Hi, as queen breeders, we do a similar thing with our colonies. We rate our hives on a point system based on individual performance of specific traits. For example, Mite Resistance: (5(3)3). In this context, it would be as follows (Queen Hive Score 1-5(Drone Hive Score 1-5)Current Hive Score 1-5). You would also put the identification number of which those hives came from. We do this to assess the genetic strength of certain traits that we select for when we do our instrumentally inseminated queens. You could do the same with honey production, pollen production, etc etc. It helps guide towards a goal. However, it is used in conjunction with other rating methods, this method alone just helps determine the most-recent historical parentage information and helps set a standard for traits you select.
2 comments. On fastening, the clue is the 2 locations to screw it to the hive. Second there is a phone app that takes the pin positions and logs it into a database so you can go back. You can also add comments.
Hii I have been following you for probably one year not sure Really like your videos ❤ I keep apies cerena bees the are little smaller but all are same traits just the size is different but I have problem I found a disease I feel like it's a virus or fungus not sure Queen layes the egg and it comes to larva stage but the larvae dose not go to next stage of sealing or what we call capping worker bees throw out the larvae soo that keeps on gooing till the coloney get weak abscond
I have nearly 700 boxes can't stop now😅 I will quarantine those boxes and look this year and will try to treat them but next month is going to honey season so no time to treat them thanks for help
Has the supplier got suggestions on how they are using these. I'd expect aflip book of notebookpages or use this to inspect then take back to your notebook
I think the hive number you pinned is 731?
Yeah I came here to say that xD
Same here lol

There is an app now also so you can record the changes.
Velcro on the roof
That's a neat idea! Love it :)
Velcro to the side out of the elements, work with it on top at standing hight.
I was kinda thinking of putting brad nails (finishing nails) since the hives are made of poly or wood, I think that might work.

@@vprocap1888 sounds like high varroa or mite loading
@BlackMountainHoney I have seen solutions for mites but I haven't seen any mites
@@vprocap1888 you generally don't see them but see their impact
@@BlackMountainHoney yes devastating

Can see it fading and the pins rotting
Convert to an app with a smart square as your reference for each hive. Scan it, up date the boxes and then save. Quick and easy?
At first I thought it was a pad of papers to use a pencil.

Take a photo with phone for record of time & date
Maybe take a photo with phone then you have record of the date & time
