I’m Thai living in Chiang Mai. There was one time that my mom and I parked our car at a big busy shopping mall and went shopping for several hours. When returning she couldn't find her car key and thought she left it inside our car, but when we reached the car, we were so shocked to see that it was left in the keyhole of the car door handle! Anyone could just unlock our car and drive it away but we were so grateful that it didn't happen! I, personally, left my car parked accidentally unlocked a couple of times in public and nothing was stolen from my car.
Growing up in Thailand we feel quite safe in all-Thai environments such as schools or the office because Thai people have quite deep belief in karma and feel quite strongly about not stealing, but we still advise you to be cautious in crowded tourist-heavy places with lots of foreigners. Every year the police catch thousands of Vietnamese & Cambodian pickpocket gangs that target foreign tourists. After they are caught and deported, they just come back again illegally through the natural borders. They know Thailand is a popular tourist spot with foreigners so it is a prime target destination.

For many years, Thai society has fostered a feeling of ethics. But the area where foreign workers congregate on holidays, such as Central Rama II, Big C Ladprao, etc., is where you should exercise caution. Due to the fact that they speak different languages, they are not impacted by this consciousness cultivation.

When I lived in Australia, I was about to move to a new place so I tried to clear stuff that I couldn't take with me (too much of a hassle to take everything). I planned to give my bike away too, so I took the bike out. Then I thought I should put a note on the bike "free to take" or something to let people know, so I went back in my room to grab some pen and paper. The bike was stll in driveway when I left, in the property, not outside. The gate wasn't locked (never was) but normally I always locked my bike to a pole, that time I didn't. I swear that it was not even 5 minutes, when I came back the bike was gone. I wasn't upset because I planned to let anyone take it anyway, but I was confused whether I should be. Would you say I successfully "gave away" my bike to a stanger, or my bike got "stolen" before I could give it away? LOL

Hi ARsen. Again a very good and useful video. Thank you very much. For tourists it is probably impossible to pay for goods with the QR code. What are the common payment methods for tourists? Cash, credit card? Are credit cards accepted at street vendors? Thank you very much.
This remind me of last year in Bangkok, when I went to watch Black Panther 2 I accidentally left my ticket for like 10 minutes. I notice when the movie is going to start that I lost my ticket, so I went back to where I walk pass by and found it on the floor, no one pick it up.
Just be careful about Cambodian on the street ,, most of them are beggars and thieves. last time I almost lost my bag in the bus stop during wait for a Grab and the women selling a flowers nearby me, she tried to stole my bag, but lucky biker nearby he saw her and he came to helped me then we catches her. as a Biker said she spoke Thai a lil bit but her accent was Cambodian. But I haven’t sent her to the cops because my Grab was arrived at the moment.😢
Great experiments. Results as I would have expected. My experiences are consistent with your experiments. Just look at the thousands of motorbike helmets for the taking every day. And yet, they all remain undisturbed.
I left my smart watch near a beach in Phuket, After an hour I realized that my watch is not on my wrist. I came back all the way, surprisingly my watch was there after 2 hours and no one touched it.
I remember my very first day I was in Thailand I was going from Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang airports, whilst in the bus i had my brand new solar portable battery charger out as I was charging my phone. Then all of a sudden I realized I'm at my drop-off point, so I jumped up and quickly got off the bus forgetting the charger still in the bus. Well, the bus was just taking off when it suddenly stopped, the bus doors opened and a lovely Thai lady who must have been sitting near me calls out to me with the charger in her hand. At the time that charger was an expensive type that I bought specifically for the trip. The feeling i got that moment was indescribable! This very moment I fell in love with Thailand and the Thai people.
I was once helping my sister sell eggs and stuff. I miscalculated the price. After realizing that, i quickly search for her and found that she was about the start her car, i politely said sorry and returned additional 5 Baht change to her. She was shocked 😂😂😂
@@e-hoirossukon6581 It's not quite an extortion when the law allows it. According to Thai's law, anyone who find lost item and send it back to the owner is entitled to 10% compensation or more. Depending on the item's value.
5:24 Hey Arsen ! I can't help but noticed that not only the scooter that you left in the place for this test, but also your camera. So both scooter and camera are passed this honesty test 😇😇
Normally, Thai people have a basic understanding of not interfering with other people's belongings. If it is not their own, no one will bother with it unless it is identical and misunderstood, or the item has been left there for an abnormally long time. As with any society in the world, there may be people who do not follow this rule. However, I believe that they may be going through a very difficult time and are forced to behave in a negative way. You should not experiment with this, as you may be lucky enough to encounter one of these people and cause some problems.
I'm a Thai person. Basically, Thai people don't like to steal from anyone. I used to leave my camera at the temples I visited. who traveled with the company I work for There are dozens of employees who go together. But I don't know all of them. I was nervous and thought that I probably wouldn't get it back. After a week, I got it back from my supervisor. He said someone picked it up and opened the photo in the camera and my face appeared in it. but he doesn't know me Find and ask everyone. Until my supervisor knew it was my camera.
After watching this clip Pickpockets disguised as tourists from neighboring countries would likely change their target from pickpocketing tourists at markets to watching tourists who leave their belongings for a long time.

Hey, I'm going to be in Thailand soon. I know this is a stretch but I'd love to make some content with you while I am there. Dinner and drinks on me!!
very good vids,,thanks
Thank you so much for this video. You made my day 😃😃😃😃😃
Thanks for your honesty too 😉❤
👍
Hi ARsen.
Again a very good and useful video. Thank you very much.
For tourists it is probably impossible to pay for goods with the QR code. What are the common payment methods for tourists? Cash, credit card? Are credit cards accepted at street vendors?
Thank you very much.
Street vendors do NOT accept credit cards!! Just pay CASH!
In stores you can pay with debit or credit cards.
For street vendors you can pay with money apps (Thai) or cash only
Credit card transactions are difficult for merchants. Because there are many conditions But you can pay by cash or through Thai banking apps.
This remind me of last year in Bangkok, when I went to watch Black Panther 2 I accidentally left my ticket for like 10 minutes. I notice when the movie is going to start that I lost my ticket, so I went back to where I walk pass by and found it on the floor, no one pick it up.
Looks safe.
But I haven’t sent her to the cops because my Grab was arrived at the moment.😢
great points 😀 keep posting 🥂
Welcome
JetSki scammers,skin-tax, Buffalo payment.
having said that, if you meet the right Thai people they are the most wonderful people
Great experiments. Results as I would have expected. My experiences are consistent with your experiments. Just look at the thousands of motorbike helmets for the taking every day. And yet, they all remain undisturbed.
I left my smart watch near a beach in Phuket, After an hour I realized that my watch is not on my wrist. I came back all the way, surprisingly my watch was there after 2 hours and no one touched it.
great vlog ty 👍
thank you for this video.
Wonderful
I was once helping my sister sell eggs and stuff. I miscalculated the price. After realizing that, i quickly search for her and found that she was about the start her car, i politely said sorry and returned additional 5 Baht change to her. She was shocked 😂😂😂
Thanks good VDO
Most welcome
glad you like it But just some people ❤
I went 3 years ago to an experience where l left my phone in a taxi.
The driver demanded 3000.00 Baht to return it to me!!
So much to "honesty".
You should report it to the police or tourist police because this is extortion.
*Don't let the wicked go unpunished.
@@e-hoirossukon6581 It's not quite an extortion when the law allows it. According to Thai's law, anyone who find lost item and send it back to the owner is entitled to 10% compensation or more. Depending on the item's value.
Sir you got a Cambodian taxy driver.
Should also be noted you are in a high end mall. Better to test in the slum areas.
He already said that you might not get the same result everytime.
This is tourism boosting propaganda.
5:24 Hey Arsen ! I can't help but noticed that not only the scooter that you left in the place for this test, but also your camera. So both scooter and camera are passed this honesty test 😇😇
Exactly 👍 good point
Should still be careful, because Thailand is mixed with locals, migrant workers, and tourists. Not everyone has the same value/honesty.
I love this video❤❤❤
I'm a Thai person. Basically, Thai people don't like to steal from anyone. I used to leave my camera at the temples I visited. who traveled with the company I work for There are dozens of employees who go together. But I don't know all of them. I was nervous and thought that I probably wouldn't get it back. After a week, I got it back from my supervisor. He said someone picked it up and opened the photo in the camera and my face appeared in it. but he doesn't know me Find and ask everyone. Until my supervisor knew it was my camera.
Scooter is 100% risk to be left even locked. It’s impossible you always left it like that and not lost it.
Can you see in this test that he also left his camera recording and amazingly it seemed untouched as well ?
Challenge you to try this in Cambodia.
Guarantee that it's gone for sure.👍👏
After watching this clip Pickpockets disguised as tourists from neighboring countries would likely change their target from pickpocketing tourists at markets to watching tourists who leave their belongings for a long time.
8:50 is that Korean spicy instant noodle? If it is that suppose to rinse off water before but sauce on it.
Hello my friend.i want know about changmai, please make video about tourist places, and costing from Bangkok to changmai.thanks
Great video this. Today I paid 1000,- too much by a mistake to a taxi-driver. He came after me and gave me the money back 😄 I am a tourist.
