- If you are looking to play Star Wars: The Old Republic with a friend, there’s a lot you can do together while playing. In this video, we’ll be going over everything you need to know about playing with a friend, and everything you can do together in the game. The Old Republic is a great game to play with a second person, especially if you start together at level 1. You can work directly together on many quests in the game, and help each other out on the ones that aren’t directly meant for groups. You can also work together on the group content including the 4-person Flashpoints, 8-person operations at higher levels, player-vs-player content, and go exploring across the galaxy to find datacrons, lore objects and secret achievements.

Why am I watching this? I don't have friends.
I have a wife who can't do 3D but actually managed to finally get used to it in SWTOR earlier this year. But then she got bored by lvl 20 as there was too much running around & too many cut scenes for her taste apparently...so I"m back to playing D3 with her. A man's gotta do... :-/

Recent Sub. Was dreading watching this vid cause the feels. Started the game in beta years ago with a friend. He was A sentinal and I was a shadow and it was fun duoing with him. he was blessed with finding love and a good job as an instructor. I had a car accident which disabled me so I was considering coming back if just for the nastalgia. but it was fun participating in his class story, hunting holocrons and gearing up to duo FPs.
I searched exactly for this yesterday. I'm scared and impressed at the same time

I've been wanting to play SWTOR for a while now but I don't have a computer that can run it. I plan to get one eventually but can I just say you are not making the wait easier. You should try sith Inquisitor or imperial agent next. They're both great !
Me and my friends have done Black Talon and Essells so many times. One of us makes an alt, gets to the fleet, and puts out the FB message and most of the time one of us will drop in. We do other Flashpoints sometimes, but there's a weird tradition with those 2 that's been built.

As you seem to really understand the mechanics of the game, I was wondering if it was worth buying a good (like legendary level) light saber for a Jedi Sage. On the one hand they never really use them in combat, but on the other hand, that could still improve the general items rating and stats. Maybe should it come way down on my priority list ?
I just got lv 75 after years without playing, so I'm still a bit hesitant when it comes to buying equipment.

So for the STATS of the lightsaber they will increase the power of your force attacks even if you are not using the lightsaber itself (ex you don't headbutt people but your helmet stats make you stronger too).

always wanted to play with someone but the closest i came to it was when i found person from my country on some planet around lvl 28+ and we stayed grouped after doing heroics first. we split up soon after anyway as the next day or two he wasnt online in time and i overleveled him

This being an MMO, I honestly thought it'd be more friendly to Co-op playing. Outside of leveling up together, there really isn't a lot of comradery. =\

It’s a shame fallen empire is still a struggle to play with friends. My friend and I are comfortable with me just being a backseat assassin so he can experience it for the first time. We don’t want to play it co op, but it’s still just as difficult as someone willing to be the secondary character
Right it stinks!
The thing that drives me nuts about playing with another person is when they have non-instanced story quests. When this happens you just get to sit there and watch the little 3 dots chat box over their heads. This means that you end up with a lot of holes in the other persons story as well as a lot of just wasted time sitting there waiting for their conversation to get done. Would be nice if it gave group members an option in preferences to spectate. Unless of course there is one and I just don't know about it.

Coming back to SWTOR after a year-long break. And coming back with a friend!! However, what I did not grasp 100% from your video, or maybe I missed it, my bad, is how Rise of the Hutt Cartel and Shadow of Revan act. Do they act like the Class Story quests and only 1 character will be seen in the cutscene, or will it be like the Planetary Story where both appear and can choose certain dialogue options?

Do you have any guides for optimizing UI for things like casual leveling or more dedicated DPS/Tanking/Healing? If not could you make one?
Honestly I use the default "Advanced" UI preset most of the time LOL. Then turn a few things off like the alignment toggle, and turn a few things on like the Target-of-target.
If I am a different class than the person I am playing with and I am a much higher level than them, am I able to do their story quests with them?

First time levelling a vanguard, I need someone to help me with when I get the storm and what ability I get at level 57 or 58 (yes swtorista inspired me to make a female vanguard)
I am having trouble finding info on something. I just want to send my friend a mount I have bought with credits. When I try to mail it, I get a message that says my friend must be part of my legacy to send them that mount item. How do I simply send my friend a mount through the mail???
Recently made a Heroic run (skipped all the story and secondary quest and only developed with Heroic missions to level 75), bought HK for companion, but he is a pathetic healer and as a JK (dps sentinel) ate dust a lot of time. The cost of the recovery is more than a million creds. My experience: almost noone reacts to a LFG Heroic call, but the chat is full with gold spammers and it is annoying + Hk is a pathetic healer. Long ago when I played this game more activly players can fine tunning theirs droid to. Now only a weapon option is avaiable. Bytheway what stats good for a healer when modding its equipment?
Dulfy was on my Friends List. As that changed, My feeling for this game changed. TY for your guides and thoughts- I will stick with that- vs. supporting EA, one of the worst companies ever. You tho, have made a loyal fan in me. Harbinger was the best server and will always have been.
My question is how do you "quest" and not be overpowered for the planets? By the time I get to my second planet I'm already at least level 15!

Have any of the difficulties of playing with friends been mitigated in updates after this video? With the introduction of combat styles and whatnot, or is it all the same? kotfe / kotet sounds like a hassle.
Hello! Hmm. Not much has changed.
Loadouts/multiple combat styles does make it easier to get into and form groups though if you or your friend are willing to swap roles. I swap roles a lot more frequently now to help form a group with the right roles.

I might have missed it but i have a question. In most games the companion goes away when playin with a friend. If im playing my story with a friend does that happen in this game? Also 2nd question if that does happen do i still get the companion interactions? Like i know you can get close to some aswell as relationships in this game. Do those interactions happen even when im playing with a friend?
If you have only 1 friend, you each a companion (total party of four) - if you are playing w three other friends, your companions get dismissed (total party of four). So good to go! The major missions won't let you complete them without your companion, and most romance conversation happens in your ship / not questing in the open world anyway. So should be good to go! But if you play with 4 you will miss seeing little dialogue with your comp.

Hey I have a question, if I were to subscribe to SWTOR and there by unlock the new dlcs (Knights of the Fallen Empire and so on) and then cancel/dont renew the subscription, do I keep the dlcs for ever?
yes! you can cancel after unlocking them. You lose some convenience perks but not the expansions.

They can follow you around yeah. They won't be in your cutscenes.
So my friend and I cannot both play Jedi Knight story levels together if we both start at level 1?
Not directly together - you can play side by side paralell in the knight stories, or go in and do eachothers twice.

I'm not new but I can teach you some things I've learned over my characters. I've completed 6/8 class stories(halfway through the 7th) so I know pretty much everything about leveling through the story and after
I only play solo but once in awhile someone will ask to group at the start of a heroic. How do I get out of the group once we’ve finished it? Also I’ve always wondered if there is a group chat or something.
Ah! Right click your portrait and there's an option in there to leave. The video shows how to group chat early on, type /group in chat to enter group chat.
