Right On Billy! The turn out was bigger than the video depicted as some left early and weren't in the group shot at the end of the day. Truly stoked surfers to get out and surf those conditions. I really wish I had a camera with a long lens to shoot from the beach now that I've done a feature length video at water's edge. One surfer did shoot some clips from up in the surf shop and it was almost like he was shooting from a drone because of the elevation...his clips were awesome. My intention was to get out on my board right by the surfers but they were so spread out I would have spent all day paddling my guts out to keep up with them so I ended up trying to get as close to them as possible by standing in the water with the as much zoom on as the GoPro has. Poor Brian had to postpone the event twice and then finally got dealt this weather but the waves and the surfers made the day! Thanks for watching Billy as that was a looong one! Cheers, John 😃✌

Hey thanks Lindsey! It was a crazy day as far as the weather went but it wasn't too cold and the water was nice with no gloves or booties. Only wished I had a camera with a long lens so I could have shot this from the beach as the elevation up there allows for to top down view of the action on the water. I just don't have the money for a $1500 camera and lens these days...lol. Did what I could and at least captured the essence of the comp...it was a hoot and the waves stayed with us all day as I got out afterwards and caught a few myself. It was a long one so thanks for taking the time to watch this one! The stoke of all the surfers is what really made the day! 😎👍 Cheers, John 😉
Hi ETY YT, At the beginning of the comp the wind was offshore. If you look at the flag at 0:07 and pause the video, you will see what I mean. In any case, it was one heck of a day for weather but it didn't dampen the spirits of the competitors. Cheers, John 😎
@@ETYSURF Hey ETY YT, so right you are...the wind was onshore at the end of the day for sure...good eye bro! I think we experienced all forms of weather all in one day and the wind sure did a 180°! It was a hoot and I'm sure it will only be better this season. Cheers, John
