I have been a massage therapist for about 15 months now and developing tendinitis in both of my shoulders from using my forearms in massage :( it puts a lot of pressure on my shoulders and now my shoulders ache. I am very upset with this. I don’t know what to do since I rely on my forearms for heavy pressure. Do you have any suggestions?

Sorry to hear that you’re developing tendinitis and you ache in your shoulders ache.
Massage is heavy work and it certainly takes a toll on your body.
Your own body positioning is really important along with the use of your body weight for pressure, rather than pushing through the arms.
Try looking at the position of your forearm and shoulder and try to keep your elbow and forearm inline with your shoulder and not to push too far forward from this.
Also check the positioning of your couch and ensure it’s not too high, as this can effect your pressure, and place more work in your body.
Also it’s important that you get treatment regularly too, ideally at least 1 per month when you don’t have any issues. Try to network for a swap with another therapist if you can.
I hope this helps and look after you.

      Thanks for your comment.
Tools can be useful, and heavier pressure massage techniques useful too 👍🏼
