    I just purchase on of these for my cabin brush. GREAT mods to this. Really like the hose extension. That is a better set up than the bag. Most reviews complain about the cheap bag & the way it mounts.

    These units have 2 sets of blades. The top hopper has a set just for shredding leaves and the front chute has different blades for chipping branches, That is why the top hopper does not work well on branches.. BTW. I like the mods that you did.

    Love the gutter adapter and 4 inch dryer vent. Probably going to use that idea. Great mods all the way around! Thanks for sharing.

    That's a sweet mod. I have been lifting mine into the back of my pickup and driving it around. I'm gonna give this a try.

    Great idea on the dryer hose. I'm going to try that on my HF chipper.

      It broke down over time so I switched to the black drain pipe (same size), it holds up better.

    I also meant to comment that I have a extra collapsible plastic duct tube that was used on a portable AC unit (Heat exhaust tube). Think I'll give that a try.

      Over time this duct collapsed so I started using the black 4" drain pipe. It holds up better.

    Thanks for the idea on the gutter adapter. Just put one on my SuperHandy chipper from Amazon. Have to pick up the dryer hose. The bags on these chippers are crap.

      I found that the dryer hose I had didn't hold up for long. Replaced it with the black plastic corrugated drain pipe. It last longer. Thanks for watching.

    You might consider using a thumb screw instead of the sheet metal screw. That way it's quick and easy to disconnect from the chute.

    Like the Dryer Tube idea. May I suggest putting wing nuts on the Clean out plate, and the limb tube. Makes it easier to remove to clean out the chipper. I would make the hole for the chipper plate larger. Have seen other videos. One guy, his shredder kept getting the half inch limbs wrap around the Cutter. He said the clean out was to small. So he had to take the side of the chipper off. Which included removing the hopper. He said he had to do it several times. Which he said was a pain. Making the access panel opening bigger would keep from having to go to all that trouble.

    Thank you for the update. I am looking at getting this chipper from HF.

    Marvelous idea with the laundry tubing. Does it still throw to the truck when the wood is wet?

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  4 місяці тому +1

      No, it doesn't work well with wet wood. I try to let it all dry before chipping.

    Nice mod Henry! Picked up an older Earthquake with the 11.5HP Briggs, but same design. I thought I had bought larger than 4" downspout adapters at Home Depot or Lowes recently. This weekend largest found was 4". Do you have the width and length dimensions of the one you put on your mod? Measuring 5" seems min, 6" might be better. Thanks!

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  6 місяців тому

      Yea 5" will work (I've even used 4) but 6 is better. With the 4 or 5 it will stop up from time to time.

    That is a great idea. I am purchasing to make cedar chips this winter and I was wondering how to channel them into a confined area.

      It works great but I did change to a heaver black pipe. The dryer pipe didn't hold up long.

  • @NilsKall

    I would have thought a long hose like that would clog but it seems to work fine!

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, you just have to feed slow and make sure one goes through before feeding the next one.

  • @RCPSU4

    I like this modification better than another one I've seen. The dryer hose looks tougher compared to a dust collector hose. The cart we use is low to the ground compared to the newer ones, but I think this would work well for us. I think this would spray well in to flower beds and gardens with someone holding it like one of those mulch blowers. How much did the discharge modification materials cost roughly? Just have to run it by the old finance group next.

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  2 роки тому

      I think the dryer hose was around 12.00 and the gutter adapter was about 6.00 but with inflation I'm sure it will be higher tomorrow. LOL

    I would think that corrugated drainage hose would be even better. It would stand up to a lot of abuse.

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  8 місяців тому

      Yes, you're right ian, I later changed to the corrugated drain pipe and it's working much better. I guess I should do an "updated video". LOL Thanks for watching.

  • @raduborcoman6005

    How did you hook up the hose?

    • @DoubleMFarmHomestead
      @DoubleMFarmHomestead  2 роки тому

      A rain gutter adapter. The square end fit over the chipper outlet(drilled two holes for screws to hold it in place) then pipe fit over round end of adapter. I have since switched to black drain pipe, the dryer pipe didn't hold up.

  • @Flip2Flower1
    @Flip2Flower1 2 роки тому +2

    You claim not to be smart in your video, then you fabricate a fancy hose system and later updated it with black corrugated pipe that outsmarted the engineers of the chipper. Don’t be so hard on yourself fella
