Hi! Thanks for your previous response :) I got a group of 6 471s! I see you have some in with your zebra pleco's here, do they not hybridize? I would love both in a tank together someday but I'm concerned about hybrids..
this was very temporary .. while the L471 were growing out .. now they both have their own tanks !!!!
They are gorgeous but how do you enjoy them when they hide in caves all day and only come out at night?? This is why I ultimately like geophagus and cories more than placo especially as they can be so expensive.
Ever have any crossbreed?
I keep each species in their own tank so no chances of that happening!!

What temperature and tds are your 471 at
about 80F and the TDS is between 180oom and 190 ppm as long as nitrates are low they seem to spawn for me! Best! cheers mate!

do they (l471) leave their caves on daytime?
yes mine are always out and about eating and exploring! only time they don't leave a cave for more than a day is if they have a spawn in there! otherwise they are usually out eating and stuff!
what do the L471 pleco eat to be most healthy?
meaty foods .. anything with 50% or higher protein content ideally .. I have detailed videos on feeding ! cheers!!!

what size are the breeder caves?
about 4 to 5cm in diameter and 15cm in length
@@AquaMalik in they past, i thought i read articles mentioning that size of the breeder cave was supposed to be such that the male could kind of block the female in the cave until she lays her eggs?
I wonder if there's a 'formula', like some reasonable ratios. For example, the cave needs to be 1.5 times the length of the pleco, and 1.5 times the height, and width...?
I wanted to design my own using my 3d printer using food-safe/aquarium safe materials. Just for fun.
