As a Pk myself this conversation is real and deep! It’s hard being a PK…then becoming a Pastor and seeing your kid in the PK role. People place expectations on PKs before they can form words and that pressure is what drove a lot of us away!! We have to remember let the kids live but still have integrity of being a Pk

I have been extremely depressed these last week and these episodes have brought some much needed laughter. I was literally laughing the entire episode with these great men of God. Super thankful for this podcast. Helping me through such a tough time.
I am now a PK, my mother married a pastor. Never knew the responsibilities of “filling in the gaps” regarding the needs of the church. It’s a task of Big. Big. Big needs to fill. And with a good heart.

At 40 this conversation is a trigger I wasn't ready for. I've given up having this conversation to make my father understand how his allegiance to church was far greater than his allegiance to his children and they still can't understand or car.

Keep him lifted before God. Itll take time but God softened Pharaoh’s heart he can do the same with your father.
Keep yourself lifted so that it doesn’t hinder your healing process. And remember the scripture “For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.”

I’m Pastor’s Kid and now a Pastor. To think that my kids are not Pastor’s Kids is a wild reality at times. They are experiencing their Grandfather Pastor and their Dad pastor 2 different churches. They handle it with so much maturity.
The comic relief was amazing. Pastor Mark turned into the little brother in this episode. Awesome transparency! Blessings to you all!

I can’t lie about it, this episode has me looking at preachers kids, even kids like myself whose parents weren’t ministers, but were there every single night of revival, Sunday service and the 3pm service out of town, differently with grace and mercy. Shout out to all you guys and your families. As I recall, the worst was on a selfish level. The homework somehow had to all be done before Friday night. We get home around 10, it’s straight to bed, like they expected us to be unconscious the minute head hit pillow, lol. You got school in the morning, lol.

My mother is a missionary & my dad is a pastor. Both things happened after they had divorced and are in separate ministries. So the story for my siblings and I is a mix between a preacher’s kid and a pastor’s kid. Didn’t have the full weight like the Moore kids, but there was still an expectation. No one really questioned whether we were good students or not because people knew then Sis/Missionary Rogers. Of course they are good students. Of course they are respectful. Of course they carry themselves well and don’t talk crazy. Now with our dad, it was more of our relationship with him that we felt the weight. He’s not our pastor so he’s had to learn and is still learning how to turn that off. And there’s more of course, but it really places in my mind what to prioritize and be encouraged (listening to Apostle Clack, Bishop Jacobs, Supt. Green) that it’s a learning process, it’s going to change as time goes on and you’re going to have to try different things and that’s okay! I think and hope that this takes a lot of pressure off of people in ministry with families.

This episode was powerful, for lack of words - you all truly understand the weight of the topic. I wish every Pastor and preacher could listen to this, as some allow their kingdom assignment to overshadow their role as a parent. Too often, the demands of ministry lead to unintentional and intentional harm, with some allowing the congregation’s (sheep) words and actions to affect their children. Meanwhile, others are strategic in protecting their children while fulfilling the calling.
I pray this episode brings healing and insight to all who hear it. I wish this was an ongoing topic and/or a way to do this with an audience of pk kids and etc. Healing is needed in the church!

This was an awesome conversation. I'm a Pastor kid and I can relate to this in many aspects. However, my experience was a bit challenging and in a way kinda hard to express the things I've seen growing up. Even after my parents died within 2yrs apart 💔 😔. I took on the ministry and had to step away due to a lot of unresolved things ive never was able to share or vent about. Which turned into Anger and Resentment towards God and the Church. As of now, between me reconnecting with God and acknowledging I needed to see a Therapist. I can say I'm in a better place. Please continue to keep me in your prayers that I get back to my purpose.
