Flo your recipes are the best! We are also born and raised Vancouverites and have grown up with all the great Asian dishes and restaurants. Now with your help my family raves! Thank you! This will be for dinner tomorrow!
We always add spam to our fried rice. You can also do either/or. We also like to add bellpeppers. Thats adds additional flavor to the fried rice. Aloha 😊🤙🏼
My parents lived in Japan before I was born when my dad was in the navy. It was so cheap in the early 60's to live there, that they had a japanese maid who also did some cooking. My mother learned a dish that was bacon, onion, rice and soy sauce. Simple, easy and tasted delicious. Your fried rice recipe reminded me of that, but with the addition of eggs, peas and green onion. Thank you!
I have been using bacon in my Chinese fried rice for years. It definitely adds more flavor instead of ham and I use onions, diced celery, garlic, and sometimes egg my grandkids love my rice.
I'm definitely going to do this, and I have rice in the freezer! Something I saw on another channel (America's Test Kitchen) - the presenter (a Chinese man, former owner of a restaurant in China) took the cold rice from the fridge and crumbled it through his fingers until it fell like snow into the pan. I've been doing that and it's a real time saver. You don't have to break up large clumps of rice, and it heats up and separates much faster.
Can't go wrong with fried rice. I just made mine yesterday with some leftover rotisserie chicken with curry powder and with the standard ingredients - onion, frozen peas/carrot/corn and egg ala japanese curry fried rice.
Such an amazing recipe. Tried it out and was mind blown by the simplicity yet the delicious taste ! Adding some pepper and paprika while making the eggs made it even better.
I can listen to her and her husband all day.. They have such pleasant voices complimented with wonderful articulation rivaled only by there energy and attitude which are very delightful❤
Y’all may think I’m crazy, but I love use Spam in my fried rice! Chop it and fry it up just like you did the bacon, it’s so so good. I’m going to try the bacon in mine next time I make it, looks so yummy!
Thank you (from very south Tasmania). Your tips about having all the ingredients ready and adding cold oil to the hot wok (or frypan) was so helpful. I've never really liked fried rice at restaurants because when I have had it, it's always been very oily. When I tried to make it at home it turned into mush. So I stopped trying 20 years ago. But after watching your video I felt more confident and made it tonight! The only difference was that I used short cut bacon for the award winning Geeveston butchery, which is 3/4 hour drive north from where I live (not so much fat as the one you used) and brown basmarti rice. What a fantastic result! Thank you so much! 😊😊
I love fried rice!!! Yours looks delicious! I make mine like yours, but I also add a little oyster sauce and sesame oil. Sometimes I make it with breakfast sausage…
I love to add hoisin sauce to my fried rice, LOTS of fresh chopped garlic and both sesame oil and seeds. Hubby and I both like a bit of heat so I add sambal or chili garlic paste (or both) as well. Fried rice, however you make it IS THE BOMB!!!
Oooh, what a great idea. I always have bacon in the freezer, but never thought to use it because I usually have some other protein already cooked in the fridge ready to go. Will make this the next time I have lots of leftover rice. Thanks for the idea & recipe Flo!
Never had fried rice with bacon but it looks amazing. May try this for lunch tomorrow. Already have everything in the fridge. Thanks Flo and Dude. I love chicken or shrimp fried rice. Carrots, edamame and onion.
Bacon or Spam! We make ours similar to yours, but we'll either add carrots or use the frozen carrots and peas combo. We also add nappa and/or bok choy if we have it. We've also made it with kimchi. Yum!
I’m making this tomorrow night. We usually use bbq pork and add a bit of bacon too. Veggies are peas sometimes depending how lazy i am i use snap peas and cut them nice and fine. Love fried rice. 😊
I love this simple way ❤I love your recipes you don’t make them seem hard to do 😊thank you for sharing this with us ❤much blessings 🙏🏼from Diana Vasquez family ❤
Oh YUMMY!! I would devour that whole bowl! Using up leftovers (or staples) and creating a delicious meal is a true winner in my book! TFS and Happy Weekend! Sharon 🤗♥️🍜🍚
There can be no better recipient of Flos delicious fried rice than Dude 😊 I can't wait to make this quick tasty meal, and I hope its reception from the diners will be just as appreciative 🤞🏼Thank you for this recipie.
FLO...........HEALTHY as well as delicious and cheap!! My daughter loved fried rice when she was little and I'd make a batch for a couple of days of after school snacks before we raced out the door for swimming or choir or whatever. Great way to sneak in vegetables - my record was 12 ! OYSTER SAUCE - Megachef Premium Oyster Sauce is a next level up from other 'premium' oyster sauces and If we can easily get it here you'll probably find it in Vancouver (it was not alongside the Chinese ones on the shelf oddly enough!). I was a diehard Lee Kum Kee Premium buyer - until I tasted Megachef. It's higher in oyster extractives, CHEAPER, comes in an elegant gold bottle - and OMG it's SO good that a simple drizzle over steamed veggies with a little butter works wonders. Bacon here in Oz is very different BTW (I lived in Toronto for 16 years). Our bacon hardly shrinks at all, doesn't go crispy (unfortunately) and it's sold in many various permutations. You can get just the streaky long bit, just the eye, the eye WITH the long streaky bits attached, rind on or off, it's usually very lean, much drier than Canadian bacon, and then there's cheaper cooking bacon which is variations of all of those but just not as nicely presented. Yes, bacon in Australia is a WHOLE different thing - but I still miss the shatteringly salty crispy Canadian bacon of my teens. Hugs from Oz!!
I always add peanuts to my fried rice. Love the crunch and extra protein. AND, a little bit of chili garlic sauce for a bit of heat. But you are right, we also can't imagine fried rice without the eggs!
What a brilliant idea!! I just bought a bargain bag of cashews, had planned fried rice, but adding them will really lift the dish. Thanks for the suggestion!!
@@andersonomo597 Thanks, it is delicious with Cashews too! I also stir fry any nuts for a minute or two to bring out a deeper flavor, sometimes to the point of a little color on them. Then throw them back in when you add the pre-cooked eggs back, for a perfect finish. Enjoy!
Mmmmm... LOVE me some fried rice! I always seem to add too much soy sauce, especially dark soy. I might have been doing tablespoons and not teaspoons. Yum! God bless you two in your efforts.
I make a simple fried rice. Enjoy it when there is leftover chicken, ham or beef, any leftover meat. I keep frozen peas in the freezer mainly for making fried rice.
i use edamame instead of peas. sometimes i sprinkle in chopped thai basil. serve with slices of cucumbers. try salmon fried rice with thai basil. it's yummy 😋
I have not made bacon fried rice yet, but I am definitely gonna try it. It looks so good. I love your recipes. I would like to know where you would find a spatula like the one you’re using in this video for the fried rice. It has the edges on it. I’ve never seen one like that and I would love to find one.
What can NOT be right, with FRIED RICE? Had a roasted 1/2 of lamb leg with a egg turmeric, curry fried rice last night. Uses carrot cut into very small cubes (1), celery ribs (2 stalks, mince), 1/2 yellow onion, one egg mixed with the rice, season with turmeric, curry powder, pinch of red chili, soy, oyster sauce. Went well with the lamb.
Damn it I was told I needed peanut oil? I knew that bacon fat was good flavor. Fried rice is by far my favorite dish on the planet and I won't stop until I find the perfect recipe and this looks like it
I always use bacon for my fried rice but mainly because I buy it in bulk. Would you say bacon is better than ham? Is that how it's supposed to be done. I have cooked fried rice probably 20 times in the past 2 mths trying to get it perfect, never made a bad tasting one but still trialing
I’m not good with my computer so I resort to my phone for backup. Bring up the recipe and take a photo or two,a shot of the ingredients and another of the method. No one will ever know and you have what you need for a fabulous meal. Wok on!!!
Awesome that you always have bacon and eggs but as a professional UA-cam creator you also need Spam in the pantry. Bacon Spam. Jalapeño Spam. Hickory Smoke Spam. I love Jalapeño Spam with Kimchi Fried Rice. And you can never go wrong with bacon. And fried rice without eggs doesn’t count.
Bacon makes the best fried rice! What’s your favourite ingredient for fried rice? Happy Weekend! 💕
Flo your recipes are the best! We are also born and raised Vancouverites and have grown up with all the great Asian dishes and restaurants. Now with your help my family raves! Thank you! This will be for dinner tomorrow!

I love eggs in my rice and also some small shrimp
We always add spam to our fried rice. You can also do either/or.
Aloha 😊🤙🏼

I have been using bacon in my Chinese fried rice for years. It definitely adds more flavor instead of ham and I use onions, diced celery, garlic, and sometimes egg my grandkids love my rice.
Yummy, I forgot celery, that would be good.
I use spam sometimes, but mostly bacon. I use ends and pieces to save a little money

Yum! Sometimes I crack the eggs right on top of all the other ingredients last and stir it all up! Ancient Filipino Secret from my grandfather 😉
So much for secrets...
@@usernamemykel it's a private joke between Flo and me.

Not crazy at all! Spam is a staple in our household too! 😆
For something quick in the morning before work I have been known to just fix some basic fried rice with just the eggs and scallions and onions
Everything is better with bacon.
Thanks very much kindly from SA Australia 🇦🇺 Thanks
Yum, i add tiny diced carrots to mine.
I love the simple instructions that I can follow!!

Hi Flo, try prawns or flaked salmon
Looks 😊
Would you need to cook the rice several hours before you start? How much rice do you need
Damn it I was told I needed peanut oil? I knew that bacon fat was good flavor. Fried rice is by far my favorite dish on the planet and I won't stop until I find the perfect recipe and this looks like it
Hi Flo. I have leftover jasmine rice, which is a bit sticky. Can I still stir fry with it or should I just make an Asian sticky rice dish?
Bacon? That is cheating! Bacon is so good.
