Well, you managed a somewhat longer retirement than Tyson Fury, so congratulations on that and welcome back to competition. Hope the fight prep goes well; see you in Cambridge (I won't be fighting - haven't got anything like the time to put into it).

Super video, wish you the best of skill - not luck, too fickle - but as you coach - skill.

Really interesting that your training load is not that great, but it works for you. I fought kick boxing, muy Thai 30 years ago, and I think I was doing at least three hours of hard training a day, and sparred every day. Perhaps it was too much. Had the chance to train with Nicolas Saignac, back then . He was connected with Dan Inosanto back then and I was with a JKD group. He was at some of our fights and helped in the corner for my friend who was fighting a guy from Thailand. I really regret not training with Nicolas. I'm old now, but I'd like to work on Savate.

Are your fights full contact? I'm sorry for my ignorance, but I know Savate training has degrees of contact, eventually going full contact, which I think is genius. Are the competitions the same? You mentioned my comment about training time and said you didn't have to worry about hitting hard. If it's competition with moderate or low contact, I'd be very interested in that, because I'm beat to heck, but I could possibly do something with light contact. I guess I'm wondering what the contact level is in your fights. Thank you.

Hi, there are two distinct types of Savate competition: Assaut and Combat. Assaut is touch contact; Combat is full contact. (All other rules the same). Assaut is really its own style, not just contact level, as there are more spins, jumps, high kicks, and other things that impress the judges (what they call 'virtuosity') but which would be too risky with a KO threat. I like it for this kind of experession and, as I mention in the next video in this series, you can do it with a smile. Whereabouts are you based as I may be able to find you an Assaut competition? (DM me or contact via site in bio)

Thank you. I didn't know there were two different types of competition. Good to know. . I'm in Idaho, so would have to travel for any Savate competitions
