I saw this show the night after this recording. This is encore #3 the closing number, you can feel the excitement in the crowd, the effects are just amazing. It was even more impressive being there as you can feel the music that went right thru you and the heat from the flares, just mind-blowing.
Pink Floyd are the best band ever! I’ve seen many of the great bands of the 70’s but Pink Floyd’s concerts were on another level and the Pulse was epic. Even today no one can reach this level live. Great reaction. More Floyd please.
Greg Phillinganes ( M.J. music director) said when he saw this "they were on a different level". 200,00 watts of power, 200 ton stage, 4 sets of 32 wireless speakers (outdoors) people would look up to see the nonexistent helicopter flying around. 14 days in a row sold out at Earl's Court, 53 semis to move with 3 stages going on. and their LAST concert. saw 5 fives and people were speechless leaving the concert.
Greatest overall performance to this day and greatest guitar solo to this day… Saying that it’s kinda Sad that we’re in 2023🤔SMH. They don’t do music nowadays sad for the younger generations if they only knew….❤️✌🏼🇺🇸🇺🇦
The BEST EVER concert I witnessed in Vienna and Tampa,. The last explosion You felt it in your seats no matter how far You were from the stage, like the stadium is about to rattle to your core
I've been playing drums in New Zealand for about 50 years now and in 1996 I did a sound and lighting course since I had been involved with the local operatic society and apart from drumming have been doing sound and lights for about 20 years, anyway in 1996 I was able to work on the latest lighting board that Theatrelight, a New Zealand company, who designed and built the digital Stagemaster lighting board together with a digital 10 pack. This was a computer controlled theatre lighting console that was programmable and could be programmed up to 90 lighting cues and once programmed the engineer could change cues at a push of a button. This was cutting edge technology at the time so I would say that the gear they used for the Pulse concert would have been just as good if not better. They would only need one lighting board but seeing the amount of lights provided would have needed dozens of 10 packs (10 packs are full of thyristors that allow theatre lights to be dimmed). The other point is that standard theatre lights can range between 500 watts to 2.5Kw for standard theatre lights such as plano-convex, freznells, parcans, spotlights, zoomspots and followspots, of course Pulse is not your standard production and by the look of it are mainly parcans that could be pulling a collective megawatts worth of power, especially when the floods are on and when the white lights are shining into the audience, it also takes a lot of energy to activate laser lights but one thing is for sure; it's definitely not LED lighting. I got the pulse DVD when it first come out and there is no technical specs for any of the gear they use so I am speculating about what they used but whatever they used is impressive.
around the mid 70s we had a few friends from the States staying with us in London, a beautiful sunny Saturday morning, we eventually got ourselves together and made our way to Wembley stadium, Nils Lofgren... AC/DC...The Who...and as the sun was setting...The Floyd came on.............Peace.
Love the way you guys set up your concert at large screen size. ! Thank You .I think you can talk over parts of the concert without pausing and will not get blocked.
David knows how to tease them!! He keeps playing just a little more each time and then you can see him do the counting of 1 2....1 2 3 4 BOOM 💥 One thing that I love during this concert is if you look closely near the very end of the song you have Guy Pratt the bass player running in place and playing!!!! Kind of like a sprinter coming to the finish line! The only thing I know about the lighting is the Floyd guys got lighting engineer Marc Brickman to do the lighting and they basically handed him a blank check and said see what you can do!! Well I guess we all saw what he can do?!!! And yes it's spelled Marc. Maybe for Marcus?
In an interview the bass player Guy Pratt said when he first auditioned for Pink Floyd he was getting his bass out and David said dont bother with that we know you can play bass. His audition was doing the vocals on this song.
A T shirt and a pair of jeans , in his 70's . This song was from the wall 1979 . . Tell me who's better . The absolute godfather of guitar . ( the base was brilliant also , Guy ) .
You mentioned that you a keyboardist so I’m sure u know about a Mr . Keith Emerson…. So you might want to check him out on the Montreux Jazz Festival 1997 concert Medley part 2 you will b 💥💥💥away….❤️✌🏼
It was indeed computer-controlled lights. Actually the console was quite visible at the concert I attended in Belgium. You can't do all this manually, come on! ;)
