Neuwirth and Rivera… what a delight!!! Brilliant performance. ❤️
Absolutely marvelous!
Chita is UNBELIEVABLE!! A dancer in her 30s couldn't bring that much to it....
Inlike this clip. I can see and feel Chita singing through it emosionally. ❤
3 of The Broadway Greats plus 1
Chita, Bebe, Donna....and Don!
Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth. The most exciting and talented musical performers for two generations.
I know there’s a lot of talented musical actresses for the 2000s.
But Chita gave iconic performances in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.
I was fortunate enough to see Bebe on Broadway in Damn Yankees and Chicago! Double my dreams come true!
Bebe Neuwirth is so amazing! Own it!
Chita Rivera was in a class by herself on the stage in musicals 👍
Never saw Bebe Neuwirth bin anything but Cheers and Frazier . She is impressive
What's with all the negative comments? This was a one-night only benefit concert version inviting a lot of the past performers who played Charity or other roles throughout the years to come in. Little rehearsal time and the women were giving a bit of their time away from doing other things.
Absolutely! Simply wonderful.
Chita River here is 64 and ten years earlier broke her leg in twelve points - can you believe it?
It's so hard to believe. I saw her in "Kiss of the Spider Woman" and I got the impression that she was wearing out chorus boys half her age.
Despite her age, Chita has vim and vigor for the role and is giving a good representation of what she did originally on stage and in the movie.
She's magnificent. Most don't realizing that she was almost 50 when she did chicago
She is unbelievable!!
@@ohyoullknowaboutit1823 Definitely! I will be happy with 10% of her energy by the time I am over sixty :-)
Nope. This was a concert version benefit for and produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS at Carnegie Hall. Amazing night!
Two actresses in Cheers also starred in Broadway.
3 stars! Killing it!!!!
Ahh the time when talent was revered and not the Kardashians
Fantastic performers..
What a cast!!!
I saw Chita Rivera onstage twice: in Milwaukee in 1970 as the Leader in Zorba, costarring John Raitt and Barbara Baxley. I met her backstage afterwards and she was lovely; then I met her at the stage door after seeing her in Kiss of the Spider Woman on Broadway, as Bebe Neuwirth said when she accepted her Tony for Chicago, Chita Rivera is a goddess! I also saw Neuwirth as Velma in Chicago. She has the most beautiful legs since Cyd Charisse! I went to see the show just for Neuwirth, who fulfilled every expectation. Marilu Henner was Roxie, and she wasn't bad. Hinton Battle had just taken over the role of the lawyer and could have used a bit more rehearsal; Joel Grey was marvelous as always as Amos, and the late Marcia Lewis was superb as Mama! I feel blessed!
Thank you very much, just wonderful.
Both of the Velma's yessss
No Velmas in this number. Chita’s singing Nickie, Bebe’s singing Helene, and Donna’s singing Charity.
Damon is referring to the fact that both Chita and Bebe played Velma in Chicago
Do you still have the full concert??? Damn, I would pay for that! lol
When was this? How was was Donna?
Tony quality?
This was a one-night only benefit concert.
I can’t stop hearing the gasp she does for each word
Shut up
@@fkd1963 chill out frank I said nothing negative all I said was I heard the gasp it’s literally her just breathing technique but go off ig
I've seen Carol Lawrence and Juliet prowse in the role of sweet charity. I've also seen Shirley MacLaine in the movie. And I've seen the originator of the role Gwen Verdon on the Tony Awards recreating some of these numbers. Before you give a lot of opinions maybe you need to have seen someone else in the role.
Dancing is one thing singing is another thing and acting is something else altogether. This all calls for all three and Donna McKechnie does not have it together for all three. Although she's a wonderful standout dancer in feature turn or A Chorus Line.
Kay Langford that’s rude to say when she is a triple threat singing, dancing an acting all the emotions out
Kay Langford exactly. Donna is a true triple threat. So ate Bebe and Chita. Clearly you are clueless
She’s fabulous. Shut up
I love Chita Rivera, but damn, she is struggling through this number,
well she was 64 at the time and doing amazing
yes, i was nervous she was gonna give herself a heart attack!
You need to catch the movie and you can see exactly how good Chita was in her prime. Also you can see what the show is supposed to be like in a cinematic way. Bob Fosse directed his own show here and Gwen Verdon the star of the original show helped the dancers understand the choreography.
Not everyone can dance Fosse choreography.
I don't think Chita was struggling much at all.
oh dear, that was a bit of a mess... lol
