NOTE: If you take out the extra CHA and start with 16 CON and grab the hag hair and up your DEX to 18 before those two ASIs, you can put 2 in DEX then use the 2nd ASI to put 2 in CON, giving you 20 DEX and 20 CON (with the constitution armor I wear here) and you'll hit 31 AC and not 30. So there, that's even better.
Just read this and laughed I thought I was gonna be the first to say this. I have a janky build thats hitting hard. Unfortunately just realized in act three that my duel wield attack is using my bonus attack in one motion. So im currently respecting to get more by maybe taking my duel weild to a range with twohand build. Anyway I killed those 3 trolls after using them for a bit and got a crown that brought my intelligence to max out at 17. My stats at level currently sit at st12 dex20 con20 Int18 wis10 cha12. BEAST of a build. She's a 5 ranger (+attack) 3 rogue (+bonus attack) 1 Wiz for missle and scribes and 1 fighter so I can have both ranged and duel weild. But as said might change to two handed so I actually get that second attack. Now that I noticed that my second weapon takes up the bonus action when I attack I can't find a way around it. And I also noticed that when I equip weapons that are lower in damage than the rest in my inventory, proficient and all, that the melee dmg, attack bonus; regardless if it's on main or off hand is higher than the weapons I have with higher damage. In act three and just realizing idk what the heck I'm doing.
I really dislike the, "this build does X attacks per round", when it's really this build can do X attack ONCE per short rest, and has X-Y attacks 90+% of the time. After watching a few dozen build videos, if they tote the number of attacks, it's a BS 1 time burst, usually with action surge.
This video was great, and like you said at the start, not a lot of videos on dual wield styles. So, thank you for this, much detail and background on this set up. I did a very similar build on my own, but I used the two finesse longswords, cause like most people I wanted to make a Drizzt build, but couldn't find strong scimitars.
Interesting build. Have you thought about changing the barbarian level for the great old one warlock to frighten enemies in area with your crits? Also gaining a couple of cantrips and one level 1 spell (like Hex, which has no save and adds +1d6 necrotic damage to all your attacks against the target) To compensate the AC loss, Armor of Agility gives you 17 AC + Dex, so is bigger than the Con AC from barbarian. The helmet you are showing is quite good too, but since the build is looking for a critical fiesta, I would consider using Sarevok helmet. And for your range weapon, the legendary bow The Dead Shot. So in combination with the dagger you've shown and champion subclass, we are talking about 16-20 for crits. So it's insane. Just a last recommendation: if you are doing a exhibition of the build, don't attack a character with a helmet that makes her immune to crits haha, would've been lovely to see a few crits there. Good stuff.
Should rock Bhaal's Armor. Light armor that gives anything close to you vulnerability to piercing. I'd also Equip the bow that drops crit range by another one.
bhaal armor by becoming unholy assasin following tribunal quest in act 3, you talk to npc merchant and buy it off him if you kill him he just dissapears and you get nothing, you have to specifically pick evil option and kill the detective in that quest and later talk to the merchant next to saverok. @@burgertime6372
Dual wield is indeed underwhelming. What I dont like is how when you buff yourself with action surge and haste, you get all right hand attacks, not a single left hand attack. So you end up doing 6 right hand attacks and 2 left hand attacks... I know it has always been like this, but its not aesthetically pleasing to look at and it breaks the inmersion of role playing as a dual wielder character for me, at that point might as well just play sword and shield char or a two handed one. Same with monk, but at least monk has cool animations for their flurry attacks which use diferent limbs animation-wise, but you buff yourself with action surge and haste and again, its all right hand attacks 😐. They coulda added a second animation for regular attack with monk where they use the left hand and this woulda been solved while keeping exact same functionality. Rant over.
Fighter 11 (barb1) gets more attacks at the cost of sneak attack (same without haste but +1 per haste effect - haste, action surge, elixir of bloodfury, some Mind Flayer powers is all afaik). They can use Great Weapons too so as you say 2wf is poor but it is viable. There's a +1 dagger that gets more +1 each kill you make up to +3 extra which applies to all your attacks might be useful here. Haste potions only last 3 rounds, the spell lasts 10 if you manage to avoid breaking concentration.
I like where you went with this build! I've been thinking about 2 adamintine swords, either long for more base critical #'s or scimitar for higher critical numbers. Each effects IMHO armor worn, and attribute stats (also IMHO lol). Anyways, Half-Orc for triple critical score and adamintine weapons always crits.... Was as far as I got before digging on UA-cam for more idels and inspiration, lol.
P.s. Nothing against meta/Uber builds... I just sometimes like more Tolkien fantasy to Anime fantasy, i.e. one they guy can do a flurry, sure and strike well....the other the planet explodes from their hit(s) lol.
The adamantine stuff is actually not bad, even for the end game. Looks pretty cool too. I was thinking of just having a dude in all adamantine. Make some backstory in my head about it
In my opinion you dont need rogue here. Just go 11 lvl fighter and you have 3 attack in 1 action. So with potion of speed and action surge you have 10 attacks(3 attack * 3 action points + 1 off-hand attack from bonus action). Also you will get extra figthing style on lvl 10 fighter and have +1 AC from it. And you still can take 1 lvl barbarian if you want.
So I made a blade dancer build Spore druid for extra necrotic damage on the hits, thief 3 for 2 bonus actions (not always used for a simple off hand attack). I have a small army of undead stuff and I send them into battle with me to bog down the enemy, I took the zombie wand from act one and use that as a trap finding dummy and use it to set up battles in my favor. Currently I'm in act two and have only used myself, have put all my companions in camp because it didn't feel right to have anyone be with this semi evil druid, so I changed most of their classes to just support buffer types. You can walk around with resistance to everything bonuses to all saves and just be solo in a party not worried about how people will act to choices. It's neat c:
I would start with 3 lvls of rouge to get those 3 attacks per turn faster and then go 5 into fighter for extra attack and then get barbarian 1 to benefit from freshly bought garb
I did the champion/warlock dual wielded. You don’t get the extra bonus attack but you get the Mortal Reminder, devil sight/darkness combo and I got the dual weapon feat so I go strength. My AC is not as good as you but with advantage I get a 19% chance of crit for every attack. Right now I’m running the singing sword with the blood of Lathander in my offhand. I’m looking to get to level 5 warlock for 3 main attacks and also looking to get sentinel so that I can keep enemies in the darkness (don’t know if you noticed, but opportunity attacks get both hands attacks). It’s been working well.
So can somebody please answer me a question when you put a one handed weapon in your off hand why does the damage change from a higher number to a lower number ?
I'm making a Str version of this type of build on my Karlach. not sure if i'm doing 4thief/8fighter or 3/9... I might toss another class in if i find one i like.
This is almost the exact build I wanted to make to play as my table top soldier half orc combined with my buddies table top throwing dagger (now hand crossbow) dwarf. Looks like it's going to work out great.
Due to unarmed defense? It works in the base game, more or less. There's seriously advanced gamers who have better methods for building AC, but this is just caveman. Easy imo.
so, i'm very new to both baldur's gate and dnd, as a matter of fact baldur's gate 3 is my first time messing with this system i herd you get a feat every 4 levels in a single class, and feats are supposed to be really powerful abilities wih 3 levels in rogue and 1 in barbarian wouldn't you miss one very valuable feat? why this choice in that case?
Some classes get extra ASI( ability score increase) or feats, Fighter gets 2 extra, one at lv6 and one at lv 14, Rogue gets an extra one at lv 10. So by going 6 levels in fighter with this build you don't lose an ASI or feat
HOW DID I KNOW that this would be 4 attacks and not 8, and you're including the off-hand hits as attacks lol. By your logic, Scorching ray is actually 3 spells rather than just 1 spell... Multi-hit moves are still just 1 move , dual-wielding attacks are still just one attack.
That's not the same thing at all. Dual-wielding = 2 attacks per every attack, if you so choose. That means that 4 sets of 2 attacks = 8, because each and every hit has its own roll, for hit and for damage and every miniscule modifier therein. Also, you can choose to use different bonus actions instead of using off-hand attacks. So ... yeah
Multihit moves are separate moves. Hell, you can Even desactivate dual attacks with the "R" key so you decide wether to do an off hand attack or another bonus action and off hand has his own icon. And that is almost the whole point of the thief class lol, how did you not know this? By your logic, off hand attack shouldnt even exist, have no icon and only thing one would do is equip two weapons and with the attacks button it would attack automatically with the two hands, but is not the case. You new to DnD?
*Le sigh* lol. He literally shows 8 attacks (6 main hand with haste lot and action surge and 2 from off hand). Yes! With action surge blown in the first round (let's say), he'd be down to 6 attacks a round...till the potion wears off and then down to 4 attacks a round. Yes! Each attack can be done individually and to separate targets (if within range/movement).... or done in combo of 2 attacks of main hand/ off hand x2, plus 4 more main hand attacks.
Speed Pot = 3 rounds Insight is super important for face characters cause it helps get extra dialogue options Two attacks + Rogue works, but not how you said: Dual fighting style means the off hand attack does as much damage as the main hand, and off hand is extra action, so that's why you get 4 attacks
Its so bad. Not only does offhand deal next to no dmg compared to 2h, but it also takes up your bonus attack, even worse being forced to go thief if you want a second weak bonus attack. What was Larian thinking in making dual wield this bad?
For the duel wield bros (fighter/monk/barbarian) out there, summon two wood woad from CONJURE WOODLAND using circle of the land and take their Twisting Branch. That weapon is so good for duel wield.
