The buttons are definitely small for some people. However, I think the SP is one of the better portable console because it's pocket sized. The folding screens makes it really easy to bring anywhere. Might not be the best console of all time but it's certainly one of the best portable consoles.
@kirbeetus Yeah it is nice I did have a go for a bit but my left hand had alot pain after few mins I have miyo mini 2.5inch and new 3 5inch whig is better but for me I love gbc and gba never had sp as a kid
This isn't my first time modding a console and this video was very helpful, but my screen keeps changing the brightness level randomly by itself... I've desoldered the wire and made sure there's no bridging on the board, but the issue persists (brightness changes in random intervals). My soldering seems fine and the brightness button does work, so I've contacted FunnyPlaying's support to return the IPS kit because I'm pretty sure I received a faulty unit... I'm also applying to return their cheap transparent shell that broke off on the right hinge after literally a handful of times opening and closing the GBA. I feel like I got ripped off 🙂
It sounds like it's an issue with the touch sensor. I typically cut them off for this specfic kit. Good luck with their support, I'm sure they will get you sorted.
I'm getting a GBA SP that's pre-modded with a IPS V2 that's soldered so that I can use the brightness button. Will I be able to replace the shell on it without de-soldering that wire? I have no soldering equipment or experience. Please & thank you. Loved your video
Hey there! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Regarding replacing a shell on a pre-modded SP that has a soldered on wire, you won't be able to replace it without de-soldering the wire.
@@VinceHaven Aww, dang. Maybe I'll do some research & try de-soldering it myself. I heard that specific wire is easy. Thank you so much! I'm subscribing now :)
Hey, I'm the guy who asked him to mod the console. I considered red a bit for the button colors but yellow makes it pop more and it's the color of Kirby's warpstar.
Woah! 😮 This is amazing! I love the buttons! I loved my SP very much and actually gave it to my sister who loved it and still has it to this day. That would be a really cool gift idea maybe I can have her send it in to me and try out something like this.
Man, that is such an improvement lol

Where did you get the shell
The link is in the description.
Where'd you get those tools 👀
It's the iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit! I'll leave an affliate link in the description soon :D
Personally I would have gone for red buttons but I like it .
