- On June 22, 2014 the Nashville Public Library’s music series "That Nashville Sound", hosted by Ralph Emery, featured Ray Stevens discussing his songs, history, memories, and "Nashville" book
I had no idea that Ray Stevens had done so many different things, or had all of these hits. I remember hearing these songs, over my life, just didn't know they were done by this guy.
You'll never have to worry about anyone taking your place as a song /writer.There can oy be one Ray Steven's, ever.
I was young .. don't remember the show as well.. but boy do I remember everything is beautiful on the radio .big big song
Awesome Down to earth Talent. Ray is the kind of guy that you would love to have as a Friend. I love everything Ray does. He`s Great.
Wonderful! One of the biggest regrets is not seeing him in concert when I had the chance. I’ve regretted it for almost 30 years.
One of the world's most underrated artists. He's right up there with the best of the best.
Randy. Jeff. This comment is for everyone of you. Randy. My children's grand fauther cut your hair at the barbershop in Fort Payne Al. My nephew played baseball with your son and my children's father was your baseball coach. Long story.short , my sincere prayers ate with all of you. There is a reason that I believe that this came on my phone. Your songs have lifted me up throughout my adult life and the least I can do is keep all of you in my prayers. Prayers for Jeff and his family throughout this detour in their life. Amen
The streak was so funny .very popular at that time... always on the radio
Thinking of Ray today. as we hear his wife passed! Real special man and I am sure she is also.
Ray can play the piano beautifully.
Brings a smile to my face to watch this again. RAY and RALPH go back as friends for many years, so it is a joy to watch this interview, specially now. That first video wasn't done in the 60s but I knew he meant the song, Arab the Arab, watching it I cracked out laughing watching that camel Clyde 🤣🤣 is just terrific, also the wording of I love you, is fantastic like the old silent movies, really genius.
I LOVE RAY ❤ for many years, so handsome still today and with that quick mind of his, so lovable, creative, serious, gracious and soooo funny.
I LOVE HIS INTERVIEWS ❤💋
Love Ray and all his songs. Great song writer and entertainer. God bless you.
He just made all of us kids laugh and have so much with all of his fun records.Guitarzan, the streak, Mississippi Squirrel Revival and more.
I have loved your sense of humor since along càme John. My whole family watched the variety shows. Thank you for that,
Love this!! Ray you are one of a kind! what a wonderful entertainer!
Even my mom & dad loved, "The Streak". My favorite of his is the Mississippi Squirrel Revival!
I grew up listening and watching Ray.. still love this guy!! 🇺🇸❤🙏❤🇺🇸
I was in 5th grade when I first heard of him & heard his comedic songs, it was in the early 60s. I couldn't get rid of my Rock 'n Roll fast enough!
Love this!
Rays work is smile- tastic...Nice to see him with his friends and family around him.
I grew up loving and listening and mimicking your songs love your contribution to music history
Everything is Beautiful still to this day a very Awesome song !
Remember when he had a summer variety show on NBC to replace Andy Williams when he took a summer off. Ray always sang that classic. MY sister wrote a letter to Ray and still has the signed autograph.
Good ol Ralph Emery, seems like they were good friends, a very comfortable interview. Ray is a wonderful guy and his music is so fun to listen to! Ray looks very good here!
My mother and loved his record. Running bear. We use to play it lots of time back in the late 1950.s. Still have the record, even my children grew up having to hear that record. Still love it along lots of his other songs. He is one year younger than me.
I Played all the Ray Steven cuts as comedy relief for those Sad ole country songs, I still love him.
RIP Ralph Emery. We'll miss you old friend.
I think it's a real shame that more people haven't viewed this video. This is a great piece of Americana. It's very interesting as well as most entertaining.
Great interview! Great performance!
He's always put a smile on my face and joy in my heart. Love him dearly ❤️💞❤️
Fantastic, such enjoyment to us old friend
Love this man. I have been listening sent 1962
I will always love him and his music!
Love the stories behind the songs and hearing about all the other industry people Ray has met.
great singer of some real songs to.
His talent is off the charts.
Unequaled entertainer, musician, poet and what else⁉️ His humor never fails incorporated with the brilliance of the music he uses to make it all work together too entertain his admirers‼️🤗 There will never be another Ray Stevens - ever. He is nonpareil.
Awesome! Love to see more like this!
When I was a young man I spent an entire week's pay on Ray Stevens' tapes! Money well spent.
I'm still a child! I listen all day on utube. It's great!
17 tapes
My radio hero. 1971
Very good 😊 you have any transportation at all the boys I've loved you and your family are making our way a great time with your family God bless
I still have his tape with the "Shriner's Convention" in my 2000 Ford F250. Nothing else in the yard has an audio cassette player in it!
One of the things that's always made me laugh at Ray's stuff is that he is actually a fine pianist and a very good singer. I don't remember which song it was but it's on that tape also. There's a beautiful piano part that he plays and the vocal is very smooth. It's a really nice song... right up to the very last phrase and then he slips in the "zinger." I came to the conclusion that you just can't ever forget, there's always a zinger at the end!! 😊😊
great fun watching this
Me too 70's he is still kickass
I love him!
Hey there Ray Love your Video you are totally awesome. I have the old video and a old 45 with Picture Sleeve :)
Check out utube.
Love Ray Stevens.
My favorite part around the 46:00 mark when Ralph Emery asks about why Ray's song out performed the others and Ray responds, "I think it was a far superior recording."
saw Ray in the early 70s at the Fairmont Hoyrl Dallas Texas
The Streak, Harry The Harry Ape. Blue Cyclone. They are all Great. I think They are all Great.
I love you Ray
A great artist. My favorite song he wrote and sang when I was in gradeschool wasnt discussed here, but I identified closely with was Funny Man. I had dyslexia and didnt do well in school so ,becoming a class clown was a way for me.
Thank you men for this video. 👍
Ray Love you man maybe I will get a chance to meet you in the Life to come .
Everything is beautiful in its own way. I remember King David dancing once and he streaked believe it or nor not. Lol
Great showman his song a long came James.
At long last!!! There's another video on-line from the same venue and it's played like an updated version of "Nashville Now" and Ray happens to be one of the guests.
Love Ray

Listening to your funny songs for 30 years, gotta hear some of our ideas.
WOW!
Shirley Adams invited me to the studio on Belmont to hear a recording session....Helen Cornelius was making a demo.
I can’t help it if I’m Still in Love With You. I could go on and on. I was raised on Hank.
Talent
The streak
I have that 45 Raunchy still today !
The story goes that Ray named his camel in "Ahab the Arab" after his good friend Clyde McPhatter the late lead singer of the
Original Drifters.
Like Ray Stevens
"Mississippi Squirrel Revival"
😊👍🐢
Happy
I really like Ray Stevrnscbutbthisciscthe dumbest interviewer ever. Replace him with someone who knows how to ask questions. What time did your piano teacher arrive is just stupid. Others in the same category.
I love Santa Claus is watching you
I love Ray Stevens foo
What's wrong with that version. I happen to like it.
