Nice piece of wood. Lucky save. I never noticed that your saw has the handle bar either side. Mine doesn't only the left side, something I've noticed with alot of north American saws
That's referred to as a wrap around handle. All the Stihl Pro saws have it as an option. For instance a MS 661 C-M would have the normal handle while the MS 661 R C-M would have the wrap around handle.
@@hooterspfld I have the same saw as Jason a 500i it's not even an option on Australian models. Looked in the book to. Probably something to do with our safety regulations here. Only ever seen them on the 660's and 880's here.
@@mtozzy11 Interesting just checked my local store and the wrap handle is an option on all the pro saws, in fact this is how they advertise the 500i R: "The MS 500i R -the first chainsaw on the worldwide market with a wrap-handle design and electronically controlled fuel injection."
Too bad you can't get the wrap handle. It really comes in handy in all sorts of situations. I roll the saw around a lot when I'm limbing. If you could somehow order one I would recommend it
@@SJForestProducts never looked in to getting a wrap around handle for it. I do alot of cutting up close on the right hand side of the saw, mainly demolishing timber bridges but it would be handy to have and change out or just buy another saw.
I wonder if you were to get 2 big bases and cut square notches in them it would help to stabilize the piece while cutting. You can add sacrificial wedges to take up space if you make a general size. 🍻👍
Where can I find those metal pieces you have holding the square tubing?
Great video! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Was the log full seasoned or still green?
It had been down for over a year, but I doubt It was seasoned. Thanks for watching and commenting!

That's a great idea!
Logosol F2 would be perfect for this type of work. Too bad its so expensive.
I just checked it out and it looks cool. Have you ever used one? Looks slick
Hard fought $125. With the equipment, time and risk not sure why you defended it
Just trying to show that the $40 log turned into a $150 mantle and still had a $35 log left
