It's taken from an English legend called the "Croglin Grange Vampire." In the legend, the titular vampire enters the house the exact same way: claws at the glass to loosen it, then opens the door.
Dracula picking the lead from the window, removing the glass pane and sliding his hand through to unlock the door is from an English legend called "The Croglin Grange Vampire", in which a vampire entered a house the exact same way and attacked a girl sleeping in her bed.
I think he already had been; she's sleeping in the same house where he'd been invited to dinner earlier in the film. I don't know if we actually see someone invite him or not, but since he was playing the charming nobleman at that point either the house's owners or their servants would have simply thought he was being polite if he asked permission to enter, and would have granted it without a second thought.
It was a great movie, but disappointing that the producers went with the Broadway play version-no Castle Dracula with Jonathon Harker in Transylvania with the 3 vamp brides. But who looks cooler and more handsome than Frank Langella in 1979?
you can see here with dracula climbing up the walls as a spider, from this scenes the superhero spiderman was created....and the superheroes were made by copying the clasic british monsters,..¿remember the movie the league of extraordinary gentleman,?
youre very right no to much people know that good catch,,,the exorcist copied the chapter of dracula of lucy westenra and van helsing.....the room with window the girl in the bed starting vampirized and the doctor and van helsing the 2 are merrin and carras etc,,,,
And i tell you a big secret....Alien 79, ALIEN 3,The thing 82, Predator 87,and many more COPIED the chapter of the voyage of the demeter of Dracula bram stoker,....Dracula is the first shapeshifter monster of all time,,

saw this at theater followed by SPHINX shortly after. . Great to see Langella again after all these years in DRAFT DAY, with Kevin Costner
This is actually one of the most original ways ive ever seen dracula enter a room. How he clawed at the window pane to loosen it was really practical.

They say vampires do that in a lot of folklore from around the world. They showed it in Salem’s lot as well.
There's a scene later in the movie where her Dad finds her, and she's all vamped out. One of the scariest scenes in any vampire movie.
The great Frank Langella!
fabulous
Frank Langella....BestvDracula ever!!

Nice touch to have Dracula break the fourth wall as he's climbing down the side of the house.

I thought a vampire couldn’t enter without being invited.
It's just a myth

Frank Langella
That means he's responsible for her.
I feel like The Exorcist was inspired by this or vice versa. 🤔
The exorcist came out six years before this
