    I've been waiting for someone to sell theirs second hand in Brisbane, Australia. I found with remarkable, Rm2 and other devices, there is usually an influx of sales around semester break/school break.
    My wife will be taking the rm2 and I'll be getting my hands on a go 10.3 today, very excited!!

    Based on all the reviews I have completely dismissed the Boox line of products and I was waiting for the Supernote A5X2 to drop before the 10.3 came along. The Boox 10.3 just managed to "retire" everything else on the market for me. I am ordering one right now. Onyx managed to create the exact, almost no-compromise product I wanted (the compromise: writing latency, hopefully they will improve on that with an update).

    I have a Go 10.3, and really I use it exactly as you said. If I'm reading, I'm reading. If I'm using it as a notebook, that's what I'm doing. It is a solo desvice for some tasks and a companion device with the computer in others. But having the ability to tap into several different eco systems of digital books (Kindle, Logos Bible) is crucial. And recently, I've started to use Readwise to house all of my highlights from Kindle and using the Readwise Reader on the Boox lets me import ePubs or PDFs to highlight and have those highlights stored away from the documents themselves. It works great and the screen is fantastic. I find myself reading more than I did on the Note Air 3 C because I think the light (or the Color layer over the top) just made it subtly unpleasant, where this device just works well. And I haven't missed the front light at all, but your mileage will vary on that.

      @@faustoliriano6518 sorry, missed this. It works well for Logos. Have to tweak it to get it to run how I like and it’s of course the mobile version, but it allows me to read and highlight my Logos library far more comfortably than reading on the computer or phone.

    Very nicely articulated. The rM2 is still a beautiful device that does one thing very well, and that’s an appealing prospect. But for a growing number of users, that one thing isn’t enough.

    I actually got the Boox GO 10.3, having been a remarkable 2 user. I am very technical and can help myself to setup a device to my liking. I believe Boox is missing on user experience simplicity for the average user. I believe the setup process along with the app ecosystem makes the remarkable way much easier to use on a daily basis. if you just need a device to take notes and do basic things, the RM2 would still win. Certainly, Boox gives lots of flexibility but again it's not as good as the Apple ecosystem either, so they have to spend more resources in that area.
    My advice to Boox is to focus on designing the software (UX) for a non-technical users then add in the advanced options in the background. While i don't have a Supernote, it seems they have done a better job at that from reading their documentation and the videos out there.

      @@doncristobal33 these are all relative observations. Transferring and organizing files on the remarkable is much simpler. I can combine PDFs and notes in the same folders if related. I can natively share by email on the remarkable etc. As I said for a techie, the boox has many options but many times I just want to take notes and that’s it. For more complex stuff I usually use the Apple ecosystem.

    My rm2 got stolen. I considered buying it again - 620 euros for the config it was in! referral program has ended. boox go 10.3 is 200 bucks less than that. and it offers a crispy screen. the rm2's sync and wifi integration was terrible for me, could never put rm2 into eduroam for example. when i want to download a research paper, rm2 needs me to download it on a phone or pc and upload it to the app and then sync. on boox, i go to a browser and download it. the rm2 updates have predominantly focused on the type folio - it is a handwriting device! give me features for that - geometric shapes. jesus, boox has shapes. I ordered a boox go 10.3 and will receive it in a couple of days.

  • @user-kx2rp6kb2l
    @user-kx2rp6kb2l Місяць тому +1

    The RM2 is more expensive, even including exchange rate and shipping to Australia. The Boox is just better for money, and i love it. I have upgrade from a Kindle Paperwhite 2018 though, haha. Being Android is a huge plus for me too, as i can do so much more. Reading on the Boox is just amazing, and the writing is great in notes, and my kid loves it. Just being able to use it like a newspaper too with puzzles like mazes and crosswords when opening a pdf is great too. I have shown a few people the device and they think its great. I do agree that the screen refresh could be better, but i understand the limitations and i am fine for that. Ive found the refresh speed means i slow down a bit, dont browse the internet on it, thats what my phone is for. So as long as i stick to the more focused, slower tasks, this device is fantastic.
    I think the biggest let down, is that there are no other First or Third party cases for it yet and so I'm stuck with the default. Ordering Pens is annoying because I can't test them on the tablet before i buy them.

    I currently have both, the Boox since approx one week.
    For my use case - simple offline note taking - the reMarkable still does a damn good job.
    The Boox has some nice features (simple change of pencils, simple lasso),
    but on the other hand, it does have some issues with ghosting.
    The integration of the PlayStore is really nice, but indeed it is not needed for my usecase.

  • @DigiDriftZone

    I still prefer the remarkable2, there’s something special about it, from how the case folds in on itself to the texture on the marker pen to how premium and polished everything feels to how impossibly thin it is. I think their keyboard is a distraction, what I really miss is full text search of my handwritten notes. Not having that is frustrating. Even the Scribe lets you export your notebooks with full handwritten text search.
    Most of the Boox feels like a workaround on top of a workaround, the adjusting the speed constantly, manually refreshing, the Android apps not being optimised for eink etc.

    Thank for another excellent comment on new Go 10.3.
    Question though. You have mentioned in several videos you are using OneNote on Boox devices. As math teacher I’m considering buying Go 10.3 specifically for inking math equations during the day and later in evening converting ink-to-math on PC. Do you think OneNote on Go (or Note Air 3) is responsive enough to prepare pages and pages of equations on free moments during the day?

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  Місяць тому +1

      @@KitBetts-Masters Yes, ink-to-math is available on onenote. Unfortunately only on PC with Microsoft365 subscription. That's the reason for workflow where notes could be written on android device, but conversion to formula elements and copy/paste to word or powerpoint has to be done on PC.

    See Kit, I just don't know if I agree. I have both... and trying to decide which one to get rid of. Yes I love the Boox but something just keeps pulling me back to the RM2. I think I love the fact that it is JUST a notepad. Like my many notebooks in a previous life - it does one thing, and does that well. The BIGGEST draw to the RM2 is the desktop software and the sync between the apps and the device. Boox is no where near. I do not need a device to read on, just to take notes. I much prefer my waterproof Kindle so I can read in the bath!!!

    Everytime, I want to buy a boox device, I somehow hesitate, because I always read, how bad Boox is treating its customers. Customer-support seems to be really bad for us average customers... It would be very interesting to make a video about this. I am so close to buying the Go 10.3 ... but again... as I try to decide, whether an insurance for this device would be a good Idea I get more and more into stories of hardware failures and really terrible customer support. In general - do you have insurance for your devices? As the Go 10.3 is so delightfully thin, it would be nice to experience this luxury without heavy cases to protect it. But after these stories I think, i might need a really heavy case and sreenprotection too... Of course - when I break it, it's my fault. But there are lots of stories, where the screens stops working on its own, because something seems to break on the inside.
    btw. does anyone use screenprotection on these devices? Sounds stupid to write on a screenprotector and not use the intended, original paperlike screen-surface, but i wonder, how fragile is the screen? The device in general? And what is it all about boox's terrible service for customers...? Is it that bad? I think, as someone who just tries to get into this world of e-ink, there are a lot of interesting questions that could/should be objectively adressed. Would be nice, if you or the community here shared some experiences - always keeping possible bias towards boox in mind, as the channel is very boox-enthusiastic;)

      I've had two Boox devices. I had a Boox Max Lumi which I sold because it was too big for me and I still have a Nova Air. I never put screen protectors on them and I don't put a case on them. I do use a slim felt sleeve for the Nova Air if it goes in my bag but that's it. Neither device had ever gotten scratched, tbh they seem pretty robust. I've never had any technical or hardware problems and I've never needed to contact customer support. Personally, I really like Boox devices. There not particularly intuitive UI wise but once you know what you're doing, it's fine.

    Fantastic Video! - Kit I truly value your videos and your Opinion. I had the Remarkable 2X and returned it both times because of the Eco-system. I want to use the E-Ink device as a Paper Notebook replacement. I have an M4 IPAD but I do NOT like the writing experience (even with PaperLike screen protector. So ….. I am back at looking at an E-Ink Device. Would you - Get the Boox (which one) or a Remarkable and fit the lack of the eco system (IE export notes as a PDF) and attach them to something else (Apple Notes, Notion etc.) or would you get the Boox, OR hold out for a Remarkable 3. I love the writing experience for the Remarkable but that is it…. There are only 3 things I would use the Boox for 1 - Meeting Notetaking, 2 - I like the idea of Kindle Books (and Notes) and Possible Reader - which I use a lot on my IPAD. Thank you!!!
