Erik, I would've asked KEVIN (what they're referred to on the internet) if he was going to pay you for fixing the sidewalk and when he said No then I'd ask him why he cares what you do to it then. And if he said that youre wasting your time just tell him that its YOURS to waste and he shouldn't worry about it.

I can understand his frustration with people who do absolutely nothing with their property for years, but when you said "she", it gave him pause to think. I thought you handled it perfectly by just smiling and saying it makes the neighbourhood look nice. And he had to agree. Not everything is about money. Teaching your kid to do good deeds, doing something just to make it safer to walk and more attractive to look at, doing something for others with no thought of reward -- those are all invaluable. Well said, DH. Exactly what I was thinking. Yes, he started out confrontational, but in the end he sounded frustrated that people are not taking care of their properties.

Landon is such a fine young man. With all the shoving he did. He’s back must hurt him along with his dad’s back That boy is amazing like his wonderful dad Eric. How many fathers and sons do this kind of work for nothing. They have a special bond and they make such a good team. I love that the Eric is passing off his kindness, caring and work ethic for other people to his son. Eric takes on such hard jobs and he works his tail off helping people I think the man was amazed how hard you both worked for nothing. You don’t see that much in this world today. There’s a special place in heaven for you both.

Landon has gone through a growth spurt! He is getting so tall. And he is SUCH a hard worker. 👍 I don't think the neighbor was mad at what you were doing. He sounded frustrated from living with neighbors who for years neglected their property. Not just the property you were working on but others too. So collectively as a street or community it got him frustrated.

In fl the sidewalks are required to be maintained by local gov. Thank you for doing your part clearing the sidewalk. This may help prevent falls and someone being not walking on road and keeping area safe.

Landon is brilliant - a thought though - as a person a little less than 6ft tall, I can attest that it makes a huge difference to get a three quarter shovel, rake etc - work is far easier when one is not fighting the unwieldiness and extra weight of oversize tools; buying a "ladies" garden fork was a revelation to me & now I purposefully seek out the hand tools for my size!.
As he outgrows them, there will be others who will profit from having htem about, too

I just wanted to say that both of you are doing a wonderful job and should be very proud of yourselves. But I also wanted to say that I am thoroughly impressed by the young man helping you. It’s really nice to see younger people outside and learning how to do things and give back to others. We have lost that tradition in this country as time goes by. So kudos to you and him for your amazing work !! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The before condition reminds me of my youth in the 1960's in a rural IL farm town with a lot of turn-of-the-20th-century homes where undulating, root-heaved, sod-covered sidewalks were the norm. All people had were gas small push mowers with no powered edgers, trimmers or leaf blowers in those days to keep the sidewalk well-groomed.

Erik so good to see you giving of your time once again Landon thank you for being such a big help and blessing to your dad. Landon you did make me cold watching especially when you took your jacket off. I'm a lady I wear a lot of dresses so I don't mind your legs being but when you took your coat off I really started to get cold. God bless you both for what you've done to bless another ignore the cranky neighbor he probably was just having a bad day and took it out on you guys it's good that you have God's grace and ability to keep being kind to people like that.
    God bless you both 🤗🤗☃️
