My mother was THE best cook in the world!! She used to make spaetzel and gravy with beef tips so tender. That brings many wonderful memories to mind. Thanks for that, Flo! Happy weekend to all!
A recipe reminiscent of what my mom made all the time growing up on the farm after picking fresh tomatoes off the vine. A Chinese classic for you but I think it's a classic dish for cultures worldwide. Tomatoes and beef goes together perfectly and is a international comfort food call by different names but the ingredient basics for the dish is the same with variations on sauces, herbs, and other seasonings. *Thanks for sharing your take on the dish!* Love your chanel.❤
😮what?!??! No garlic? The reason costco beef is so amazing is that they cut it fresh on sight and sell thru quick so its always so fresh which makes a HUGE difference with meat flavor❤❤ this recipe looks amazing! Reminds me of the other Chinese staple beginner food, Tomatoes and Eggs fried in oil with salt. 🤤😋 hao chi!
Hi Flo, you are my favorite UA-camr chef! Your recipes are not only easy to follow but also very delicious and the ingredients are easy to find at any supermarket. This tomato beef dish is one of my absolute favorites... it's my comfort food. I can't wait to try your recipe. Your videos always make me hungry when I'm watching them! *LOL* 😁😄 I ❤your personality and your simple life, simple faith. BTW, it's so cute to hear your cat meowing in the background of some of your videos. I love cats! May God bless you and your family. 🙏
Omg, what a great dish Flo and Dude. I learned about this dish 8 years ago, so yummy. Morning time and this looks like a good Saturday meal. Thank you, wishing your family a blessed day.
I commented the other day, saying i was going to make this and I'm so glad I did today. I live alone so I made a half recipe (except the beef), and it came out so delicious! Thank-you Flo.
Just made this for dinner tonight, I loved it, it was so easy to make. Thanks Flo for another great recipe. It will be on the top of my list to make again.
Thank you for the recipe and video. Looks absolutely delicious. Best memory for me is fried chicken or beef liver with bacon and onions. Had these on my birthday as a kid.
@FloLum 🍅 this is one of my all time favourite dishes….YUM! So many memories. I like it poured over rice and let it sit for a few minutes to let the rice get thick and sticky with the sauce. Thanks for sharing. 🌻
First comment ... did you get a new hair style? Looks great!! This is a fantastic recipe. Yes talk about cheap to make. Now a days that is needed especially if you have 4 or more mouths to feed. Thank you Flo and Dude! Cheers
This is one of my favorite Chinese dishes. I found a very similar recipe to this in a cookbook when I was younger using flank steak. It’s something I had never seen before and I was very surprised by it. A great way to use your canned tomatoes if you don’t want to eat chili. I’ll have to try it with ground beef now. 🩷
You have very good recipes. I will try this one out. I just purchased your cookbook, which I wanted to do some time ago. And, I like your videos very much.
I haven't been here for a while, but I'm glad I caught your post! This looks super yummy! I'm a single parent and my boys are pretty picky eaters, but I think this would be a hit, I'm definitely going to try this for dinner this week! And I'm glad it's budget friendly...2 boys one income. I think they're going to love it! Thanks again. Oh, and like I said it's been a minute since I've tuned in but I have to say Dude looks quite a bit thinner? maybe it's me, but I hope all is well...cheers!
How funny, I was going to be looking up your tomato and eggs recipe and this one came out today. Have you ever thought about growing Egyptian Walking onions? They don't really produce a bulb but will keep you in green onions all summer long and then come back again after winter. Thank you for the meal inspiration and I hope you and your family have a lovely Thanksgiving.
What???? NO garlic? Wassamatta-U?!?!? Mmmmm... gonna have to try that. A nice/simple and flavorful dish. Thanks, Flo. God bless you both in your efforts.
Awsome recipe and many thanks for posting. ITs almost American chop Suey or Chili Mac. Whats not to love about this! .... Oh, theres a bottle of Evan Williams on the shelf. That a good whiskey for the price as it mixes well and goes over an ice cube nicely.
I think that would be yummy. I will probably add navy, cannellini, or black bean. Whatever is in my pantry. No longer classic Chinese dish, but extra boost of protein for family. Thanks for the idea!!
....you can add tofu to this dish too, but remember cut into 1 & 1/2 cubes and pan fry all sides, then add to your recipe! Another way is to add some Chinese black bean sauce to it!!
My Thai sister made a version of this when she first came to live with us. We all fussed over it and said how delish it was. She laughed with a bit of a disgusted look and said, “This is what we serve PRISONERS in Thailand!” The equivalent would be her family going crazy for bologna sandwiches! Now, when we refer to it, we just say we’re making “prison food” for dinner. That’s how it’s listed in our recipe files. “Prison Food.” 😂😂
Instead of beef could I use bear meat or squirrel or something like buffalo or moose? I live in a forest and there are no cows or supermarket here. I can get tomatoes that I steal from my neighbours cabin so all good. I use worcestershire sauce instead of soy with a little beer. 😂😮
The brings back the best memories! What meal brings back the best memory for you? Happy weekend! 💕
Thank you for this recipie ❤
@@FloLum Liver and onions and bacon by my grandmother. Just for me nobody else in the family liked it.
By the way, loving your hair…looking great @FloLum ! 🌻

@@heidid5275 Oh now I want spaetzel!! My grandmother made all those goodies when I was little.
The best job ever is your husband the food taster he gets to enjoy what you cook first before the cook gets to eat. I love the way he describes it.

Looks lush, but I would say Chinese-American as tomatoes are New World.
Gosh, my mom never had this in the many dishes I remember growing up. Definitely going to make this for the family.

I’ve made SO many recipes of yours😊❤One of our faves is the Mongolian beef👍🏼
Thanks for another great video. I grew up eating something similar and have now passed it to my kids.

Can't go wrong with Chinese beef noodle sauce. I had a variant of this recipe but with pork ribs, shallots, and garlic.
Thanks for sharing Flo!! This looks delicious… always looking for simple yet delicious recipes ❤
🤤Now I’m starving! Chili oil, YES!❤

Wow! That looks delicious. I’ll make it soon.
I made this tonight. Very delicious! Thanks Flo.
My FamilIy always made beef tomato with sliced flank steak which is a little more expensive than ground beef. Will have to try this version
My family always used ground beef. Only got flank in the restaurants. Sometimes I make it with flank.

Looks delicious!
Thank you for this video. Your food always looks good. Please do an Instant Pot version of this recipe.

great idea to use ground beef instead of flank steak which is so expensive now. Would add curry powder when cooking the onions for a flavor boost.

Hmmm sounds strange but suit your fancy
That jar is chili crisp. I have a jar here at home.
Since I have never seen a tomato in any Chinese dish from a restaurant I assumed that Asian folks didn’t eat them. Now I know! Looks tasty.
Pssst… don’t tell anyone but ketchup originally came from China. Ket = tomato, chup = sauce…
@@ezura4760 But I read the first ketchup was a fish sauce and not tomato until later??
@@sherryw-ponyluv-er2394 then it wouldn’t have been called ketchup as the ke means tomato? Fish is yu so it’d be yuchup?

🤷🏻♀️ I’m no expert but I don’t see why not.
Is the sugar necessary if using ketchup? Thank you!
I throw in cut chilli padi! lol
I enjoy watching you cook but testing not so much I prefer your compilations of multiple videos that doesn't include the taste part.
Missing the eggs
Seems to be a lot of sugar, especially when you realise that tomato ketchup is loaded with sugar.
Oh my! If you don’t want sugar in the recipe use your head and omit it 🥺
