Nicely done! I like the head on angle how you could see the effect of the water on the blade roll. It was nice you didn’t spend an unnecessary amount of time at each level of the progression. The microscope footage was great too. It seemed like there were a couple of blowouts of the steel but I’ve noticed that’s not uncommon on the softer Sheffield steel. They’re usually fine with stropping. Cheers Mate!
Thx a lot Matt, truly appreciated. And yeah you're right, Sheffield steel is quite soft and I'm wondering if the Naniwa slurry could have had a negative impact on this one... As I'm quite picky, I've decided to re-hone it fully, this time, starting with Shapton 1k and 5k and see if I get a different result.
@@FroggyShave where do you get your JNAT and nagura from please? I also want to say thank you; I have learned so much from you on my razor sharpening and restoring journey.
@@Michael.Nelson really appreciate your kind words. There's still chips in the final edge. While the old Sheffield's tend to have softer steel I've noticed the steel tends to be harder on the rattler style razors such as this one. I have one very similar to this and I find it more difficult to hone than regular blades.
100% with you on the honing difficulty. I actually had to hone it another time to obtain a better edge. These smiley W&B look really good but I much prefer to hone Solingen straight flat blades for example, much easier.
I have a Wade & Butcher smiling wedge razor. I have a devil of a time honing it. Watching your video, I see you use more wrist with no pressure to manipulate the blade.
Hi there, I can confirm I much prefer honing straight blades, it takes me.way more time to properly hone a smiling blade. The challenge is always to find the right angle and have a very steady wrist move. Good luck mate 👍💈
Thanks gor posting this. I really enjoyed these type of videos
Thanks a lot for your support 😊👍
Good work, , nice!!!! Obrigado
