What really caught me off the guard the most in this episode was when Ms. Chalice turned into a ghost at the end! Not because of course we know in the games she is a ghost, but the fact that the show did not reveal until now that they were actually going to use that fact! I really can't wait to see what the show does with it~
From the song in the Delicious Last Course reveal, based on the lyrics, I think they’re trying to scour DLC Island for the necessary ingredients for some special tart, to be made by Chef Saltbaker to help Ms. Chalice in some way. Maybe to give her a permanent body perhaps? The second season release will be Summer, so I think it’s times to be near the release of the DLC.
One thing I sort of noticed, a lot of Ms Chalices charming people is usually using the things she gets from charming other people, like she charms to get the glasses, to disguise herself as a blind beggar, and uses the coin the cop gave her to buy the gum, before tickling the machine to get it to spit up more gum, which she doesn’t actually take for herself. XD
Also, one thing I’m thinking might happen is, since Elder Kettle doesn’t have his repaired glasses, after all this is over he still doesn’t know the trouble they got in.
The best TV series' and movies apply the "show don't tell" approach. The opening with the pancakes perfectly encapsulates the characters of Elder Kettle, Cuphead and Mugman.
Ms Chalice surprised me as a character. I was expecting her to be the Minne Mouse or Olive Oil archetype like the stereotypical girly girl. But she stepped out by being Cuphead's version of Bart Simpson or Louis (Bob's Burgers) as the mischievous sly prankster with a heart of course. Can't wait to see more what season 2 has and answer that question how she's able to turn into a ghost. 🏺☕️🍵
Her character surprised me on the opposite side of the spectrum; I thought she was going to be a antihero trickster, using the boys to her advantage (I thought she tripped the silent alarm on purpose). Nope! She actually does care about the boys. Not enough to tango with the cops but more than I expected.

The show makes it clear that despite her outward niceness and charm, she is very self centered and manipulative, seeing as she abandons Cuphead and Mugman when the police get to them.

In the books, she's less of a charmer and more of a sweeter chick. She still has a lot of fire in her, but she is never seen as a thief or a charmer, more of a headstrong and plucky female. In these books, she's already friends with the boys and thier friendship is real strong. She often gets them out of tough situations that the boys wouldn't get out of themselves. As for the ghost situation, i have a theory 'bout that. Ms. Chalice and the boys first meet in the show. Right? Perhaps in the next batches of episodes, we get to see the three bond more and become friends. But that begs the question. How does that tie into the game? Perhaps while the Devil is attempting to steal Cuphead's soul, the Devil gets ahold of Ms. Chalice's soul instead. Ms. Chalice's soul somehow escapes, but she gets trapped in a mausoleum. That's where Don't Deal With The Devil takes place. In the game, Ms. Chalice is referred to as The Legendary Chalice, and grants the boys super weopens and such. The Delicious Last Course is where things get a bit complex. (as of they weren't already enough) In the lyrics of a song that we know shows up in the DLC's soundtrack, it reveals Ms. Chalice wants to be a real girl again, with a body, and not just a ghost. So they team up with a character called Chef Saltbaker and head to DLC Island to gather ingredients for the Wonder Tart, which is a treat that seemingly helps turn a astral being into a breathing soul again. After that, that's probably where the books take place, where the trio are pals and go on wacky hi-jinx. Most of that was speculation, and we still don't know too much about Ms. Chalice. I'm just throwing out some stuff to get the community talking, since I barely here anyone talk about the books or certain aspects of the DLC.

We need more comedic cartoons these days. I like cartoons like Gravity Falls with complex storylines and in depth characters, but there’s something about shows like Spongebob, Tom and Jerry and Ren and Stimpy that just carry that timeless charm to them, where you can just pick any random episode and get the exact same hilarious experiences as everyone else. Simple cartoons have less boundaries and rules holding it back, meaning, in some ways, more creativity can shine through w/o any consequences towards the integrity of the show, especially in regards to visual humor. In other words, cartoony shows give the animators just as much or more say on what happens than the writers.
@@God-T the whole point of the show is that there really is no plot atleast not yet just goofiness and shows like adventure time and Steven universe do have goofiness but have a lot plot going on
Ms. Chalice isn’t really Chaotic Neutral, but more Lawful Evil. She doesn’t harm anyone, and only makes people happier to the point they “offer” her free stuff.
I like That she is technicaly more of an anti-hero but instead of being some punisher archetype or just some stereotypical dark edgelord she is instead a charmer who uses her talents to get what the wants.
I think the two main reasons why Chalice is such a mystery is because 1 the DLC hasn't com out yet (duh) and 2 she started out as a legendary ghost with (in the background of one of the levels) a mysterious past of being a warrior. This might also explain why she has a large scope of adventure. One last thing I did not expect this personality for her! It surprisingly fits her and I love it👍
@@TheDinoKitteh I would take alot longer but probably. I'd rather them order a smaller number and if it does well, do another season. I doubt the pay raise is that high considering the state of US Wages
We actually see ms chalice in the original cuphead ( no dlc ) as a ghost, it’s in a small mini level the Mausoleum we save her from pink ghost and she appears from a urn as the legendary chalice.
Actualy I hope they do that The one thing no one is talking about is ms chalise is all alone cuphead and mug man atleast have eachother their probally her first real friends
I'm still not sure which episode was my favorite, but I know that Baby Bottle episode had me rolling and it avoided my least favorite trope of the protagonists getting blamed and punished for something someone else did, which is what I worried was going to happen.
My theory is that Ms Chalice was just having fun when running from the cops, and her turning into a ghost might have just been a last resort since she was cornered.
1:38 Lincoln Loud? Nice? Literally every episode is him hatching a selfish scheme and when it fails at the end he “learns his lesson” but then he just does the same thing all over again in the next episode.
I just started and finished the show today too and I was quiet impressed with the animation and characters, I really like both cup head and mug man, and Ms. Chalice was just a fun extra character I hope to see more of :)
Y'know. I kinda hope that this whole "ms.chalice being a bit on the misterious and enigmatic loose cannon persona in the show is some sort of clue to look out on the upcoming DLC because... That would be freaking GENIUS!
So, Chalice. Definitely seemed like a strange move to characterize her the way that the show did. In the game she's the Legendary Chalice, trapped in mausoleums and granter of super arts, and in the official novels and comics she seems like a generally nice girl, albiet with a penchant of getting into trouble the same way Cuphead and Mugman do. Now, I'm not one of those people who generally complains that the show isn't like the game, because of course it isn't, if it was it would just be one action sequence after another, but most of the character's personalities seem the same or similar to the game, so it just seems odd that they would characterize the character who is the closest thing the game has to an angel or a goddess or something of that nature to a sweet-talking con artist. Not bad though, I do want to see where the character goes from here (if she's in the intro I'm assuming she's coming back.) I wonder what her personality will be like in the DLC.
That’s my thing too, I wish she was more of the girly girl type like the games too, her voice and personality and everything here just doesn’t fit her honestly.
@@princesspeachfan100 girly girls are fine, yet is such a generic role that I am happier they tried something different. perhaps another Minnie wasn't needed
Do we know how she got trapped in the Astral Plane that she needs a special cookie to temporarily swap places with one of the boys? We free her from the mausoleum in the early game but what happened to her body?
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one surprised they kept the fact she’s technically a ghost in the show and didn’t reveal it until the end. Can’t wait for the next batch of episodes.
Two brothers who always fight and a little lady who's main character trait is charm shows up. I was CERTAIN we'd get a love triangle thing where Cuphead and Mugman fight over Chalice and I'm SO GLAD they didn't do that. It makes Chalice into her own independant character and it keeps the childlike charm of the brothers. It was just so refreshing to see this platonic, chaotic trio
Ms Chalice it's just an amazing character I never imagined she was a a clever thief it makes sense she will be introducing the last episode considering I hear the rumors that season 2 will release in the summer because considering the DLC will be released in June
There’s a neat reference in this episode. So ya see the episode starts with cuphead and mugman looking for cookie’s. In the game you eat a cookie to play as ms chalice. Cool right?
if shes so great why don't you just make her president instead of "joe biden" and replace her with "elon musk" instead. i used to look up to her until now!
Maybe because her Lore in movie didn't fit to the fact that she was actually not a criminal in the DLC? Also the cookies is mainly the things for her astral problems?
I think the broken glasses are going to come back in some way. Maybe the cup bros. end up charming the optician into repairing them free of charge, showing they ended up learning from Chalice after all. I think that'd be a cute conclusion to the second part.
My guess is that Ms Chalice was probably once very trusting of people, until one day she trusted the wrong person (probably one of the ghosts from the game) who sealed her away in an urn. Since then, she’s learned not to trust anyone and is terrified of being caught and captured by the police, because of how long she spent captured in that urn.
Fun fact : Miss chalice is actually the legendary chalice from the cuphead game Only people that play or watch the game play or something like that actually know about her being a ghost well more like a magical character something like that
From her comments about not staying in one place too long my guess is she’s the Legendary Chalice on the run from some ghosts trying to capture her and trap her in an urn.
In the game, Ms Chalice is a ghost who gives you power ups if you get rid of all the ghosts trying to hurt her. When you defeat a pack of ghosts, she says she got stuck in there on an adventure. I think this show adds more to that character and so many others like Porkrine that you don’t get to learn much about in game.
she's also the spirit from the chalice in cuphead and would give powers to cuphead and mugman which will help later in the game and she is also will be a playable character in the delicious last course.
About the bear guard being gone when we’re shown the outside of the cookie factory, maybe he snapped out of the charm after he let the cups and Chalice in and went to get backup to take them all in. After all, how else would the cops know they were in there? They could’ve seen the lights, but I doubt they’d be _that_ close to the factory to notice them and what the trio were up to.
When she flipped the silent alarm switch, I thought she did it on purpose then was going to sneak out while Cuphead and Mugman were busy eating cookies and let them get caught intentionally. I was surprised that even she seemed surprised when the cops arrived and actually tried to get the boys up.
Ms chalice is a unique character but I mean I’ve never questioned why it’s not in her perspective. I mean cuphead and mugman are the main characters and chalice is someone we’ve seen on the last episode and are waiting for in the next season so it would only make sense that people are interested about ms chalice and are used to cuphead and mugman
Ms. Chalice is a class act that's a whole lotta trouble! I'm loving her swinging charmer attitude that helps her get outta jams! Man, I can't wait for Season 2!
They hinted the cookie charm to play as ms. Chalice with this episode, you can see that she calls it her “charm” and it’s related to cookies at the end.
If I had a nickel for every time that two male protagonist have wacky adventures with a female protagonist and then the female protagonist ends up betraying the males trust, I’d have 2 nickels. Which in all fairness isn’t a lot I understand that, but it’s weird that it has happened twice.
I have a few problems with the show, like the fact they baited major characters or bosses that are loved by the community in the advertisements but then, in the actual show, the five seconds they had in the ads is *the only* screentime they had in the show. And for a character who's in the damn Intro and was a major selling point of the series, I expected Ms. Chalice to be a third protagonist, considering she's designed after the *Holy Grail*, I assumed she wouldn't be what amounts to a snake oil salesman that manipulates people into doing what she wants. The Devil feels practically neutered, King Dice doesn't even have his original Voice Actor and went from the Devils right hand man to a joke of a villain who fails because of what amounts to Fate and the stars aligning. The only characters that showed up were from the first isle and they just paid what amounts to lip service to the rest of the original setting, Cuphead and Mugman aren't even supposed to be kids, not a single reference to either smoking or drinking. It just feels like they tried to make it into Ducktales but without the emotional depth that makes *that* show so amazing. But eh... Transition from game to show is always super rough at the best of times, simply because you preconception and ideas of the characters is heavily inspired by your own interactions with the world through said characters and... Yeah... It's a modern cartoon for better or for worse.
I seriously don’t know how people didn’t expect chalice to turn into a ghost, heck it even makes sense! In the game chalice is a spirit who after freeing her from the mausoleums across the isles gives the player a special ability. We even see that she’s a ghost and in the DLC she tries to find a way to me reborn and live life again
She is probably one of the best characters in the show she is sneeky but charming. Also how proficient she is at this shows how long she has been doing this. Also I really love the devil too he reminds me of one of those old classic hammy villains.
What really caught me off the guard the most in this episode was when Ms. Chalice turned into a ghost at the end! Not because of course we know in the games she is a ghost, but the fact that the show did not reveal until now that they were actually going to use that fact! I really can't wait to see what the show does with it~

@@God-T adventure time and Steven universe can’t be compared to this show. Those are both Cartoon Network professionals made shows
We need more comedic cartoons these days.
@@God-T the whole point of the show is that there really is no plot atleast not yet just goofiness and shows like adventure time and Steven universe do have goofiness but have a lot plot going on
What is a bleached show?
Ms. Chalice isn’t really Chaotic Neutral, but more Lawful Evil. She doesn’t harm anyone, and only makes people happier to the point they “offer” her free stuff.
You mean gold digger ?
@@tareklegrand7747 How did come out with this... Gold digger is completely different to what you are seeing in this scenario.
She isn't really a bad person, just kinda selfish.
I like That she is technicaly more of an anti-hero but instead of being some punisher archetype or just some stereotypical dark edgelord she is instead a charmer who uses her talents to get what the wants.
I think this shows just going to get better and better as the show goes on. I really like it so far tho!
Absolutely. I know there’s a lot of people who love what the show offers so far!
I do truly think that this show is an amazing thing that Netflix has ever made in a long time.
That’s a great point!
For once Netflix made a good adaptation of something that was popular
I think the two main reasons why Chalice is such a mystery is because 1 the DLC hasn't com out yet (duh) and 2 she started out as a legendary ghost with (in the background of one of the levels) a mysterious past of being a warrior. This might also explain why she has a large scope of adventure. One last thing I did not expect this personality for her! It surprisingly fits her and I love it👍
I really like her character. Especially how apologetic she was about having to leave the Cups for the cops
Did you hear netflix is splitting this show in to two to avoid paying high salaries to the animators just because it's animation and not live action
Fucking horrible.
I wondered why they would always order 20-4p episode seasons only for Part 1 yo only have 13 Episodes
Can animators get better pay anywhere?
@@SlapstickGenius23it depends
@@TheDinoKitteh I would take alot longer but probably. I'd rather them order a smaller number and if it does well, do another season. I doubt the pay raise is that high considering the state of US Wages
We actually see ms chalice in the original cuphead ( no dlc ) as a ghost, it’s in a small mini level the Mausoleum we save her from pink ghost and she appears from a urn as the legendary chalice.
I love Ms. Chalice. I hope to see her more later on. Im sure we will. The show definitely saved the best for last.
Ended on a high talking point!
@@TheAlphaJayShow Definitely!
Hopefully this won't be a Hades/Meg situation or already got caught by those other ghosts and The Cup Bros have to free her like In the game.
Plenty of room for speculation
@@TheAlphaJayShow I agree, they probably will because Netflix likes doing that, no matter how good the show is
Actualy I hope they do that
The one thing no one is talking about is ms chalise is all alone cuphead and mug man atleast have eachother their probally her first real friends
This show really gives me both ‘30s vibes, and ‘90s vibes. That’s why I love this show.
1:38 Lincoln Loud? Nice? Literally every episode is him hatching a selfish scheme and when it fails at the end he “learns his lesson” but then he just does the same thing all over again in the next episode.
True it happened in season 1 "Making The Case"
I just finished watching the episodes today, and I enjoyed them.
Glad to hear!
Actually Ms. Chalice had more of a mixture of a Brooklyn and Southern accent.
I have been to neither so I’m take your word for it.
In my opinion, does Ms Chalice speak in a somewhat neutralised Piedmont, Virginia accent?
That ending was definitely unexpected. Never heard of the games, but the show was really good😊
As someone who hasn’t seen this episode I am excited to find out why
It’s a great episode
I theorize that the show is in another universe different from the game. That's why some events and characters are different
@@highest8002 True, but I don’t know, I think it would of fit her better honestly. :)
Is it me or does the Devil's voice make him sound a lot like Tim Curry? The best example is his "phone call" with King Dice
Dang I never thought of that but now that you mention it It freaking does!!
Ms Chalice it's just an amazing character I never imagined she was a a clever thief it makes sense she will be introducing the last episode considering I hear the rumors that season 2 will release in the summer because considering the DLC will be released in June
Fun fact: ms challace is voiced by the same voice actress that did princess azula from avatar the last airbender
and Daphne in Scooby Doo
It's unbelievable, and I think they deserve a lot more than that
I mean she’s like the sandy of the show. cool as hell, smooth as hell and lot more interesting. But I wouldn’t want there EVERY ep
Luckily the way the episodes are set up, none of the reoccurring characters are in every episode
There’s a neat reference in this episode. So ya see the episode starts with cuphead and mugman looking for cookie’s. In the game you eat a cookie to play as ms chalice. Cool right?
Yeah I noticed that too
I have the feeling The Devil and Ms.Chalice may know each other. I have this strange vibe.
Ye i also get that feeling when the main characters girlfriend is associated with the antagonist
When I first watched the series,I had no idea of the game, and when I saw chalice turn into a ghost,I almost flipped
“THIS ‘Chalice’ Is NOTHIN’ But Trouble!” - Mrs. Chalice
“WE LOVE Trouble!” - Cuphead
“We ‘DO’?!” -Mugman
Idk i guess shes a mysterious character.
She’s quite the mystery in this episode.
Because Grey Griffin plays her. She is always great.
and i voiced a fox and yet grey and I aren't even friends because of that!
if shes so great why don't you just make her president instead of "joe biden" and replace her with "elon musk" instead. i used to look up to her until now!
Maybe because her Lore in movie didn't fit to the fact that she was actually not a criminal in the DLC? Also the cookies is mainly the things for her astral problems?
Well I can think of a few reasons on why that is, reasons that UA-cam wouldn’t like people to mention.
That’s wild
@@TheAlphaJayShow wait a second 😳
I just remembered in the dlc she had a few seconds to be alive again when mug man ate the cookie
I think the broken glasses are going to come back in some way. Maybe the cup bros. end up charming the optician into repairing them free of charge, showing they ended up learning from Chalice after all. I think that'd be a cute conclusion to the second part.
She is my favorite character so ehm-
She has a distraction dance like Henry but ah-
Sometimes I feel like she’s Chauncey level 2 with her hypnosis
Depression: exists
Ms. Chalice: aggressive tap-dancing
Depression: why do I hear boss music?
I’m here 5 months later into the future and I can say that there will be a season 2!!!!!
Gonna be honest, based on the thumbnail and the fact that this is the internet. I thought you were gonna talk about something much worse lol
I love the accent they gave Ms Chalice. I really wish she said Fuzz instead of saying cops
Yea I thought she was gonna say that too and plus it would have been a double entender since bees are fuzzy and they cops
The part where you talk about characters being bad which is good is what Helluva Boss did too.
What I have learned from Ms. Chalice right now. Something new for the comments for dazzle.
First charm then receive Give them the slip
That’s true lol
Fun fact : Miss chalice is actually the legendary chalice from the cuphead game
Only people that play or watch the game play or something like that actually know about her being a ghost well more like a magical character something like that
I’m sure it’s only very *wholesome* reasons
Let’s hope!
can we just take a minute of silence for infinity train 5
SHES ALWAYS BEEN A FUCKING GHOST. SHES THE LEGENDARY CHALICE.
THATS WHAT SHE DOES!
Idk man. You said all of that in caps so kinda sus
@@TheAlphaJayShow sorry Alpha. Just got upset because they're always like "holy shit!!!!!1!1!1!1! Miss chalice is a ghost???1?1????1??
It’s better to watch this show after at least playing the game. Or watching some UA-camr rage at it.
When she flipped the silent alarm switch, I thought she did it on purpose then was going to sneak out while Cuphead and Mugman were busy eating cookies and let them get caught intentionally. I was surprised that even she seemed surprised when the cops arrived and actually tried to get the boys up.
Will Cuphead End on a Cliffhanger like Glitch Techs?
Let’s hope not
Season 2 is coming out this summer

Lol he says that cuphead is a sort of mean show without even mentioning that the devil himself is the villain.
Now the devil can gel cuphead’s soul cause he’s stuck in jail
Ms chalice is a really nice and fun character and I wonder what role she will play in season 2 or the next chunk of episodes.

If I had a nickel for every time that two male protagonist have wacky adventures with a female protagonist and then the female protagonist ends up betraying the males trust, I’d have 2 nickels. Which in all fairness isn’t a lot I understand that, but it’s weird that it has happened twice.
Damn.😠😆
Which was the first?
I don’t think that’s an uncommon occurrence. Plenty of shows have that.
@@TheAlphaJayShow

We don't talk about Chalice.
Is this an Encanto reference?
Nice reference
Can’t wait to hear you talk about Cuphead! I LOVED binge watching it!!
I wish you they’d used this art style for Ducktales! That kind of Art Deco look
Cuphead show is really good! can't wait for the next drop of episodes
Would it be fair to expect Adventure time levels of character development in the Cuphead show?
She is probably one of the best characters in the show she is sneeky but charming. Also how proficient she is at this shows how long she has been doing this. Also I really love the devil too he reminds me of one of those old classic hammy villains.
