I got a 327 I was gonna drop into my 88 S10 until I was told the 5 speed transmission wouldn’t handle it. Mine has berg Werner 5 speed and I always thought they were pretty tough 🤷🏼‍♂️. But apparently not
So instead I rebuilt the 2.5 EFI iron duke 4 cylinder. 40 over. Glad I did after what’s happened to gas prices. It’s my daily driver now. I need to shoot a video I guess. My dad bought the truck brand new in 1988. I was 3 years old and picked it out at the Chevy dealer. 9000 bucks new. I had it repainted victory red again and she looks and runs brand new again👍🏻. Nobody has enough money to buy it from me 😀. Priceless. Dad passed away 6 months ago and his little red truck lead him to the cemetery

Very cool story. So sorry for your loss though. I can’t imagine losing my father. He is and always will be my best friend and mentor. Post some pics. That is awesome that you kept it going. Very interested in your build.

I had a similar story. my Dad bought a 97 S10 Reg Cab, Short Bed with 4cyl and 5spd. he loved it and so did I. my dad and I and brother took summer trips in his old 78 chevy truck and camper shell and spent summers driving across country, fun times. well before he died he bought a brand new s10 and a couple months later passed away. so brother and I took his ttuck and did another cross country road trip with his ashes and finally stopped in Texas where he grew up and spread his ashes on top of a mountain he sId he always wanted to explore. I kept the truck for a while but then had to get rid since I had no space to store and nobody wanted another vehicle. I kick myself often, wishi g I found a way to hang on to that thing! we both likes muscle cars and talked about building a car together. I think the s10 would have been a fun LS swap or SBC swap project.

I got a 1984 s10 2wd blazer with a 1968 SBC Corvette engine built to a 408ci stroker engine built by Redline performance in maine. It's got the 200r4 monster transmission in it with the performance build. Trac bars, 373 rear gears, B&M MEGASHIFTER, Performer RPM intake, Holley 650cfm carb. Rated for 1000hp. Aluminum driveshaft, digital dash, to much to list. Love your ride.👍

Thanks I appreciate that. At the time of the video being made it had a 7.625 rear end out of a Camaro. A little 10 bolt. If I remember correctly it was 3.43 gears. Since then I have upgraded to a Quick Performance Ford 9 inch with 35 spline axles and 4.11 gears. I also went with Calvert Racing Caltracs and the split mono leaf spring. The trans is a brand new TCI reverse shift pattern and a trans brake with a Jegs 3500 stall. The motor I’ve had for about 25 years. It’s a 350 that’s been bored to a 355. It came out of a 70 Caprice. It’s been rebuilt 3 times. Nothing really major. A little head work dome pistons big cam and big carb. It’s been an ongoing project for about 6 years now. These parts are getting really expensive……. Lol.

@@manueldeleon5919 I Thought back in 1999 when I Owned two Z-28's. One a White 1983 with a 305CID 5.0L and a 350 Transmission. The other a Black 1984 with a 305CID 5.0L with a 700R4 Transmission. I got a 350CID 5.7 from my Cousin Kurt just the block and a engine stand. Anyways I thought about putting the 305 heads on the 350 block because I'd figure It would be more compression. To this day I still don't know if that would work? And never seen anyone else do what I had just explained. I ended up selling the 700R4 Transmission to Steve a kid I knew that had a 1991 TransAm 350 for $100 dollars. Used the 1984 for parts and drove the 1983 Z-28. I rebuilt the engine but could never figure out how to adjust the values for the Rocker's. Sold that car in 2001 for a few hundred dollars.

@@manueldeleon5919 is it a hard swap to manual brakes? I have an 89 s10 waiting on motor and was told it won’t work well with power breaks. Also, I’ve heard many different things about the manual valve body, can you downshift while moving? Say you were in 3rd but had to slow down because someone turned, could you drop it back in 2nd regularly or should it be avoided?
