      Thanks Sheri. I think some people hurting and just lash out on whoever they can and that falls under critiquing in a poor way. It’s ok, since this video I’ve gotten a lot tougher to things said and not let them effect me, life’s to short.

    Self taught. For 40 years have thought one can learn skill and technique (any art: drama, music, dance, written word); it’s the intuition and willingness to - after years of practice - ditch technique. Experiment breeds the artist. Salut.

      And if you were with me in a class and were scared i would make you literally throw paint onto the paper to get you started, sometime we have to be pushed into the swimming pool. In this case its a pool of watercolor.

    I never thought I would live long enough to see an abstract painter who was wholly intentional. Thanks!

    • @debralynrosenbachart
      @debralynrosenbachart  2 роки тому +1

      What do you mean? can you expound on that. I’m curious.

    • @NMranchhand
      @NMranchhand 2 роки тому +3

      @@debralynrosenbachart Certainly. A lot of people use “abstract” to cover a random, thoughtless approach that is wholly reliant on the happy accident.
      You, on the other hand, showed clear planning and composition from the start with your intentional preservation of white space. You built depth through an excellent understanding of atmospheric perspective. You receded with blues, light values, and soft focus, and then came forward in layers of warmer colors, darker values, and well defined lines with the rigger (I view the rigger work as my reward for having done the heavy lifting).
      As a result of your intentionality, your beautiful painting has organization and three-dimensionality, while retaining the vibrant spontaneity of an actual abstraction of a real subject.
      That’s no inkblot test.

To hear you say the same thoughts out loud just tickled me to no end. I am a realistic watercolor artist that dreams of being able to “see” what you do and it is such a pleasure to watch you work. I am really inspirers of this tutorial. You pegged it for me! Following where the paint leads you, and building up layers. It is such a pleasure to hear you talk through your videos so please continue. I can relate to feeling that I should have stopped when achieving a pattern I like then messing it up with too much of the same. But seeing you gracefully make a few adjustments to produce a grand end result is something that is worth a lot. This knowledge is valuable and I thank you for sharing your work. Ohh gosh you're a woman of my own heart with your "loose" painting style and tutorial... really had to have a little giggle at "I don't now how to stop". I'm so glad there are others out there who love it and do it like I do...I will absolutely keep on watching your tutorials. It's such a pleasure to watch you work and I can learn so much from you...I have always painted and, yes, I did paint in aquarel but not since I went to art college and that was more years ago then I want to think about. And since then I only painted in either oil or acrylic. Only very recently I went back to watercolour and discovered that it is a really fun media to work with. Thank you for sharing your ideas...

    Your video popped up on my suggested list since I recently watched a couple of beginner videos. I'm mainly a paper crafter. I enjoyed watching your painting come to life and how you explained what you were doing. One thing you mentioned is so true for any crafting and that is to try not to watch too many videos. Often crafters are trying to duplicate other's techiques and style, they lose touch with their own creativity.

    I am new to watercolor (exciting and nerve wracking). I bought a pad of 9x12 to begin with but didn’t love taping down as it was limiting to me so I made my pad into a block by putting a board on top with weights and then with brush, I painted on Elmer’s glue along all edges except for a half inch where I can start the separation of pages. It works for me as I experiment!!
    I love your loose style! This is what I need to learn as I seem to always focus on being way to finely detailed. Wish me luck in this learning journey!

    • @debralynrosenbachart
      @debralynrosenbachart  Рік тому +1

      Don’t be a nervous wreck, just pick on subject and paint it over and over again. When i first started I painted a ton of humming birds, then i painted different birds. My suggestion to you is not to jump around to much, keep things simple and find one subject and practice that and learn how to create your paint consistencies, learn about values and if your want to learn to be loose then learning how to control he water is key. It just takes a lot of practice, and if your willing to put the time in your art will grow and improve, good luck!

    Really enjoyed this! Especially your thought process - it reminds me of the way my mind works. I want to move towards this free flowing wet in wet approach with vibrant colors... I will be watching more! Thank you.

    I love this painting and I love the process you shared with us. It's nice to see videos that are so real like this. Even though you mentioned the colors became muddy and lifted the colors up a bit, I really do like the way it looked, leaving a bit of a blurred background. In my opinion, this truly is a masterpiece of art. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to watching your other videos.

    Really enjoyed this video. But I have to say I thinkin the beginning it’s good to watch tutorials. I learned so much and through them, discovered what I love to paint!

      Its been awhile since I filed this, I dont recall exactly with at I might have mentioned but I still believe that watching tutorials are good, but at some point its good to then take everything you’ve watched and then put it into action and create with no guidance. I get that some need to copy, but it can become a crutch for some.

      @Debra Lyn Rosenbach Watercolor & Mixed Media I totally agree. I no longer rely on tutorials but in the beginning I did, more or less to get y bearings. But I also didn't realize I had this talent! So I started so to speak from scratch! So now, I'm able to kind of do my own thing. I love how your abstract came out by the way! I look forward to seeing more.

    This was a lovely experience! So loose and wispyish but a lot of knowledge about color. I will have to watch this again. Thank you.

    Another gorgeous painting Debra Lyn…and I am now saving up to buy those Mission Gold paints because I love the vibrant colors…so beautiful! As for you “talking to much”…absolutely not. It is great to hear your thought process and I love the fact that the flowers are “made up”…no stress on copying something exact. I love the abstract approach you have and the subject…flowers are also a favorite with me. Thank-you once again…stay safe and God bless!

      Thanks Katerina! You’ll love them! I think all of us have to agree, when we hear ourselves on video, or tape we say “eww is that how I sound?” Then I panic and think, oh geez I’m I rambling on? I’m sure someone can’t stand me on here, 😂…oh well! That’s why mute is a fantastic option.
      Thanks so much for tuning in!! Make sure to check me out on my new FB group. Merry Christmas🎄
