    Man! The Tyre turning tip is just priceless. i have a 2010 civic same engine but face-left trim. I try to do all my own work on it to save money. Thanks for the great video.

    The internals of your engine is really clean. I could tell that you do your oil change regularly 👍

    most honda engines require valve adjustment in their lifetime if your mechanic does adjust them be sure he does it when the engine is perfectly cool overnight would be ideal I hope you enjoy your civic for years to come

      Do I need to drain the oil first?

    • @jasonjudge7966
      @jasonjudge7966  8 років тому +1

      No, no need to drain the oil just do not start the engine with the cover off thanks for watching

    Something worth mentioning is, when the crank (or wheel in your case!) is turned to turn the cam sprocket, when the applicable piston number (1, 3, 4 and 2) is at TDC, there are two horizontal groves at each cam sprocket edge which should line up with the cylinder head casing, these can be seen in the video. Good video, thanks.

      @battosaijenkins946 6 років тому

      Also worth mentioning, at 2:57 he says intake yet points to the back, and says exhaust when he points to the front. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? In other words, front is intake (near the bumper) and the rear is exhaust towards the exhaust no?

    • @turquoisecat761
      @turquoisecat761 6 років тому +1

      Hi, no, the video is correct, the exhaust valves will be near the exhaust manifold, so front of car in this case.

    • @battosaijenkins946
      @battosaijenkins946 6 років тому

      @Stuart Price, so then where are the intake valves?

    • @turquoisecat761
      @turquoisecat761 6 років тому

      As he shows in the video, the intake valves will be directly opposite the exhaust valves, so exhaust valves nearest headlights, and intake valves nearest bulkhead (on this particular car anyway).

    this is my first video a few things i said wrong it was a stubby screwdriver not a spanned and it was a coil pack cover not coil over cover hahaha

    If you know the fireing sequence engine only needs two full turns to adjust all valves on any make and model 4 cylinder engine Only... thanks.

    Hi,
    Do you have any info what are the valve clearance values for Honda Civic R16A2 engine? This engine is for the 8th generation 1.6 Civic Sedan.

  • @weldorguy
    @weldorguy 4 роки тому

    Hey mate, that’s the maximum gap they should be....that’s what they should wear to. (You’ll find your exhaust tighter than your intake for that reason...it wears out later on.
    Some guys loosen these up...which is the wrong way to do it. The car will sound like I tractor with them being loose.
    Nice tutorial tho

    Jason, thank you for the video. It is very helpful. A side question, when you take off the valve cover, is there a place to change the spark plug seal as well? Anyone know? It wasn't obvious in the video. Thanks a bunch.

    • @jasonjudge7966
      @jasonjudge7966  7 років тому

      shawtydat hi no there is no spark plug seal on this engine the valve cover is separated and they have individual coil packs you may be referring to another engine for example the 2.0 ivtec found in the fn2 type r has plug seals.

    • @shawtydat
      @shawtydat 7 років тому

      You're right. I found out why there was oil in my spark plug wells, though. The valve cover was worn, so oil was leaking through the front of the block. Apparently, some oil (and other liquids) can seep into the plug wells because it's not air tight. Once I replaced the valve cover gasket, all the wells have been dry. I was asking because when I ordered the gasket from RockAuto, they sent spark plug seals...I just threw those away because it's not for the 8th gen R18s. Thanks.

    Could you do a fuel filter change video for this car? it has an in tank filter. No one has a video about that yet

    • @jasonjudge7966
      @jasonjudge7966  7 років тому

      +Civic R I'm afraid I no longer have this car but now have a fn2 type r the fuel filter for the 1.8 is actually in the fuel tank and requires you to drop the fuel tank from the car and access it from the top most of the time honda will tell you it doesn't need to be changed but they tell you this so they don't have to warrant pumps cause the filters are never changed

      First of all, thanks for the video. What about the i-shift gearboxes, which are also considered as manual gearboxes? It's not possible to set it on 5th gear. Any suggestions how to proceed?

    • @jasonjudge7966
      @jasonjudge7966  7 років тому

      +Pilibos Cholakyan for semi auto and auto you have to put the vehicle in neutral and put a socket onto the crank pulley of the engine and turn the engine that way it requires taking off the wheel and using a long reach to get onto the pulley cheers

    hvad happens if you never do this?

    • @jasonjudge7966
      @jasonjudge7966  7 років тому

      overby78 valves will get looser over time causing tapping noises and if left to get too loose can cause the valve and seat to be almost hammered by the impact of too much valve to cam clearance think of it like a hammer being pushed on a nail then being loose and having a gap between the hammer and nail making a slight impact everytime

    • @overby78
      @overby78 7 років тому

      okay.. Can the engine break down i you down`t have it done? my 1,8 sport 2007 have gone 281000km,( pendler car) ( still have the original clutch) And what about the timing chain. how long/ how many km do they go before they have to be replaced?

    • @jasonjudge7966
      @jasonjudge7966  7 років тому +1

      overby78 yes it can cause the valvetrain to fail and be damaged to the point of having to pull the head off the engine and replace damaged valves and possibly the head itself if the seats are badly damaged as far as timing chains they have been known to last as long as 300000 miles as long as the oil and oil filter has been changed often I would imagine your car has done alot of motorway miles to be on the original clutch still

    Nice job if it's the first video. I've Honda Civic 2010 the same engine. It's over a 100000 Km now. The engine makes a little noice while accelerating, my mechanic says this car doesn't have the option of valve adjustment. I'm astonished to see the option available here.

    • @MrLew1965
      @MrLew1965 8 років тому

      Do some homework on valve lash and valve clearance on the internet OR maybe tell your mechanic to do some homework on valve adjustment and clearances ! There are specified valve clearance and torque numbers available for all engines made from every manufacturer on the planet. If the vehicles engine starts "ticking" very loud, it can be isolated to 1 or possibly ALL the valves and adjustments according to specs can alleviate this "lash" your hearing in the valve assembly! Good Luck !

    Thanks for the video. Would you know how to change the PCV valve on the 1.8?
    I have a very high pitch wine on mine and some say its the valve. I have a link to my video below;

    Pls do not listen to the info this guy is giving about the oil weight. Honda engineers know a lot more about the engines they designed than this guy. In the stone age you could put a thicker oil in your crankcase to "help keep things tight" 😳 If you try this with a newer machine of any type you will damage a lot of expensive things in your modern well engineered vehicle. THICKER OIL THAN SUGGESTED IS A OLD OLD OLD FIX. DO NOT PUT ANY OTHER OIL THAN WHAT THE ENGINEERS SUGGEST, NOT A BACKYARD HACK.🤪

      You are correct Always refer to your user manual for oil weights and grades in this engine the honda manual states a range of 0w30 up to 15w40 depending on ambient temperature
