400 Years Old! - INCREDIBLE 1600's Museum Piece Found Metal Detecting a Colonial Stone House!

- If you saw last weeks Metal Detecting adventure, we got access to a virgin ground 1740's colonial stone house that was clearly never detected before. We found a ton of colonial period relics, coins, and other pieces; including one drop dead gorgeous 1760 Spanish Silver 2 Reales Pistareen! Well when that video ended it was only halfway through this incredible day, so this is part 2 where even more amazing pieces were found including a boatload of old coins, some crazy cool artifacts, and one piece that goes all the way back to the early-mid 1600's that might just end up in a museum! Somebody hit me because this place must be a dream!

If the museum accepts your lock you should put a QR code alongside it linking to this video. Patrons might enjoy seeing what it looked like when it was first found.
Excellent advice!
Every time I see the lock it moves me to tears. The workmanship and the age , is beyond words. Thanks for finding a great piece of our history. It definitely needs to be seen by the others. Thanks for sharing your wonderful video. From Texas USA
Yeah, we don't get finds like that down here (Texas), unfortunately.
I really like watching your videos. It's nice seeing a bunch of guys my age enjoying a hobby that can be satisfying and a fun way to spend an afternoon razzing each other and being happy for each other when a friend finds something special.
that triangle lock is incredible. also, the coins found made an amazing hunt all around. congrats to all who were out there.
Thank you for finding American History & displaying for all of us!!
The 1600s lock is sooooo coool! I would love to touch something from that century. Must feel so weird!!!
come to the UK and you can go for a beer in a pub that was built in the 1600s if you wanted to 😅👍
@@weedfreer Yes! England has an amazing history for sure!
@@KayInMaine England...and Wales/Scotland too...have ALL the history!

@@weedfreer Yes! Sorry. 😎

That Lock is freaking awesome
Ol' guy jokes are always the best.
One of the best I've seen. That should be a Cub bear on that pin.
Jealous of the finds.
Congratulations on that beautiful lock.
Thanks Steve!
I know that it won’t mean much to anyone else but Doug is a spitting image of my grandpa that we lost 3 years ago to Parkinson’s disease(agent orange from his service in the navy). I watch this and am in awe of how much they look alike. Not only that but my grandpa was a huge civil war history buff. He would have got a kick out of these videos. Thank you Doug for looking the way you do! Lol you bring me a little bit of peace.
Wow Jason that lock is absolutely amazing. Never seen anything like it. You and the whole quarter hoarder team did such an amazing job at that place thank you for sharing a little bit of history with us.
Thanks. Places like this make it that much easier
Jason....I love what you and your friends do! I have secretly wanted a metal detector and tools my whole life....and that's been a long time. I research anything historical, along with researching people through genealogy. They all go hand in hand to see a bigger picture of the past.
I think my favorite find is the triangle lock. It is by far one of the rarest things I've ever seen in a dig. That banana paid off! haha!
My understanding of that piece is that it would have been a lock for a personal trunk. You are probably right that the key may have broken off. There may have been a sliding plate to cover the keyhole. I would have been silly giddy to find it and want to dig a hole to China to see if there was anything that it had been attached to. However, it was obvious that you were respecting the owner's property and replacing your divots!
Do you ever get to Alabama? I have lifelong family friends that live toward the North and they lived in a house that was built around 1820. We stayed there often on trips to visit. There is a great deal of history there. They had very good relations with the Cherokee Indians, including Andrew Jackson. They assisted Jackson in the civil war and Jackson relied on them heavily for trade, as well as allies during the war of the states. I'm sure that house is a haven for detectorists.
Take care and thank you for a great video. I'm a new subscriber after today!
Glad to see how this day ended for you guys. We are lucky to find coins 100 years NEWER here in MN. Amazing find! Jim Parry, Backroads Metal Detecting
Wow that padlock is very cool. Lifetime find.
Doug...that 59 quarter is my birth year....congrats
WOWZERS! MY GOSH YALL REALLY KNOCKED THAT ONE OUT OF THE PARK. I want yall to go back again and again. I thought Dougie was gunna fall over with his quarter spill. He's got silver fever. Thanks yall for the entertainment. Hi Paul and Charlie. Great finds for all.
That lock is awesome!
Best video ever! Loved it, you guys are so fun to watch! Love your humor too;)
Since I live close to the Mercer Museum I’ll definitely go and check out your awesome padlock. That’s so great you are donating it☺️
Great content man. Y’all are enjoying a life of cool metal detecting. Blessings!
Gotta swat a fly away every time a video begins? Great job editing and saving birds of history that would be otherwise lost forever
Great coins and relics at that place. Must be exciting to hunt there not knowing what century the target is from. Sweet KG spill, Charlie’s Duece, that Infantry Button is incredible and that lock is the most amazing I’ve ever seen. Great job boys.
Thanks for another great detecting video. Some Fabulous relic coins, especially the 1760's King Charles the III Reale. The padlock is really cool ....... and from the 1600's. It's great that you plan on donating it to the museum. The infantry button was simply incredible!!!
Relic detectors dream site! Good for you guys👍👍👍
Doug’s new extra alter ego” Dig Doug”
Dougs last find was a pin badge for the cub scouts much love from New Zealand
Hey Jason and gang, I don't comment often but that lock is outstanding! And Doug's 2 Reale amazing! Enjoyed the hunt. Congrats all around. Cheers Kevin
Thanks so much Kevin.
Congratulations! That lock is an incredible find! What a great group of guys! That permission is definitely worth going to again! LFOD!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Congrats on the lock Jason, but everyone found amazing stuff.
Wow the lock 🔒 was super awesome !
My great great grandfather also fought at Gettysburg, at little round top. He survived too, named Van Pray.
Wonderful! I’ve never seen such a great reaction to a 1959 quarter! 😆♥️
That lock is Amazing! Congrats Q!
Way to go guys, that place is packed with History!!! 🤙
Wow! What a dream hunt! Congrats to all of you on such amazing finds! And thanks for the great videos! ❤️
What an exciting day ‼️. Congratulations on so many awesome treasures. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Looking forward to seeing you guys in October.
Keep it up man! I look forward to watching your videos every single week.
In 1965 to 1967 quarters were made in Philadelphia and Denver, but none of them had a mint mark. The Reserve was attempting to discourage collectors from collecting all the new coins since the silver coins had to be "turned in". Starting 1968, the Denver mint was allowed to show the D mint mark again!
WOW....What an awesome hunt by all you guys... Incredible finds...Sweet coins and relics...👍
Outstanding Infantry button & lock was amazing. Congrats to Doug with his finds.
Jason + Doug = hilarity! I can't stop laughing.
Wow, that was the coolest padlock I've ever seen! Y'all had some really good luck with the coins. They were nice looking coins to be that old. Take care of yourself. 💖
That house is so sweet , love the stone
all I can say is WOW!
Hello Quarter Hoarder from Laura from the West Midlands UK
Great channel you guys! Love the comradery and the great humor (and no cuss words which is fantastic since I watch with my kids). Keep up the great work. I just got a Vanquish 540 (first detector ever) and can't wait for the MN ground to thaw out so I can give it a try. By the way, I LOVE the shirt Charlie!!
That lock is totally incredible
I like how you show what a nice internet photo of a coin to be able to compare to what is found.
Whoa Doug huge congrats on that pistareen that thing is amazing!!!!!
Incredible digs guys! Congrats! The Lock is so cool! Blessings boys! 👍😘
Not only were you finding awesome things but that yard kept them all in superb condition. 👍⚒ Doug had me literally lol with the Girl Scout comment.
I hope the Museum takes the Lock,

I was laughing so hard my eyes closed. Lol
22:28 is a cub scout badge which would be worn on a sash.
Well done boys!!!!!!
Jason gets so excited. Tons of fun !
The moment I saw the pin that Doug found at the 22:00 mark, I thought it looked like a Cub Scout pin. I remember them from my scout days.... a very long time ago.
Epic day right there!!
Excellent finds all the way! Great adventure simply amazing! Congratulations to you all!
Great hunt. Great finds. And great display of finds at the end.
Congrats on all those wonderful coins and to you dog with that Spanish
Unreal ! You guy’s are the best
Cub scout Bobcat pin....they were still an achievement back in the 60s when I was in, very cool find
That lock is amazing!
Enough locks in museum I'd keep it on my desk. That's a beauty!!
Great and exciting finds. Fun!!
Guys, wet ground conducting an electrical current is so much better for metal detecting. The magnetics are easily located in wet dirt. You can get a few inches deeper on your read
Outs in wet soil
Watching Doug digging with his short shovel bent over reminded me of about 15 odd years ago when someone said to me that in years to come I will have a permanent stoop and bad back from using a short spade so I purchased a full length spade with a small blade. Never looked back since. 😊.
@@dogtagdoug6751 Hi Doug. I understand. This was the first time I noticed the shovel you were using. 😃. That makes sence. The funny thing is to us over here nobody detects the grass parts around houses. Lol I haven't even detected my own garden. P.s. That 2 Reals you found is a beauty. 😊. I love finding milled silver coins. The earlier ones are nice from the reigns of Charles II and James II but are scarce finds. We mainly find silver coins from William III reign. I am surprised with all the George coppers you find over there you should find some William III silver coins but I would be very happy finding those Real coins. HH. From across the pond. 😊.
AWESOME finds you guys. Always look forward to watching your videos...good luck to all of you guys on future hunts..
Incredible finds. The padlock would be hard to part with though. Not everyday someone finds something like that.
Hard to part with because nothing mechanical is more worthless to "collectors" than padlocks without keys. Besides maybe rusted padlocks that wouldn't work if they did have a key and it's "value" is nothing so unless you give it away and even that's hard to do with true non-working scrap metal junk, it's going to be hard NOT to "part with".
And all those "finds"? Are all "junk" as far as "collector value" and somebody "back in the day" OBVIOUSLY "salted" that "colonial" yard with junk "antiques" with zero "monetary value" for a "treasure hunt" at some point. Probably "back in the day" when metal detecting was "hot" and the local detector "dealer" was looking to move product with customer "demos", a local club was trying to recruit new members, a Boy Scout troop was "treasure hunting" or some similar total "set up" with exactly zero "monetary loss" if/when some or all of the "treasures" were never found. Which is the case when you expect the machine to "do the work" for you.
@@deeremeyer1749 So, do you throw away everything you find unless it has monetary value to a collector? Does holding items in your hand from colonial times not do anything for you? I don’t get it. I wouldn’t give the old lock away. It’s a relic with historic value. Maybe not monetary but the value is definitely there and I don’t detect for a living anyway.
@@deeremeyer1749 You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. That padlock alone would be wanted by quite a few museums. And the coins are really great too. And the value in the padlock is not the ability to use it but the history behind it. You need to educate yourself more.
What an amazing place to detect, everyone found some cool items. I think Doug's Spanish silver and Jason's padlock are my favorite finds. Congratulations everyone, awesome hunt!
Yeah it was worth the wait for part 2. Great vid
Another off the chain video-great job guys 👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks Aggie!
Congratulations Jason, that was a phenomenal hunt!
Love charlies reaction with the infantry button and had a story to go with it 😊
Man those finds were insane. That lock is amazing!!!
Amazing Finds! Awesome Lock!!!
I've started watching your vids now. Good finds in the last two!
Wow , Just Wow guys !!! Amazing finds . Y’all are the best ❤️❤️🌼🌼
Makes me think about a house right down the street from me. It was built in 1792. The owner appears to be having some remodeling done and I keep looking to see if I can spot anyone to try and ask permission. The yard is on the small side but as with any hunt you never know what is lying in that ground. Being said ground has had over two centuries of inhabitants transversing on it definitely increases the odds of finding something special.
I spewed coffee out my nose on Doug’s beaver comment
Wow! What a record day! Congrats to all of you!
Great hunt! The lock is amazing but that Infantry Button is a dandy! (Pun intended)
Thanks Rob. The old coins are great but it’s finding amazing relics like these that really get me pumped. Hope you’re doing well man and looking forward to hunting together one day.
Yay! New video to take my mind off the news!!
One of the top 5 hunts I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing. You guys are the best!
Super awesome video. Thank you for sharing with us 🤜🤛
So many awesome finds! The Pistareen and padlock are Fantastic finds!! Great job guy's. What a great permission. GL&HH!
Nice find on the lock Jason. It’s nice that you want to donate it to a museum instead of keeping it in your private collection.
Kudos to you Jason! You might be the Quarter Hoarder but you certainly aren't selfish with some of your finds. To offer to donate the lock to the Mercer Museum for others to enjoy shows true class! Respects from this "envious" digger!
Treasure quest J.D.?? Much love ❤
Proudly that is for you give to museum locally
Amazing finds! Part two was worth the wait. That lock was the shiz. You guys never fail to crack me up.
Congratulations boys.
