The base (ramp) of the windshield has a multi port outlet for spraying anti freeze/wash fluid not represented in the kit. Thirty four rivets surround the recessed (19? outlet) spray bar. Reference image can be found on pg, 124 of the Paul H Monforton, Spitfire book. The canopy of the 1/24 Airfix Hellcat kit I built posed in flight was too narrow to fit in the closed position and force would have cracked it so I softened the plastic in hot water, 95C until workable. Fitment was made easy/better, taped to hold in place until cooled and the process removed stress in the part.
Great job on the canopy Nigel looking good mate Finally Eduard have released the spitfire story Malta you can build the spitfires that where defending Malta in ww2 and the 44 page instruction is just beautiful you need to check it out Nige
I made my own masks for the roundels and tail pennants instead of using the decals. The results are very good, especially as this is my first kit in over 40 years. I used masking fluid to hold the gun covers in place and seal the edges which worked a treat. Even my sulky teenagers gave a grudging approval to the results. For your next version with aftermarket parts, the 3D printed exhaust stubs are now available and mine should arrive in the next few days. I note that there are two pairs of cannons in the kit which are slightly different sizes, any ideas why this should be ? Woof to Jess !
Looking good and nice job on the canopy glazing getting a proper fit. May send a pic of that Mustang you just reviewed with you dressed in the team livery if you would like it. Cheers Nigel and woof to Jess.
Hi Nigel, the Spitfire is looking really good, you have done a excellent job, how long before the paint goex on? Keep going well as you always do with your build, best regards to you and your family from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Hi Nigel, that gunsight bracket looks backwards to me. The arms that extend out each side should be flat against the the edge of the cockpit, i.e turned through 180 degrees. Not your mistake but of Airfix.
When near enough is not good enough, send for Nigel. Top work on that canopy. Anybody bored by it can watch Eurovision instead!
Massive bird!!! I applaud your patience with filling!!! Can't wait to see it finished!
Hi Nigel, Beautiful work. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
You bending the clear part had me wincing! Good thing it was in steady hands 😮💺🪟
These parts are surprisingly soft.
Nicely done Nige, Judo enjoyed it too
Nice job! Well done!
Nice job on the canopy Nige, they must have been somewhere warm to go out of shape like that, see you tomorrow.

I think the fit of the canopy on a Spitfire model is pretty much the make or break of the finished quality. Great job Nige.
coming along nicely Nigel must try the mr thin for glass work
getting there!
Great job on the canopy Nigel looking good mate

She's all ready for paint right now Les.. in the next few days there will be a video.

I saw a pic that looked like this? It does look a little chunky to me though?
Hi Nigel, what do you mean by white glue is this PVA?
Sort of.. i think thee are better formulations out there such as Ultra Glue and Krystal Klear.
Did anyone else cringe internally when he "tweaked" the rear canopy? I was waiting for the crack...
Almost too much attention to detail!😂
