WOW!...really a great technique for an altered book...Haven't seen it done this way, I don't think...Thank you for sharing your creative way of doing this...........................😻
I've made two altered books and working on two more. I'm so glad I saw your video because now I have an option to sew if I want too! I've never seen this before. Very crafty! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for showing us how to create the altered book. I will be trying this technique.I’ve never seen it done with taking the signatures out, prepping and then putting back in…I love it!!
Great way to use a glued in book block instead of having a string bound book to start with. Interesting approach. Thanks for show your process. I wish you would show how you sewed them back into the spine…. I can’t visualize what you did.
I’ll have to make another one & show the process better bc lots of ppl have asked about it. 😁 …. But I pretty much sewed it in like any other journal…. Could do 3 hole pamphlet stitch or whatever binding method u like.
I reinforced the spine with fabric tape then sewed them in…. Can’t sew thru the cover but the spine u can! 😁 I wish I didn’t have to cut so much of my videos out! Hoping to get 1000 subbies soon so I don’t have to worry about this. Lol
I had to cut out some of my video & unfortunately cut this part out…. But I reinforced the spine of the cover with linen tape, then found the center of my pages & sewed it in. (U can sew thru the spine but not hard cover part) Hope I made sense?! 😅
This is best recipe I’ve tried. If u find one u really like please share! 9oz water (~ 1 1/2 c) 4 1/2 oz PVA glue (125 g) 500 g calcium carbonate (chalk ) - add slowly to water & glue

I am so in love with these books. Thank you for sharing.
I love what you did to the book !! No one would ever guess the surprises inside the covers. You did an awesome job. Thank you for the idea.

This is a new technique I haven't seen before. I really like it. Thank you for sharing.

I actually love this way now that I’ve tried it! Just gotta reinforce spine before sewing pages back in… but I know u know that 😅
Neat! My fave is the hand pieced, of course.
The journal cover u mean?

GREAT idea! Love it.
These turned out great!
I love this this technique. Thank you
It definitely makes it a bit easier to work with 😁💗
Loved this tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I will look for some linen tape!
You don’t have to buy linen tape! I always try to use what I have when I’m playing with new ideas. ❣️ You could use any kind of strong tape.
Thank you for making this informative video ❤
Hope I inspired you to create one 😁
These are beautiful Kri!!! You are so gifted!
Beautiful. Would love to know how you sewed the signatures back into the red book.
I reinforced the spine w/ linen tape, found the center of my signature, & sewed it in. 😁
These are absolutely wonderful.
Thank u Jill ❣️ I’m excited to start decorating & adding goodies to them now 🥳🥳
They are so cool! 😍
This is how I’m going to make altered books from now on! I think it’s easier.
This is beautiful Sis 🖤🌹
I love this Kristen!!!! Sooooooo cute and I love the circus backgrounds on the pages!!! I have watched about “underpants” too! 🤣
Thank you! ❣️😁
Wondering how you sewed the signatures into the hard cover book? They look awesome!
I reinforced the spine with fabric tape then sewed them in…. Can’t sew thru the cover but the spine u can! 😁
I wish I didn’t have to cut so much of my videos out! Hoping to get 1000 subbies soon so I don’t have to worry about this. Lol
thats a cool way to start the book! i really like all the extra flips/pockets in the second one!
Beautiful boho cover. Love the different ways you have filled/cut/pockets of the books. #JJDIVA3000
Is there a part 2?
where did you get your fabric tape?? I think I may need to get some of that!
It’s that cloth , surgical tape stuff 😂🤷🏼♀️…. Use what u have right?
I like using black masking tape too.
Also, are those circus pages a digikit or scrapbook paper? Would love to get it.
Thanks for asking bc I forgot to put the links for digitals in this video description! They’re added now 😁
How did you sew in the pages? Is it a hidden spine?
I had to cut out some of my video & unfortunately cut this part out…. But I reinforced the spine of the cover with linen tape, then found the center of my pages & sewed it in. (U can sew thru the spine but not hard cover part)
Hope I made sense?! 😅
When i glue before I sew, it almost ruined my sewing machine, gumming up the needle and bobbin
Oh no! I’ve used rubbing alcohol to clean my needle before.
Did you sew edges right after gluing?
Would you please share your gesso recipe . Thank you!
I haven’t found a gesso recipe I like yet but I do loooove this texture paste recipe from Lorrimarie Jenkins:
1 c powder
1/2 c gesso
1/2 c mod podge
This is best recipe I’ve tried. If u find one u really like please share!
9oz water (~ 1 1/2 c)
4 1/2 oz PVA glue (125 g)
500 g calcium carbonate (chalk )
- add slowly to water & glue
I've tried the powder and the calcium carbonate recipes, not that crazy about either one.
Next time, please show the spine where you sewed the signatures back into the book.
Thank you Kri! This really clarified the process for me! Your finished projects are gorgeous! #JJDivas3000
