A lot of symphonic bands (after forever and nightwish at this time as well as therion) were staring to actually pay for orchestras to analog record it as the realistic vst's were incredibly unstable. Unfortunatley Jari used this excuse alot for why time 1 was being delayed. Now any time wintersun does anything to make money (jari writes and records and album liek the forest seasons) then crowdfunds its release (liek presales for honestly a lot of shit liek raw stims etc) they catch hell. They released a lot of behind the scenes shit on patreon that apparently has people who aren't paying bitching... Honestly i've never seen a more entitled fanbase.
Information on that 127% processor load that Apple shows you: 100% load on Apple devices are not for the whole CPU but only one core/thread. That means if you have 8 threads, you have 800% maximum, 4 threads = 400% maximum and so on. So 127% on a Mac Pro are actually very little.
Just built a computer to upgrade from a MacBook, same as you switched to apple for music / productivity and never looked back. I couldn't drop on a Mac Pro but for the price of a new Solar A1.8C I built a Win/Mac dual boot pc that is as fast as a base model Mac Pro. The setup was a massive headache but like 10k saving. Congrats on the new Mac anyway, what a glorious day to behold.
I know several people have asked, but you said that you specd’ it up to be able to work without any hinderance. Now you’ve got us all interested in what the specs are and maybe what you changed from what they offer on the base model.
I had a mac mini since 2011 and I know we all think it was a mater of time you make this upgrade. I sold my mini and made a hackintosh and I totally get your feeling. You don't realise how much you limit your work with a mini until you made 32 tracks of neural dsp and reverb! Congrats men!
I just picked up a Macbook Pro 16 spec'd out in the medium range for recording and doing 4k-6k editing for a new youtube channel. Macs are just extremely efficient at what they do and they are incredibly simple to operate compared to PC. I love both my Macbook and my PC desktop but this thing hands down smashes the PC when it comes to production!!! Would love to see more videos of how you work through Logic Pro X to master songs as well as what you are using for your UA-cam videos!
I just bought a top of the line Macbook Pro for my studio a month ago; Yesterday they announce the transition to ARM chips and I feel pretty conflicted. You're still within the two-week return window! Something to consider.

I was an Apple fanboy for years and got into working on a pc when I changed jobs 11 years ago and haven't looked back, however I can completely understand that this is seriously an exciting day and having everything working in the same ecosystem that you are used to is definitely a plus. A 100 Cpu intensive plugins at ounce, that's insanely cool !!! When I run Izotope & Waves mastering plugins on PC, I am maxed out at 15 with some struggle. Intel I7 6700 Quadcore & Hyperthreading at 32gb of ram--- Windows 10. You're stoked 🤘🤘.

I love Apple, but their prices have gotten a bit ridiculous. My first Mac was a top spec 17" MacBook Pro (I still have it and it still works), and then I moved to the next gen 15" MacBook Pro. I was planning on buying a top spec 16" MacBook Pro in january this year, but I just couldn't make myself pay that much for a laptop despite how much I love the Apple stuff. Tried building a hackintosh instead, which is cool and all, but... it just isn't a Mac, so I've been using it more as a gamer PC since I built because it has dual boot with Windows 10 on a secondary SSD. Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do with my recording setup, which is based on my 15" MacBook Pro, that I had hoped to migrate that to the hackintosh. The hackintosh runs OSX Catalina, which in hindsight was a bad choice because not all of my music software is fully supported yet. I'm kind of stuck between PCs at the moment! :-P

I have been an apple fan for years. It just works. No driver issues and seamless. Same when I used a macbook pro for live gigs. But for me... apple have pushed their prices far too much hence threadripper and going back to pc was the obvious option for price and quality

Man, I just set out to redo my audio rig/workstation. The starting point was Apple, but I guess I just didn't realize the cost of a Mac Pro. Touch a couple features and you're already at $20k. I did come up with a pretty beastly PC for a fraction of the cost though, and even came in under the cost of a base level Mac Pro. Definitely not one of those PC master race tools, I would have loved the Mac, but I still feel really good that I got a top flight PC and wound up spending less.
My hero is the Fedex driver because they bring goodness on Saturdays as well. Oh and the Amazon guy too for Sunday. I like that you just don't take a stance on PC vs Mac and arbitrarily call one better than the other and only use one We've used Macs since the 90s, but if we want to game it's PC/Xbox all the way. Every tool has its purpose.

Haters gonna hate, but it's a practical solution even if it's not an inexpensive solution. Yes, he could "just learn another program" and use a PC. But if you're a guitar player and want an orchestra on your track, do you just go ahead and learn all the instruments? Unless you're Prince, no. You just use a synth or a sample because It takes too much time from the job to be done: finish the song so you can work on the next one. Learning all about multiple video or audio programs makes you a a video editor or recording engineer and not a content producer. Ola produces content so he uses what he knows so he can create what he wants quickly and move onto the next project. Viva Ola.

Shit. Those are so expensive! I just snagged a new 27” iMac with an i9 and I love it. I made sure it was fully loaded. It was a little under 3k when it was all said and done. I’ve never paid that much for a computer, but it was totally worth it. I can run a fuckton of Virtual Instruments at the same time now.

For what most folks, a laptop will do all they need with 4,6 or 8 cores of processing power.
