Noise problem you can try: On forums suggestion use vaseline or petroleum (aquarium safe) on the impeller of the motor and the shaft (for me it reduced probably by 70%, no exaggeration). Secondly I found the rattle from the lid is mostly from the front of the filter not the rear. I used a large elastic, and had it wrap around the front vertically. The bottom of the elastic should now rest on the top of the lid of your aquarium and the top of the elastic is now holding down the suction/adjuster part. The motor and lid noise for me was reduced by around 70%, it's still there... but now it's forgettable.
this thing works pretty well and i love it. the only cons about this filter is the maintenance. 2 week is max. i remember is i went for study trip around 3 weeks. when i came back, i did not change the sponge filter and till it became so dirty and leak at the top of the lid. so maintenance is very important for all overhang filter
Thank you for the comment! I' just curious, is you filter leveled? Like not tilting to one side? I'm wondering if that might be why you got a leak. Mine has never leaked over the top like that
Thanks! Pretty much only if they become damaged or deteriorated. I haven't had to replace mine yet. Sometimes I take the sponge out and squeeze it in a bucket of tank water when I am doing a water change to clean it a bit.
I love hate mine..it does a great job on my 20g..but if it stops it’s hard to restart..I think I have the size up from that one..if I redo this tank I will add an under gravel..
It sounds like you probably also have the AquaClear 30, like I have in my 15 gallon and that also is the one that doesn't always start back up for me too. I wonder if it's only that model that has this problem
We have the Aquaclear 70 and the impeller broke so we are going to have to buy a new impeller. Like you said it's quite expensive it's like 20 dallers.
Great unboxing as always bro! It does look better than the superfish ones... did it come with the sponge to cover the intake or did you buy it separate?
Only thing it doesn’t come with is the intake filter (the black cylinder thing). But that is only necessary if you have fry or shrimp that could get sucked in without it.
Hi this might help solve your problem, but it depends on what the issue is with your tank. What kind of filter do you have in it right now? and do you have your tank in direct light?
Yeah typically to get it going you need to fill the inside with water and if the power goes out or you unplug it and plug it back in, usually it can start up by itself, but sometimes it won't and you need to pour water into it to get it started again.
These are far more robust filters than those Tidal filters. You can drain the tank almost to the bottom of the intake, and these filters will keep pushing water.
Yeah I think it's definitely the sun that it gets in that spot. Unfortunately I don't really have a better place to put that tank atm. I want to try to figure out a good balance between the algae and the amount of fish in that tank. I found out that if I don't keep fish in there I won't get any algae, so I want to see how many I can have without getting algae
ive had the same issue there is probably sand stuck in the rotor propeller just remove the water pump and try to remove the propeller without breaking lol and blow in it to hopefully remove sand or small debris stuck i have fluval aqua clear 70g did the same thing only bc i added sand and there was still sand particles floating that got sucked in somehow. just give it a try hopefully it works!!! @tobias
Thanks for the tip Alex! The funny thing is my 15 gallon is the one tank I have that does not have sand it it haha. I think the problem, for me at least, is if the pump turns off all the water evacuates the filter and it needs to be re-primed
I used half the bio media and used the space made available with fine filter pad instead. Aquarclear never had issues with bio, I remember 20+ years ago it didn't have come with this and never used it before without any problems.
Yeah, the reason I got the Aquaclear 50 for my 20 gallon is because I originally had a fan tail goldfish in there so I wanted more filtration. The Aquaclear 30 should be fine for your 30 gallon if you have tropical fish and if it is comfortably stocked. A good way to know if your filter is good enough is to test your water parameters and see if you get an ammonia or nitrite reading. If you do, you probably need more filtration.
Yeah you will get a trickle sound when the water starts to get low, but for just a half inch it's not too bad. Once the water drops down like an inch or more it's a bit more noticeable
I’ve been using aqua clear filters for 35+ years and I’ve never been disappointed.
I’ve had mine since I was 12, these things are military grade and gorgeous

It comes with real nice bio-media. I like it.
Yeah! The bio media is pretty nice

Do we have to rinse off the biomedia first?
Great video 👍 I have a question will you need to change the foam and sponge parts?
Thanks! Pretty much only if they become damaged or deteriorated. I haven't had to replace mine yet. Sometimes I take the sponge out and squeeze it in a bucket of tank water when I am doing a water change to clean it a bit.
Thank you, Great Job. Super Filter and not noise, I have a Fluval C2 well no different, both are very recommended,
Good job man the best video for this filter nice clear and you show everything keep it up you might just sold me on it thx :D
Thanks man! I'm glad I could help!

I’ve been using aqua clear since the late 80s early 90s ,,, they just work. 👍🏻🇨🇦🍻

Super awesome video man!
Also: Thanks for the shout out!
Thanks so much man! You helped give me the idea to make this video haha
Haha for real? How? 😅
@@gustavusjohansson8688 Because the other day you asked about my AquaClear filters haha
Oh 😁
Great unboxing as always bro! It does look better than the superfish ones... did it come with the sponge to cover the intake or did you buy it separate?
Thank you bro! I saw you uploaded a filter review, I need to watch it still! I bought the intake sponge separately
How you did for the noice problem? Thanks
Thank you. I was not sure what size I had. I see your set up for recording is almost the same as mine.
Glad I could help! and that is awesome!
How about maintenance or replacement of biomedia?
Would it be a good idea to have a 50 aqua clear on a 20gallon long with betta fishes but have a intake sponge on the intake ?
Sponge on end is good idea, 50 is a little overkill
All the way from Philippines 🔥❤️
Thank you for the support man 🙌
So it comes with everything you need to set it up?
Yeah it comes with everything
@@TobiasHolenstein okay, thank you for clarifying 👍
@@defnotjulie17 No problem!

What kind of sponge dis you get. Like, what size and stuff?
thanks for the video
hi,can you tell me if this can help in clearing green water from Aquarium - as mine turns green in two weeks and have to clean entire aquarium, thanks
Hi this might help solve your problem, but it depends on what the issue is with your tank. What kind of filter do you have in it right now? and do you have your tank in direct light?
Is this self prime? or do we need to refill the water on power restart?
Yeah typically to get it going you need to fill the inside with water and if the power goes out or you unplug it and plug it back in, usually it can start up by itself, but sometimes it won't and you need to pour water into it to get it started again.

2:00 thanks for the explanation I thought mine was missing a gasket
Glad I could help 🙌
To reduce raddling from the lid, u hust put on top of the lid my magnetic glass scrub cleaner, and now its almost silent.
Nice good to know! I've stuck some plants in the top of my filter so I don't really need the lid anymore
I did everything n this video and it was working for a minute now it won’t turn on and i don’t know what to do helpp plzz
Does it make a noise when you plug it in?
Wonder why it seems only the 15 gallon has algae but not the others? Is it because of location? Sun?
Yeah I think it's definitely the sun that it gets in that spot. Unfortunately I don't really have a better place to put that tank atm. I want to try to figure out a good balance between the algae and the amount of fish in that tank. I found out that if I don't keep fish in there I won't get any algae, so I want to see how many I can have without getting algae
Does it starts automatically after a power cut?
Sometimes. Like sometimes it doesn't start up automatically after a power cut and you have to pour water in the top to get it started again
@@TobiasHolenstein thanks for your reply

Did you say you have the aqua filter 50 on your 20 gallon? I have the aqua 30 on my 30 gallon is that good enough for it ?

Why is my pump not filling up
Did you pour water into the top of it to get it started?
Do these make a lot of trickle sound if the water level gets a bit low (half inch or so)?
Yeah you will get a trickle sound when the water starts to get low, but for just a half inch it's not too bad. Once the water drops down like an inch or more it's a bit more noticeable
Would this be good on a 5 gallon???
I've never tried it on a 5 gallon, but I think if you turn the intake nozzle so the flow rate is lower, I think it will be fine
I am first again my boss
