I grew up in colonades apartments across from waterfall. Used to be an Albertsons. Loews movie theater across street. 1976 .. They bussed us to larkdale elementary..great times in the 70s
@@nosferatusleepaid3159 damn i forgot about canon pointe. I loved growing up there. I used to skip school in the 3rd grade and run the canals around oakland park blvd turtle hunting lol. Did you go to larkdale elementary?
I went to Paul Turner elementary and then I think it was Royal Palm elementary. But I used to practically live on those canals too lol and rock fights across the way
@@nosferatusleepaid3159 yes canon pointe would battle us at colonades. What a different world. We used to have huge football games at colonades. I saw star wars at lowes like 40 times by myself in 76 or 77.
Yes Lauderhill WAS a great place back in the day, now it's not very nice at all. This place is now called the "litter box of Broward" and "LauderKill"........So sad, it could have continued to be a great place.
As a black family we were raised in Lauderhill (west of university dr) since 1987. Back then it was predominantly white. The local schools I attended Elementary/ Middle school were predominantly white and Hispanic. Then in the mid to late 90s most of the whites fled my neighborhood to southern states. Then we saw our neighborhood turn into a mixed melting pot. Many of the whites who fled turned their homes into rentals or section 8 housing. I believe the same happened in Inverrarry, North Lauderdale and Tamarac areas. Unfortunately many of the areas have now went down in quality, safety and upkeep. However west Lauderhill is still nice but still doesn’t have the same cleanliness as in the 80s. I also remember west Lauderhill code enforcement back then were much more stricter.
I like the city, grew up here and can say it has gotten very diverse, which is a great thing. All these other comments seek to poo on the city cause they seem to either have only visited or stopped through, not ever really knowing how great it is.
Great Video of Greater South FLA. Today's Lauderhill has become infested with Section8 Thugs and a Very Poor Element of Ghetto Dysfunctional Race. The Property Value Has Depleted in Lauderhill
Woody Hayes but you didn’t say will full ignorance is to be hated by all you said “Ghetto” ghetto is referred to ignorant blacks. But if you meant all then I shall take back your words

My grand dad worked at the course. He introduced me to Jackie Gleason. Gleason has a condo next to the golf course.
I grew up there too in early 80s just as it was turning and then moved into Cannon Point and it tuned bad
