I was so confused growing in a Baptist church as a young child on these verses. It wasnt untill about 6 years ago, my eyes were opened to the partial-preterist position in the form of David Chilton's book, Paradise Restored (it can be found free online). Now I love this chapter as it shows without a doubt, the supernatural origin of the Bible and of Christ in his prophecy! He said that generation at about 30 or 33AD , so add 40 years (a biblical generation) is about 70AD. That's why 1 John and other books always said "the time is near", because they knew in the 60s, it was almost time.

This 40 year period (a generation), between the crucifixion/assention, and the destruction of the Temple/Jerusalem is practically alluded to in Hebrews chs. 3 and 4, Christ being the replacement for Moses, and history repeating, with only the "remnant" (explained in the Book of Romans) of Jews who had become believers having "entered that rest." From Pentecost to 70 AD, the church went from Jewish believers only, then Samaritan believers, next Gentiles, but at first, "Jew first, then the Greek," then finally "neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female," right up until 70 AD.

I absolutely agree and really enjoyed listening to you go through scripture and paint a picture of exactly what was happening back in 70AD and what Matthew 24 etc are really talking about! I grew up knowing nothing of this and never being taught anything like it but through studying and listening to others like yourself as I've gotten older I've come to learn what I believe to be the truth (partial preterism) and it has really opened my eyes and helped me to understand God's word so much better and on such a deeper level. Its not hard to understand that the bible is written during the time and from the perspectives of the men who were alive in their time. For whatever reason, God knows, there was meant to be 2000 years in which the gospel would go out into the world, until the times of the gentiles are fulfilled. We know Christ is going to return, John was given an entire books worth of prophecy concerning this revealing of the Lord. The entropy that happened to Israel, the dogmatism, the complacency, all of it, has likewise happened to the church, and the church must be cleansed, judgement begins in the house of God, according to scripture. Christ will bring the church through the fire, and every Christian will get a chance to demonstrate where their faith resides. Those who would lose their life for Christs sake will find life eternal. Even a cursory glance at the events in the world show the exact unfolding of the events we were warned would take place. There wont be any question when it happens either, prophecy is understood by its fulfillment. All the speculation about how everything will unfold on earth is just that, speculation, but as that day approaches, there wont be any confusion or question about the identities of the figures mentioned in Revelation.

Unless you believe in ancient aliens, only the kingdom rulers could (and would) have built castles with no bathrooms, star forts (like the one in the Florida keys with 16 million bricks), cathedrals, etc. you’ve been deceived because you live in revelation 20, the age of deception.

All of the biblical evidence points to a Full Preterist view. I have watched my fellow brothers in Christ wrestle with the principle of Audience Relevance. It brings back memories of my days before accepting the exclusive and multiple imminent time statements. Jesus, every inspired writer, and the original audiences all expected the coming of Christ at the end of the age to occur in their generation. We are required to take the overall context into consideration when determining our understanding of biblical eschatology.
One of my favorite passages that demonstrates the first century coming of Christ at the end of the age is James 1:1; 1:18 & 5:1-9:
      James 1:1
“James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad: Greetings.”
      James 1:18
“Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures.”
      James 5:1-9
“Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. 4 Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. 5 You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you. 7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. 8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 9 Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!”
Jesus and every inspired apostle taught a first century second coming. The evidence establishes the trustworthiness of each one of them. At Christ’s first century coming the New Covenant heaven and earth kingdom was established forever at the passing of the old.
Everything between Rev. 1:1-3 & Rev. 22:6,10 was fulfilled as John prophesied. He informed his first century audiences of “things which must soon take place…for the time is near.” He made this clear with the following words:
      Revelation 1:19 (YLT)
“Write the things that thou hast seen, and the things that are, and the things that are about to come after these things”
Our eschatology is entirely dependent on the true context given by the Father through His inspired apostles. Let God be true and every man be a liar.

@@BiblicalStudiesandReviews When the True Messiah Reigns, the Glory of YHVH is going to be literally appearing and covering the earth. Mt. of Olives will split in two, and the Messianic Age will ensue. The Glory of YaH as the Whirlwind of Fire, the Cloud of Glory, and the Shekinah Glory is going to be the Light on earth, instead of the sun. The True Messiah is going to be a Glory flyer ascending upon the Whirliwind of Fire, and the Cloud of Glory into the Throne Room of Heaven, but on earth. Mathew 24:30, all tribes and nations didn't mourn and see Him ascending into heaven, nor coming down in a cloud.
You can go directly to Abba YaH without any mediator. You can have perfect inner peace in your belly (heart labe in Hebrew or bowels) that gets rid of all inner jitters and butterflies in your belly, inner joy, inner loving-kindness, heaven on earth without needing anyone named Yeshua - Jesus - Iesou. Just copy heaven on earth by His Spirit until the Glory of His Presence literally appears. Not sinning, continually praying, continually praising YaH, dancing, celebrating, magnifying, glorfiying, and bowing down to Him until you literally see the Whirlwind of Fire, the Cloud of Glory, and even the Radient Energy Light Glory. Then continue copying heaven on earth to keep it. It does help to do 16-hour to 72-hour holy gatherings to copy heaven on earth with others ascending into His Throne Room super close to Him. Sabbaths are 16-hour to 72-hour holy gatherings, so everyone copies heaven on earth, getting rid of all worldly distractions to ascend upon wings like the eagles in higher dimensions; like the 4th dimension (the space time continuum) by eating from the Tree of Life. Heaven on earth is the Garden of Eden. Just try singing Hallelu YaH for six-hours by yourself, clapping, whistling, ringing tambourine, dancing, and getting close to Him without going through anyone named Jesus and see for yourself. It's fine to take an hour break after 3 hours of praise too, Selah in Hebrew means Break or Pause and also part of copying heaven on earth. Don't be surprised if the Cloud of Glory (Fog) appears in your home, It's Fire of Love.
It's what Shem and Yaphet, sons of Noach did, copying heaven on earth. Shem was Melech Tsedek, King of Salem, who taught Abraham, Issac, and Jacob how to get back into the Garden of Eden to eat of the Tree of Life (Eternal Life). Shem lived 600 years old, and so he lived even during the time of Jacob. The Greek BIble says Abram tithed to Melech Tsedek, but it was Melech Tsedek who blessed Abram and brought forth bread and wine (tithes is food, clothing, and shelter; not money). The Hebrew Bible has Melech Tsedek giving the tithes. Abram(ham) was a sojourner, so he was worthy to receive tithes in his time of need after the battle. I'm sure he gave tithes to all the mighty men of valor as well, they would have been hungry, tired, and worn out, so the King of Salem would have most indubitably helped them out as well; even though it's not written.

  • @VFXShawn
    @VFXShawn 11 місяців тому +3

About Matthew 24, the Greek word used for "pass" in these verses is "παρέλθῃ" (parelthē), which can also be translated as "enter into" or "pass into." This broader range of meanings allows for an interpretation that the generation would not enter into or experience the fullness of the fulfillment until all the described events are accomplished. Similar to how Israel could not pass the wilderness trial and had to wander for 40 years and fail to enter God's promises, the first century Israel failed to enter into God's promises for them by rejecting Christ and his apostles and thus were sent to wander for 2000+ years until a future generation is able to pass God's requirements through faith in the Messiah. This understanding explains why the first century Israel did not pass, but failed to pass, and thus awaits future fulfillment.
However, given that the generation of Israel was poised in the first century to have the potential to receive Jesus Christ and usher in the kingdom on Earth had they received Him (Acts 3:20), the events described in Matthew 24 may have begun to take place, but not everything did. Certainly God's elect were not gathered from the four winds (Matthew 24:31) and Christ did not appear with great glory to cause all the nations on earth to mourn (Matthew 24:30), which corresponds to Revelation 1:7 “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all peoples on earth will mourn because of him." Those that pierced him, as per Zechariah 12:10, are the nation of Israel collectively, and this is clearly speaking about the 2nd coming of Christ, which no Christian should try to argue is a historical event, as we are still waiting the coming of the Lord and our gathering together unto him.
    2 Thessalonians 2:1
"Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him (our blessed hope), we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us-whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter-asserting that the Day of the Lord (book of Revelation, nightmare on earth) is at hand." If those who preach 70 AD are correct, then the Day of the Lord (destruction of Jerusalem?) was absolutely at hand when Paul was writing. However, the Day of the Lord, which is what Joel speaks of in Joel 2, is what Peter quotes in Acts 2 explaining to the Jews what is happening. However if you read Joel 2 carefully it says starting in verse 27
"Then you will know that I am in Israel,
that I am the Lord your God,
    and that there is no other;
never again will my people be shamed.
    “And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams"
So the fulfillment of Joel 2 happens after Israel is reconciled fully to God and are never again put to shame. The nation of Israel was put to horrific shame in 70 AD and God is not presently dwelling with Israel in their midst, as Israel has forsaken God and rejected His Messiah and spent 2000 years in scattered exile and judgment. Joel 2 was about to come to pass in the first century, the beginnings of it were evidenced by the pouring out of God's Spirit, but the fulfillment of it did not take place in full in the first century, but was postponed to a future generation. Peter, acknowledging that people will scoff at this idea says:
    2 Peter 3:4
They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”
    Peter goes on to explain that if you want to understand the longsuffering of God and why these events did not take place;
    2 Peter 3:15
Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.
Paul's letters explain why God did not bring upon the nation of Israel in the first century the completion of their prophesied end times, because Israel fell (Romans 11:11). God will not bring about the fulfillment of the promises made to that nation until they are good and ready to receive all that God has for them, and that begins by them acknowledging Jesus Christ as their Messiah. So the obstinance and refusal of Israel has benefited the world for 2000 years, putting a pause on Israel's prophetic program until "the fullness of the Gentiles be come in" (Romans 11:25). Then God will return to dealing with the covenant nation and save Israel "as it is written" in the scriptures of the prophets and as Jesus himself said would happen.

@@jamesreed5678 This generation will not enter into (the kingdom) until these things be fulfilled. These things were not fulfilled, therefore, that generation did not enter into the kingdom, similar to how the original generation that came out of egypt were forbidden to enter into the land, and a new generation had to take their place. Their ability to enter into the kingdom was conditional upon them receiving their Messiah, which they did not, but a future generation will.
Preterists can not deal with this verse: Peter preaching to israel in Acts 3:19 says "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the One having been appointed to you, Christ Jesus, Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." When Israel finally repents, that is when Jesus Christ will be sent to Israel to fulfill the promises of the prophets to that nation. Israel did not repent in 70 AD, and they did not have the kingdom restored to them, and therefore, this awaits a future fulfillment.

Well spoken. A few other things to possibly include in study: the parable of the fig tree - OT allegory for Israel... was being prophesied/warned of it's destruction, (cursed it for no fruit) but when it sprouts again, I've looked at this as when Israel became a nation again (pretty miraculous). Matt 16:28 Could this be speaking of John, who didn't die until he saw 'Revelation'? The word 39:16 G1074, sometimes interpreted as 'generation' can also, when talking about a collective people group at the time of that conversation, be 'race' or 'this people' - something to consider. Looking at it as it this way, then Jesus is guaranteeing that the He's will persist as a people group until His second coming. Echoing the promise in Jeremiah 31. Lol, not a100%, obviously, but something to consider.

POSITIVE PROOF OF A FIRST CENTURY RETURN OF CHRIST
1Thess 5:27 “I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the brethren.”
Paul was adamant that those people in that congregation hear his words so there would be no misunderstanding what their Apostle from the Lord was telling them! Paul considered this letter that important.
1Thess 4:15-18 “For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.” It was Paul's perspective that some of those persons, the “we,” hearing the words in his letter would be alive when the event was to occur. The commonly-held rule in interpreting English texts is to equate the pronouns to the original recipients of that text, unless the text says otherwise.
16 “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.” The context is clear; it was the coming of the Lord at the last trump! The last and final coming!
17 “Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” Paul knew, by Holy Spirit inspiration, that this very event was the one where those remaining alive people, the same “we,” would be gathered to Him.
18 “Therefore comfort one another with these words.” These comforting words could be comforting indeed, ONLY, if the described event occurred while some of THEM were still alive. Otherwise it would be meaningless to them.
1Thess 5:1-5 “But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.” Oh! Those persons in that congregation already knew what Paul was writing to them about, the 2nd and last final coming of the Lord.
2 “For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.” They knew it was coming upon that generation suddenly.
3 “For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” It would be a time of destruction that many would not be able to escape.
4 “But YOU, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.” HUH? It could overtake them?
5 “You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.” They already knew these things because Paul had taught it to them. THAT DAY of destruction and wrath, the coming of the Lord, and the gathering to Him of His Saints, being able to overtake THEM in the 1st century, was a total impossibility if it was in any other time but theirs! The possibility of that Day overtaking them did exist, if they, like many others, had been in the dark! And ONLY if it was to come while some of them were still alive! There is no way that the Apostle Paul would have said this to them unless that possibility existed. And that possibility only existed in their lifetime.
There is your biblical proof-positive of THE first century return of Christ!

Those who believe in Christ are Israel regardless of genetic lineage. The Jews who were part of the Synagogue of Satan were punished in the first century AD due to their unrepentance and being guilty of the murder of Christ the Messiah. Those who today are referred to as Jews have no stake in the promise of God unless they repent and accept Christ, same as any other person. We are not waiting on a temple. The temple is the believer and God dwells in him. Sacrifice is no longer required because Christ was THE sacrifice. Denial that Christ is enough to cover sins, and refusing to be a temple for the Lord, is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit which is the unforgiven sin.

Believing Him for sure.... take a look. You are deceived. PRETERISM DESTROYED
"ALL these things" are not fulfilled and therefore Jesus has not returned as the cult of preterism falsely teaches. Take a look:
"Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away (be renovated), but my words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Matthew 24:34-36
So if all these things are NOT yet fulfilled, and they aren't, how could this be speaking of that generation and not a future generation? Impossible. "This generation" could not have possibly been the generation, the people Jesus was speaking to when He spoke these words. We know that because most of these things were not fulfilled.
Did "the abomination of desolation" prophesied by Daniel happen in 70 A.D.? Nope.
"When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)" Matthew 24:15
Did Jesus return on the clouds and take up His elect? Nope. Matthew 24:29-31 Were Christ's elect gathered today in 70A.D.? No.
"Immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." Matthew 24:29-31
"ALL these things" Jesus is specifically speaking of in this passage/teaching are not fulfilled and thereby we know the preterists a cancerous cult that are misleading many (1 Timothy 1:19-20; 2 Timothy 2:18). They are the Hymaneus' of our day.
If your "Jesus" has already come, He's "another Jesus" and not "the Almighty" who said "he cometh with clouds; and EVERY EYE shall see him." Has NOT transpired. He said that He's coming "in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory ... with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." This is NOT happened.
The fact that these things were not fulfilled in 70A.D. clearly reveals that preterism is heretical - because "ALL these things" did not come to pass in 70A.D. Future fulfillment.

The "destruction of the old covenant world," did not take place in 70 AD, though!
That took place in 30 AD with the crucifixion of Christ (He inaugurated the New Covenant...in His Blood, thus the old was overthrown).
The destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem came as a result (@ 40 years after the crucifixion) of what happened during the 490 years of Dan. 9:24-27; specifically, Jesus and the Apostles fulfilling the last 7 years of the prophecy...

@@BiblicalStudiesandReviews I think you are on the right path, but as far as I can see you miss something very significant. Whenever Jesus spoke about "this generation" he never referred to it as a lifespan. He spoke about the _type_ of generation it was - an evil and disbelieving generation, a wicked and adulterous generation, a generation that is like children calling out to each other and being hypocritical. You pick this up and understand that it is referring to the scribes and Pharissses. That's good, because that is exactly what Jesus is referring to. But what you miss is that in Matthew 23 Jesus shows us how "this generation" is a lineage, or genealogy, rather than a period of time.
Notice what he says in the seventh and final "woe":
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. And you say, ‘If we had lived *in the days of our ancestors,* we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ So you testify against yourselves that you are *the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.* Go ahead, then, and complete what your ancestors started!" (Matthew 23:29-32)
Here, we see that the context of what Jesus is talking about is the _ancestry_ of the scribes and Pharasees - one that started with their descendents AND, with them included, has a continuation! The fact that this generation will continue is important. Now read carefully the next passage:
"You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, *whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.* Truly I tell you, all this will come on *this generation.*
The "generation" he is referring to are those who are the decendents of those who killed the prophets. These are not all the Jews, but a specific lineage. And notice also what he says to "this generation". He accuses THEM of killing Zechariah. How could "this generation" be a lifespan? None of the people he was speaking to were even born during the days of Zechariah!
What Jesus is actually saying in Matthew 24:34 is not that he would return within a generation, but that "all these things" are going occur _BEFORE_ this generation passes away. That not only agrees with what we see today, it lines up with what we read in the book of Revelation which tell us that the very last thing to occur on the eschatological timeline is the second death - the total destruction of the wicked.

First, we have a prediction that Joel made about the Holy Spirit:
"And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
"And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord ... I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there..." (Joel 2:28-32-Joel 3:1-2).
God inspired the apostle Peter to quote from this passage to describe events on the Day of Pentecost, when God founded the Church after Jesus' resurrection (Acts 2:14-21). Miraculous manifestations of God's power through the Holy Spirit did indeed occur then (Acts 2:1-13). But these were only the first fulfillment of Joel's prophecy. The ultimate fulfillment will come at the time of the end and will involve, among other things, the gathering of the nations to God's judgment in the Valley of Jehoshaphat. This did not occur on the Day of Pentecost.
      Then we have this:
"He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
      because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
      to set the oppressed free,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. He began by saying to them, *“Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”* (Luke 4:16-21)
Now if you look at the passage Jesus was quoting from Isaiah we see that he actually stopped smack in the middle of a verse. The whole verse goes like this:
"to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
*and the day of vengeance of our God,*
to comfort all who mourn" (Isaiah 61:2)
Here we see that the day of vengeance was not fulfilled "today", as Jesus said, but is reserved for a later time (otherswise we would have consider Isaiah a false prophet).
We also have the fact that before Jesus arrived on the scene, many Jewish "preterists" of their time believed that the abomination of desolation was fulfilled in the 2nd century BC. Antiochus had set up an altar to Zeus over the altar of burnt offering and sacrificed a pig on it. To them this prophecy was done and dusted and therefore could be ticked off the list. However, Jesus seemed to be convinced that this kind of thing would occur again some time in the future.
As you can see this is a bit long, so I'll stop here for now so that you can take this all in before I continue. Let me know when you are ready, or if you have any thoughts about this so far. I think you'll find what I have to say very interesting, because it explains why there is so much confusion about this issue.

These things seem to be deliberately taught incorrectly by the modern pastorship. I look to Jude a lot more lately. What we are mostly being taught about the Bible isn’t lining up with what the Bible actually says.
As for the verse about “this generation shall not pass”, I tend to think it shows that the Jews of bloodline Israel will not fully embrace the Messiah before the final day. Sorry to disagree with you Schofield lovers.
But yeah, the point must be made, is it the final Jew to come to GOD that signals the coming of the Son of Man? No. It’s the final Gentile who comes to GOD, that’s what the Bible says.

Jesus said that his coming was in the lifetimes of some of those apostles. MT 16:27 "For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of the Father with his Angels, and he shall repay every man for what he has done." So he was coming in vengeance on 1st century Israel. MT23: 38 "Your habitation shall be left to you as a wilderness." Total destruction of Jerusalem and the temple with all the people. And the timing of the event? MT 23:36 "Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon THIS GENERATIO." A 40 year span of time as per Hebrew reckoning. (40 years in the desert until that generation died out.) And finally MT 16:28 "There be some standing here who shall not taste of death till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." The coming of Jesus occurred in the lifetimes of some of those apostles, or in other words, in THAT generation. Let God's word be truth! Because it is true!!

Shalom Brother ! You are right, prophecies have dual fulfillment, in Matthew 24, Jesus talk about end times and of His second coming (Matthew 24.3), not about 70 AD, the scriptures are clear. 70 AD was only a foreshadow of what is coming soon : that Jerusalem = Mysterious Babylon, and the third temple will be destroyed at Tisha Beav as the first and second temple, by the islamic antichrist (Revelation 17.16), which Nabuchodonosor was a foreshadow (Daniel 2 & 3).
Daniel 2 & 7, don't talk about Rome, but about Babylon empire, the kingdom who was and is not (Revelation 17.8-11), which fit perfectly with scriptures : Revived Empire = Babylon, Islamic antichrist = king of Babylon (Isaiah 14), and Mysterious Babylon = Jerusalem.
As Acts 2.16 to 21 was a foreshadow of the true fulfillment of Joel 2.31-32, which would happen at the end times, at the six seal = Shavuot (Revelation 6.12), before Jesus come back from heaven at Yom Kippur.

I'd suggest reading Zechariah 14 as the language seems very similar to Jesus Olivet discourse. It's interesting to note the prophets saw a coming Day when Jerusalem would be surrounded by nations and then subsequently those same nations overthrown by the LORD whose name will not be profaned by the nations anymore, and will set Himself up as King of all the nation. If Zecheriah 14 is what Jesus had in mind and saw Himself as the LORD who jusges and makes war as we see in Revelation. He has yet to stand on the Mount of Olives and split it in two.
And Jerusalem has yet to be surrounded by nations with LORD winning the war, the King installed in Jersualem with those that survive coming up to Jerusalem for the Feast of Booths. There's more to what Jesus speaks about in Matthew 24 than I believe we recognize, myself included.

    • @makarov138
      @makarov138 Рік тому +1

@@DM-xy9gd I'd suggest reading MT 23 first. Because it is there that we have confirmed what, why, and when that is the context of MT 24. In MT 23, Jesus is in the temple with his disciples foretelling to the Scribes and Pharisees the things which were about to befall them. He told them what was going to happen to them. He told them why it was upon them. The Saints and Prophets, from the beginning up to their present day, that they were responsible for their murders. God's vengeance was on them! He told them when; in this generation that he was staring into their eyes. And he even told them the final result. “Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.” The Greek there means a wasteland or wilderness. And the written annuls of history records that all of that actually happened in 70AD when the Romans came in and whipped it all out. THAT generation experienced that “tribulation.” When Jesus said “in this generation” he means HIS!!!!!!
Jesus and the disciples came out of the temple, and they showed him the buildings. And in our vernacular he said “Don't you get what I've been telling them?” Not a single stone would be left on another of that temple. That occurred in 70AD. Proven historical account! Exactly like, when, and in the manner Jesus prophesied! Then Jesus told the things that would happen to some of them up to when “Jerusalem surrounded by armies,” or the “Abomination of Desolation” would arrive. That too has already occurred. And then it gets really serious. In MT 24:29 Jesus calls those days the “tribulation.” Was he wrong? Lets get to the crux of this. In verse 34, Jesus says that “This generation, (THAT one, HIS generation) shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.” “Heaven and earth shall pass away.” That old covenant system, the Mosaic age was about to be destroyed forever. And the coming of the Lord in vengeance upon THAT generation was the culmination of it. It all has already happened in the time and manner that Jesus foretold. Precisely like he said!

    • @DM-xy9gd
      @DM-xy9gd Рік тому +1

If you truly believe the abomination of desolation has occured then do you believe the Day of the Lord has come? If so, what do you make of the prophets Zechariah, Joel, Zephaniah etc. along with Revelation? They speak of a Day when judgment befalls on the nations with the King being set up in Jerusalem, a language being turned into a pure language for all the nations as well. Also, how do you make sense of the gathering of the elect spoken of in reference to the Day of the LORD by Jesus, Paul and the Revelator, John?
If the abomination of desolation has come in fullness not in some partial sense then has this been fulfilled?

One of the great realities of the Word is that it’s timeless. To say Matt 24 was for the Jewish Christian’s in AD 67 is very true and to say it’s for the end of times is also true. There is a tale that Christians escaped the Roman holocaust because of Matthew 24. God’s word is amazing in that is was and will be true. Jesus referred to the word being ever present by saying “Is written” not “Was Written”. One of those things hard to understand. it seems so contradictory to say “In the beginning was”(John 1) but Matthew 24 can and can never be dismissed as done in AD70.

Because very few people are interested in the allusion Jesus was making here. I am a bible scholar, I speak 5 languages, I can assure you the use of Genea here is not used in a plural context, therefore it really should be translated as descent Jesus was alluding to Jeremiah 31. So Jeremiah say the only condition for Israel ceasing to exist would be when star and the natural order of things are moved out of place. Jesus says the end comes exactly with his appearance which would do exactly that, make the hevenly bodies fail. Since Jesus spelled doom for israel in previous verses, he therefore felt compelled to ECHO the promise made by God thru Jeremiah reminding the apostles that even thought israel will be surrounded and suffer when temple is destroyed the nation will not cease to exist until all his words are fullfiled culminating with the stars failing to give light, reminding them the promise from the verse he alludes to in Jeremiah is still being upheld. Pay attention to the keyphrases in Jeremiah, Stars, moon, Sun, SEAS ROARING.
This is what the Lord says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar- the Lord Almighty is his name: “Only if these decrees vanish from my sight,” declares the Lord, “will Israel ever cease being a nation before me.”

This☝️up there helps you understand this down here👇
“There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near. “Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Yes, Genea in this instance refers to the Jewish people, whos context and exposition in Mathew 24, Lk 21 is derived from Jeremiah by Jesus. In other words Jesus echoed the promise made that the only condition israel as a race will cease to exist is by the same condition presented in Jeremiah 31. This is why it was proper for Jesus to say the culmination of all things is with his comming which would do exactly that, shake the heavens. Since he spelled doom for israel he reassured them of what Jeremiah said, that only by the cancelation of the decrees of the natural order can the Genea of Israel pass away, or cease to exist, not by the romans, nor the persecutions mentioned by him, but only when he comes back, which is when the natural order will be shaken, thats why this GENEA will not pass away untill all is fullfilled, whos culmination is with the stars falling and sun, moon etc ceasing to give light, only then will israel cease to exist, but not before.

So if in light of Daniel 7, Mathew 24 presumes Christ's ascendancy, what are we left with regarding His return? We know He sits at the Father's side only until His enemies are under His feet. We can sense that storm gathering. Would you please consider an additional video speaking to the conditions of His return, that we can more safely assume, now that you have dispelled what they are not? Thank you. Appreciate you very much. Bless you, teacher.

I’ve been comparing the partial preterist view, with the futurist view, and have yet to draw a conclusion. It seems to me that a lot of puzzle pieces fit together amazingly well in the partial preterist view; if only we can force a few pesky pieces into place. On the other hand the futurists seem to know exactly where the pieces will fit, once they finally emerge. There are waiting for so many pieces to be created; I don’t see how they can be so confident in their conclusions.

The futurists appear to have all their ducks lined up but in reality they are failing in every category. They talk the talk, soooo where is fulfillment of anything. They say, oh it's all future. So with an answer like that they haven't proved anything!!!! This a game with them, pin the tail on the anti-Christ. It's purely newspaper eschatology with no real substance. Conjecture in it's truest form. That's why I never bought into the futurist nonsense. I am a partial preterist. In a world full of bad actors it's real easy just to label so and so but that once again is always conjecture. That is the futurists Achilles heel.!!!!!

In about AD 30 Jesus said no one knew the day or hour, not the angels or even the Son, only the Father.
Who inspired the subsequent writers of the New Testament? Wasn’t it the Father?
The Father, through the Son, inspired the apostle John to write the Revelation of Jesus Christ, correct?
What was John told to write to the seven first century churches?
Here are some samples of the time statements the Father gave to the seven churches existing in John’s day:
Revelation 1:1 “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John”
Revelation 1:3 “Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.”
Revelation 22:6 And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place.”
Revelation 22:10 “And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near.”
Revelation 1:19 (YLT) “Write the things that thou hast seen, and the things that are, and the things that are about to come after these things”
Notice John was not given prophecies for the distant future. He wrote of things that must soon take place because the time was near. In 1:19 he was told to write about past, present, and things about to come.
The Father was the only one who knew the day and hour in AD 30. By the time AD 60-70 came He had revealed the imminent time of the end to every inspired apostle and their audiences.
Trust the exclusive and imminent time statements given to the first century audiences. The Father knew exactly how to communicate to His people living during the last days of the Mosaic age.
We live in the prophecied Messianic age. Biblical eschatology has been fulfilled.

By about AD 60 had anyone been informed of the coming day and hour that was previously only known by the Father?
Peter wrote to those of the twelve tribes dispersed among the nations. He informed them:
      1 Peter 4:7
“The end of all things is near; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.”
James wrote to the same dispersed tribes:
      James 5:7-9
“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. 8 You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. 9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.”
James told them to be patient and wait until the Lord comes. He then said His coming was near, He was standing at the door. (Read Mt. 24:32-34 with these verses in mind).
Had John been informed about the time of the day and hour?
      1 John 2:18
“Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.”
He taught his audiences that they were living in the time of the last hour based on the signs they’d observed.
      What about Paul?
      Romans 13:11-12
“Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 The night is far gone; the day is near. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
He reminded the Roman church that they knew the time, the hour of the resurrection had come, salvation was near, and the day was near. It’s pretty obvious Paul had received revelation from the Father about the previously unknown day and hour. And they were near for him and his audiences.
      Trust the inspired time statements.

As far as Matthew 24:30-31, I think the disciples would have heard the Old Testament resonances. “Tribes of the land” would be a better translation in my view. The tribes of Israel namely. The ingathering would have naturally made them think of passages like Psalm 107:3. The hope of the diaspora being regathered would have been the natural idea to them. This regathering of the diaspora has found an ultimate and superseding fulfillment in the church.

Thank you for a very well presented video and with your open and honest interpretations of the verses discussed. I just have one question to ask you: since you kind of acknowledge that Matthew24 & related verses are languages of Jesus' second coming AND you also said you believe there will be another yet future coming of Jesus, then in my mind, you are actually believing in total THREE comings of Jesus, am I right? I don't see three comings being taught in the bible at all. In other words, I can understand two positions: (1) futurists who believe in the first coming which happened and a yet future second coming (which in my personal opinion is not supported by scriptures); and (2) full preterists (of which I am one) who believe the first coming and the second coming (AD70) had happened already. The above is just for discussion purposes with you. You are doing a great job to share your journey of seeking the truth. The Lord bless and keep you brother!

Thanks! Thanks for your gracious comment. I hope some of my other videos where I explain why I don’t take a full preterist position don’t offend you. Revelation 2:5 is a good example of how I understand the word “coming” contexts like this. I think there not merely 1 or 2 comings in judgment but multiple visitations of judgments (Ex 19 the Lord in a sense came to Egypt) But I do think there will be a bodily return of Christ as well (usually called “the second coming” but I think this is confusing terminology.)

Your comments are so gentlemanly there is no way I would be offended. I have been discussing full Preterism for five years with three Christian brothers who are "adamant" futurists and we are still talking.
Just a few quick response/sharing to your comments above:
      1. My view is that the bible does not actually teach a " bodily return" of Christ. Acts 1:11 which uses "hon tropon" for " just as the same way", as used in a few other bible verses, is a symbolic expression. I recommend a video by Travis Drum who did a video on this topic.
      2. Although there may be several judgements recorded in the bible on Israel and other nations, I see that when it relates to Christ's coming, there are only two comings (appearing) according to Hebrews 9:28.
      3. The Olivet Discourse and the book of Revelation are talking about the same coming and judgement on Israel. For example Matthew 16:27 = Revelation 22: 12 (to repay each person.....).
Just sharing what I have learned with you, hope you don't mind it's a bit lengthy😂. Have a great weekend brother! The LORD BLESS you!

You went from the frying pan into the fire. You had better rethink Matt.24:30. That's not the 2nd coming at all. This is the fulfillment of Matt.23. and Jesus 7 woe oracles against His enemies, the pharisees in 1st century Jerusalem.!!!! There is no 2nd coming in the Olivet Discourse!!!!!

@@davidwoods6015 Why not expand our perspective and include the entire NT?
Jesus told His disciples that they would know when He was near, standing at the door, and that it would occur in their generation. (Mt. 24:32-34)
Later, every inspired apostle taught their audiences that the end was near. During the time of their generation, James informed the twelve tribes scattered among the nations that the coming of the Lord was near, the Judge was standing at the door. (James 5:7-9)
Peter, James, John, Jude and Paul all taught the end of the age as about to be, near, shortly or soon to their audiences.
Trust the exclusive and multiple time statements regarding the end. Biblical eschatology is focused on the end of the OC Mosaic age and the full establishment of the NC Messianic age. All prophecy has been fulfilled.

@@davidwoods6015 The first century audiences were taught two comings of Christ. Once to be the sacrifice for sin, the second time to bring salvation.
      Hebrews 9:27-28
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, 28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
Do we know when the day of salvation was to occur according to Scripture?
      Romans 13:11-12
“Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”
Paul reminded the Roman believers that they knew the time, the hour had arrived, salvation was near, and the day was at hand.
      Why reject this clear teaching?

Good teaching, many Theologians, preachers, teachers has tought by lateral interpretations, rather they understanding Old Testament language was Apocalyptic language...that's why The book of Revelation is confusing to most Christians.

What was it ciaiphas saw? Was it what he perceived from Pentecost onwards in the disciples. Was that the 'coming from now on'
The transfer of power, the destruction, was that the sign of the coming, of his arrival when He puts his foot up on the footstool?

      I’m in favor of it!
However, I don’t see much evidence to suggest that there is a secret coming of Christ prior to the second coming. So I do believe that followers of Christ will rise to meet the Lord in the air, but I see this as one event at the end of this age.

It speaks volumes that in John's Gospel he never speaks about the fulfillment of these prophecies, only the mention of the "Eschati" Imera (last day), and resurrection. This tells me everything except the resurrection of the dead has already occurred. Acts of the Apostles comes close to showing this with the expectation of "restoring the Kingdom" to Israel. The new Israel is born from Pentecost and the Holy Spirit; the temple is prophesied to be destroyed, and Paul's teachings to the Gentiles complete the process of ushering in the New Earthly Kingdom with a heavenly hope.

What do u think of Matthew 25 (judgment of the sheep and goats)? Most preterists don't comment on it. Is it past? It would really need to be because Matthew 24-25 are all the same Olivet discourse. In chapter 25, Jesus has arrived on the earth and is bringing forth judgment.

Yeah it’s a good question. I’ve thought about it a fair bit. I’m open minded on it. I’m inclined to think that it points beyond AD 70.

@@BiblicalStudiesandReviews"when the Son of Man comes and all his angels with him, then he will sit on his throne." (mt25)
Very significant if that's future. Yet, earlier, the disciples asked "what would be the signs of his coming" and chapter 24 says "they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
It seems like 24 and 25 are same event. It is the same sermon, same context. It speaks of the Son of man coming with his angels in both chapters. If 25 is yet future , it means at least some of the details in Olivet discourse are yet future. This would then be a challenge for "this generation" not passing away until all these things take place if some of those things are indeed still future.
      Just some food for thought
