  • Vlog of interesting stuff I do and/or am into... just for fun
    in this video I'm showing the current trigger pull weight on my Live Free Armory Apollo 11.
    This gun is a 9 mm double stack 1911 aka 2011 just like a Staccato. This is a sub $1,000 gun directly competing with the SA Prodigy DA 1911 and the EAA Girsan Witness 2311.
    I've had this for a couple weeks. I've put nearly 300 rounds of mixed ammo thru it and so far no issues. it has been running perfectly.
    This gun comes with a Red Dirt trigger as stock which has adjustments for take up over travel. I also tuned the sear spring to lighten the trigger pull weight.
    I wanted to show the potential performance levels of this gun as compared to a Staccato specifically trigger performance. I've got it pretty damn close. I think I can get it even better. we will see...
    Anyway check out the video, see for yourself and enjoy!

    Love the channel Thanks for all the good information. Have a question I'm kind of new to guns and to red dots. I was looking to put my new optic on And I don't have the proper tool size, What size tool did you use to take the plate off the gun?

      The tool used for these screws is a T10. Optic screws are Flat Socket Cap 6x32 x 7/16.

    I just purchased this firearm, love there mission of all American made cnc machined for the average citizen to afford quality firearms. How are able to tune it to that light of trigger pull. It’s advertised as 3.5lbs you got it down to 2.5lbs impressive. Is it just breaking it in? ( I’m new to the 1911 platform)

    There is a magazine in there (i assume an empty one). Why doesn't the slide lock back when you cycle it?

    • @galexgarces
      @galexgarces  6 місяців тому

      Good observation. I'm using a dry fire training device in the magazine that holds the following down so that the slide does not lock open. It's called tap-rack drive fire mag insert and you find them on Amazon. They are orange. Good question thanks for asking and thanks for watching.

    Nice job bro... I am simple when when it comes to guns..1) does it fire? 2)Does it shoot straight? 3)Does it not malfunction? 3 yes answers and its a go for me :)

      yup same here. For being a 2011 class firearm the value is excellent.

      There's been multiple cases of hollow points failing to feed. Classic 1911 traits

      @@JulianLares yeah man.. I heard about that..going to switch over to fort Scott TUI and see if that solves the defensive round issue.

    Did you have to do any cleaning up/filing to your trigger channel opening? Mine feels good other than it feels like it is hanging up or getting caught on the polymer somewhere

      No I did not need to do anything to the trigger bowl channel. However I did adjust the trigger shoe with the extra long Allen key that comes with the gun. I also adjusted the trigger sear spring to lighten it up. When properly adjusted the trigger is awesome

    Man this gun I full of problems! My apollo 5"
    Got problems with - feeding full metal jackets , extracting , slide Release almost falls off!
    The Coating coming off just from siting on the night stand!
    Whats the point with a budget 2011 is you can't shot it!!!! If I knew that it will be like that I would have paid extra 1k and got a bull armory 2011
    This handgun is 💩

    I actually just bought a Live Free Armory 2011. Where did you get that mag from?

    • @galexgarces
      @galexgarces  7 місяців тому +1

      Its a 20rd Prodigy DS mag made by DuraMag. Standard 2011 compatibility. They work well and are cheaper than all others. You can find them everywhere online.

  • @piggygameing4223

    I got a prodigy mag for mine but it seems like it isn’t setting properly all the way in when I try and cycle the slide the rounds get caught up on the feed ramp did you have a similar issue?

    • @galexgarces
      @galexgarces  8 місяців тому

      you got an Apollo 11? 1) make sure you clean and oil the gun very well. 2) check the duramag (prodigy) mag feed lips are very smooth with no burrs (if so take mag apart and smooth out the burrs) and lastly 3) polish the feed ramp on the barrel. 4) 1911/2011 mags usually need spacers due to original design so possible consider that 9google what I mean). the gun needs to be broken in. good luck

    • @piggygameing4223
      @piggygameing4223 8 місяців тому

      @@galexgarces yeah everything seems to be in correct shape I was thinking polishing the feed ramp would do it and I will have to check into the spacers you are talking about
      And yeah I kind of thought the prodigy mag wouldn’t have any issues with the Apollo 11 with all I have heard but with legitimately every round it just hits the feed ramp seems like the magazine doesn’t sit high enough

    • @galexgarces
      @galexgarces  8 місяців тому

      I have a video showing how it ran fine with both my prodigy mags. also i had multiple kinds of ammo including JHP and no issue. let me know how yours runs after you polish the feed ram and tune the mags. good luck
