You may want to actually put the ad in the video 😂
Those tires alone are worth the price of the car with the life still in them LOL
I wouldn't buy this audi.. this Ferrari however 🤯
Taylor what a lovely car wow it's come up lovely all that car needs is the rust treating underneath the car and a bit of a welding around the car and it will be even better than it is but wow it's just wow you've done the car proud
That red shirt haha
Many true things have been said about the greatness of having Taylor on this channel, but I just want to specifically mention how much I enjoy the addition of Robin (and now Bryan) in these videos. Both their banter and their professionalism when it comes to detailing really take the whole quality up a notch.
the V2 squad is the strongest line up!
Agree robin is a funny guy !
Taylors a natural presenter! Better than Alex IMO! 😂
Was so enjoyable watching them tidy up that shitbox, seems the guys buying ruined supercars are missing the point if you ask me
Well put
Taylor that was the most enjoyable episode from the Auto Alex family of channels I’ve seen in a long while.
agree!
@@MdvK13979 double that!
Absolutely agree. Looking forward to the next episode.
It’s unbelievable how natural Taylor is on camera, nothing is forced, nothing is pushed.
Just a man that really can do it!
Much better than Alex too
100% compared to the ADHD fuelled nightmare that the main channel can be this is amazing
Alex is a dickhead most of the time. Much prefer Taylor.
Alex create a monster.
Well done Taylor.
You should do more classic cars like this. It's fun 😂
@@wikdstixofcheese I dont think he would last 10 minutes 🤣🤣
I love the videos hosted by Taylor, they are fun, informative and without the unnecessary yelling.
Really enjoyed the second ad
Taylor is a natural presenter and this was a good vibes video!
Amazing Ad at 7:03 😂
Best advert ever.

This was a nice gentle episode, it wasn't in your face, just a nice car getting a refresh. I had fun watching!
I have to say that I’m really liking Taylor’s presenting style, it feels very honest and is nicely relaxed, not the frantic hectic style of some others 😂
Superb you’ve saved the Allegro! They’re not rubbish like the haters make them out to be. I rescued one from a paddock my mates mum bought new in 1978, metallic Brazil brown 1500 LE with a beige vinyl roof. I put full size white walls on it for a laugh and renewed all the hydragas suspension spheres , Allegro got more attention and people stopping to chat about it wherever I went than any other classic I’ve ever had.
Those rose tinted glasses you've been wearing must be strong
I also had a Brown Allegro in the early 1990s and it was a great little car took my family camping in Cornwall no problem. It was very reliable and economical as it was fitted with the venerable Austin A series as fitted to the mini and the Morris 1000 and many others. Most of the people who claim they were crap never owned one, they are just repeating a well known, but untrue opinion.
Oh no... Vinyl roofs are always horrendous to work with... I don't want to know how much rust is underneath there!
It was great when it was the 1100 in 1960. But by 1978, not great.
@Ayedidyae
More nonsense from someone who never even owned one. The floor pan of the Allegro was from the Austin 1100 the best selling car for decades, the engine was also the same as the 1100 the Austin A series. The only thing that was different was the modern rounded body shape, yet you claim it was the 'biggest disaster'. How could it go from best seller to disaster just by introducing a modern body shape ?
My favourite channel in the ‘auto Alex umbrella’. Taylor is brilliant - glad to hear he’s going full time with this sort of thing
Completely agree!
Such a pleasure to watch people take pride and pleasure from their work. The ribbing is natural and amusing with no BS, forced "humour" or "banter". Alex must take notes.
Yes just the right amount of silliness / cheekiness, not the usual tedious predictable AA nonsense….
My dad is a retired mechanic had a 1974 Allegro from 1976 up until 1991 and it ran sweet as a nut. Only reason it got scrapped was there wasnt anything left to weld to ;) it never missed a beat in its life!
Taylor is a gem to the car universe. I enjoy every video he presents, especially with this soothing natural way. Pure love for cars. Thank you guys
When Luke and Brian awkwardly uncouple after the realisation this isn't content for their OnlyFans
I did notice this 😂 are they actually together?
It's really refreshing seeing UA-camrs treat old cars with respect, even if they're considered shit they have lasted this long and deserve to be cared for
Liking the calmer pace of this video
These sort of videos give me a nice warm James May's Reassembler type vibes - perfect for a weekend morning!
A Taylor video on a Saturday morning?! What a treat 🫡
These were underrated cars to be fair. You’ll think I’m crazy when I say that I swapped an old Mk2 Granada for the exact same Allegro like Taylor’s one. The Grammy was becoming a rather expensive car to use at the time way back in the mid eighties, and I swapped it for the Allegro at a garage down in Bosham, Hampshire. The Allegro certainly wasn’t as quick as the Granny, but it did all I needed it to do, and was a reliable car. It did well, and I did well when I sold it for more money than the Granada owed me about a year later. Great video Taylor, and such a great detailing job. Looking forward to seeing more of the Aggro. 👍
I love this episode. Just the simplicity of it all. No digital gauges, no million sensors.
Is it me, or doesn’t the front look a lot like the new Honda E? I’m sure some smaller EVs are taking inspiration from classics like these.
Can’t wait to see the next episode.
The honda E never took off well enough for anyone to know what that looks like 😂
@@danpaul4975 I must admit, I loved the design of it. If they did a petrol or diesel model I’d get one. I’d have to retro fit some chrome mirrors though 😂
This was one of the best Auto Alex videos for ages!!! More like this please. Much love from Down Under

Wonder if that was a place holder or them just mucking about
@@_Junkers I did get an ad there when watching on my TV, so presumably it was a placeholder for midroll ads on UA-cam.
I really don't understand this alex negatively! I think they make a great team. I also love Alex's energy..
Thames television made me all warm inside, brings back my youth 😊
indeed but also aged me 35 years lol 😅😉
I really like Taylor as a presenter. Very Enjoyable episode on a Saturday morning before I go wash the rust bucket mot failure out the front.
Going to get some.hate for this I'm sure, but that's cooler and got a bit more personality than most cars being made today
Paint it black, put that beemers wheels on it, an itll look menacing compared to said beemer! Ive seen one
Love the Viking detailing guys. Comedy gold big Robin. Plus they do a clean job.
Always look forward to Taylor's content, this would be boring and shit with anyone else in it. Keep going mate
I'm glad to see the Allegro getting some love. I must have had 20 or more Allegros in my time, and liked them all. The oil leak from the gear linkage is very common. I think the only ones I had that didn't leak there were either 1500, 1750 or automatic!
Mint Skyline in the background
With some dude just sat on its roof 🤷🏻♂️ I’m going to guess with the white mirror it’s probably not mint.
If that's mint I'm Ghandi
12:40 - I agree with you 101%, Taylor! Taking a car that appears to be worthless and transforming it is wonderful! It's mental therapy!
Detailing videos and transformation/resto videos are maybe my favorite 🤔🥰
Such a lovely video. Totally agree that the calmer pace is a nice change. Great work guys!
Loving the All Aggro series.
I was glad to see the mini show up in the classic car challenge but will admit was a little disappointed not the see a supercharged allegro
The 1500 came with a five speed gearbox and was no way as bad as the people say. If BL had made the 1500 the entry level car, I'm sure the reputation of the car would have been much better. The 1750cc was really quite a lot of fun...
Going through a really tough time with my mental health this made me smile tnx guys love what ur doing x
Stick in there fellow!
Nice and early who’s up earlier today let’s see 😂 I am
I haven't been to bed yet
I've got kids.. Take a guess 😂 sleeping long is non-existent 🤷🏻♂️
Bloody early mate
Me 😂
7:30 pm but sure. Yep up early 😂
Top work fellas, Robin and Bryan fit nicely into the team, and made this a pleasant watch on a rainy Saturday morning 🎉👍 and she cleaned up lovely!
This is way more interesting than the Mini!
What’s sad is one day Alex will eventually realise that Taylor is as important to the channel as he is,, and likely this will result in a break up.. so Alex just make sure Taylor’ is remuneration and or partnership is preventative.. so we don’t have to watch another UA-cam divorce
01:09 - IS THAT A CLUE as to Alex's new sticker/lightbar setup on his recently bought yeallow Ferrari? 🤔😏😉🤣🤣 😎🇬🇧
always have a bit of respect for people keepin older cars alive!
This has to be the back up car like the old top gear challenges
My first ever recollection of a car is my grandparents' red Austin Allegro Estate, as I was born in '75 it must have been around '79 and I only have this mental image of it parked in their driveway. The first drive I ever took was in their Volvo 340, I borrowed it just before I had a license, so I could go to the draft (military) somewhat 100km away... Thanks, Gran for always believing in me❤
Lovely episode!!! This should be made Taylor Made Classics than AutoAlex!!!
I’ve commented before that I can’t watch when Taylor and Alex get together when they first did. I just find the forced banter too much. Rather like I much preferred when Edwin was with Ethan and Jack on car throttle.
This episode is right up my alley. Love the detailing guys and Taylor together.
The car is so beige it’s good. Great program, hope to see more like this one!
Why wasn't the Ferrari sponsored by Car vertical? LOL :)
Or the stollen ktm follow up.
Alex clearly didn’t want to hear another reason not to buy it
That is not a good idea lol
Because the car ended up in a chase
He got two for the price of one😮
This is the content I love! No saftness just good car content without the shouting and being childish!
Although there is rust in a fair few areas of the allegro it doesn’t look to bad for a 70’s car. Could be a good one for possible a future restoration. And too find one in such original condition so you know there’s no nasty surprises hidden under filler is just amazing, really excited to watch more video on this car. 👍
As the 1100 was a bad ruster, when they wanted to replace it rust resistance was one of the things they went for in the Allegro. It had faults (eg. rear side windows popping out) but rust wasn't known to be one of them.
Nice for a Sunday drive and maybe stop off at the little chef for tea
Love this, takes me back to my first car (Hillman Avenger 1500 super). So easy to work on and so mechanically simple. Managed to do everything from a head gasket replacement to full services and bodywork on the busy roadside outside my parents house. Awesome episode!
Robin knows his biz
Taylor is one of the most natural youtubers I have ever seen on camera. Great video. Keep up the good work!!
Great to see Taylor hosting, you are great at this, made up for you now that you have decided to make this your day job, even more great content, The AutoAlex channels are right up there and fast approaching, in my eyes, Top Gear greatness
My first car was an S reg. 1300 super, in blue with blue velour interior, not the best car I've ever owned but the most fun and memorable. Loving seeing this one being brought back to life
The music, the cinematics, clean, simple, very enjoyable video, it had garage 54 vibes. And praise doesn't get higher than that. Well done, Taylor!
I love this! Please take it on road trip and include Robin and Bryan somehow!
my first car was an Allegro 1100. I think deluxe, but not sure. it was a couple of years old when I got it an already starting to rust. Rubbing down, rust treatment and rattle can paint job and it looked great. No more rust. It was a great platform for my Pioneer head unit, the first with digital display. Aiwa power amp, 6 big speakers in doors and parcel shelf and even a pair of Pioneer tune up tweeters on the dashboard.
I loved that car, had it for quite a few years, replaced it with a Dacia Denem, my first new car purchase.
They were not a bad car. Comfortable, roomy and reliable (in as much as it never let me down).
Well done for keeping this one alive!
Great to see an older car getting a second chance to be enjoyed.
Taylor you make a great presenter even if it’s not what you ever imagined you’d be doing a few years ago, good job 👍
My Dad had a Allegro back in the day. It overheated on the Broomilaw in Glasgow and the suspension collapsed in Girvan!! Quality build!
My grandad had one of these in the late 80s early 90's. It was a beige estateand he was so proud of it! Great memories, pure nostalgia...I would keep hold of this one!
Great episode. Taylor is a natural at presenting and his passion for all cars shines through.
This is the best videos on these channels, mostly because there's no Eck or Ruaridh in it. Taylor is the genuine article, but mate, if they've told you to pronounce the channel with a stiff upper lip, tell them to go and ram it. Just do you fella, don't go changing to try and please anyone. Owt-oh-alix is fine with us and the world needs the real Mccoy.
I absolutely loved this! I get the appeal of the Ferrari but what really drew me to and keeps me coming back to this channel is the great team and the fact that you buy cars that anyone can get and have a bloody good time doing it! Don’t stray too far 👏👏👏
This video gave me happy memories of being 9 years old and holding the radiator of my Dads Morris Marina while he fitted an upgraded fan to stop it overheating. I think it took him less than 10 minutes to get it out of the car andnhe didnt know what he was doing when he started. Old cars are much nicer projects than new ones!
This is so calming and relaxing whilst also informative and an amazing watch. I feel like Alex feels like he has to be over the top constantly which is just not the case. Can’t imagine how draining it is for him and the people around him.
The gear selector was a common leak on allegro and the mini. As long as the gear selector shaft looks in good order, you used to be able to fit two new seals to stop it leaking as one didn’t always fix the problem.
This episode was an absolute masterpiece. I love car detailing videos and restoration stuff. Well done lads, keep it up!
When i was 18, no money and a crap job my late dad bought me a little green one of these. Initially I hated it but over time I grew to love it. When it became apparent it wasn't worth repairing anymore i was actually gutted. Nice to see you bring back these little gems 👍👍
Excellent to see Taylor back to presenting videos on the V2 channel again. Great video mate can’t wait for the next one.
This was a brilliant episode, loved the banter with Viking but then the professionalism just shone out of Taylor really enjoyed the calm way he presented the mechanical bit. Brilliant content 👌
Taylor in his "element" - camera ABSOLUTELY loves him. 😊 He became a great presentor and his videos are great. Keep good work Taylor 💪
The Allegro was an utterly loathsome car. Rendered pretty much obsolete just a year after its 1973 introduction when the VW Golf was launched, it was also an icon of British industrial strikes and dark times for UK automotive industry.
However, it is also woven into the fabric of many of our childhoods and younger years. These were almost free in the late '80s and 1990s, so were often bought as first-time cars or kept hold of by older drivers who had bought their last brand-new car and never sold them.
It's as though the Allegro had been sent to the naughty corner for 40 years but has now been let back in to join the others.
I will always remember the Alegro for the front wheels breaking off (common fault on cornering?), and I actually witnessed that 1 time on a rounder bout in South Wales UK back in the 80's!! Just remembered also if you lost your keys you could open and start it with a pair of hairdresser scissors or straight small nail scissors lol!!
Honestly better shape than when it came off the line by the end of this series. Those things came off the line rusted, malfunctioning and held together with spit and prayers. Doing a hell of a job, Taylor! Great work!
Brilliant video. Gave Taylor a chance to shine (just like the Allegro). Looking forward to seeing it back on the road.
My father had a T reg 1300 super estate automatic as his first new car. It was utterly miserable, from its wheezy engine to its hopeless 4 speed box, that used to slip between third and fourth gear. I was 8 when he got it - stand out memories was having to stop halfway up the hill coming out of whitstable for it to 'have another go' at cresting the top, its constant returns to Barretts for warranty work to sort out a) the journey from whitstable to canterbury having increased from 5 to 8 miles, to the front window shooting down into the door and breaking, all covered by the 'supercover', which had a sticker with a car wrapped by a hand.
Fortunately he did the decent thing, putting us all out of automotive misery, by aquaplaning into a coach and writing the blessed thing off. Next car .... Talbot Solara!
I have to say, I don’t think an Allegro has ever looked this good probably ever or if one has, definitely not since it left the factory. I’m an Aussie so don’t know a lot about these cars but I do know they were bought by mostly working-class families in the north of England and were used and abused so to give it a real tart-up I feel is very long-awaited. Massive props to Ryan and Robyn
Great episode as ever.Taylor is awesome whenever he does his thing on here. The All-agro polished up a treat as well. I can’t help but hate them,my sister had one and my bro in law spent almost every weekend under the bonnet or under the car putting many things right with it.Can’t wait for the next episode all the same.
This is really enjoyable to watch! Im sure we would all appreciate if you made more episodes like this. "Wheeler dealer" style fixing. Not in your face. Loved the detailing aswell, the boys do real good work!
Love these episodes, Taylor is a natural and the content is strong! Car looks great
You guys always sound so chill and relaxed that it is almost boring, but y'all are like an addiction! Keep it up, you guys are great!!!
Love your solo videos Taylor, you've become such a natural in front of the camera. Dare I say it, but your presenting skills are so good that you could easily carry a very good Wheeler Dealers style set of videos with yourself and Jooshy, maybe bring back the trading up series for that G series? Your main advantage is that you can talk the talk but also walk the walk with the spanners as well, which was always my bug bear with the main WD show.
This was the best... Taylor does such a great job presenting in a chill way. That lill Austin is just awesome.
Fantastic to see the old Allegro get some love. 11.25 seeing the Thames television logo come on before the ad was a pure nostalgia trip into my childhood 😁.😮
this was a brilliant episode and I love everyone in it - more of this please!
Love it, this Allegro is the same age as the Marina I bought in 1987, which all be it Leyland I kept till 93 and sold on in perfect running condition. Same colour as well, white with brown interior.
In 1988 took an Allegro to Monaco. Over the Alps (couldn’t afford the motorway tolls), brakes were crap, had to pump them, even after bleeding. Needed a new master cylinder, but no money for such luxuries. Parked up the harbour and got more looks than any Ferrari. Perhaps we just enjoyed the adventure, but thought the car was OK and it got us home.
Oddly I think due to age a lack on numbers, it has gone from a boring car, to quite a cool car.I imagine it will get looks as simply alot of the newer generations wont even know what it is :) I cannot wait to see it all finished and driving :)
Taylor!!! PLEASE make your own channel, I love the quirkiness of the usual AA videos but this was a really nice change of pace. You need to make videos showing how to replace, maintain and fix items in our cars. I promise to be your first subscriber! Keep up the good work.
Allegros are fun, man. A and E Series engines are nice enough, they handle ok and the way they lollop and bounce along is hilarious. I think they're really underappreciated.
The second Ad is so amazing, I didn't even skipped it!
Also looking forward for more content by Taylor on V2!
As much as I love the banter and silly laugh with Alex, Taylor and Rory. I love the calmness of Taylor in V2, so it balance things out.
Having a laugh until my face feels warm on V1, and just chilling on the weekend morning with V2.
This brought back some memories, my 2nd car was a t reg 1.3 in pageant blue ( amazing what you remember 30yrs later) was a huge step up from the 1.0 fiat panda it replaced. had it for a few years and over 20k miles only issues were a stuck thermostat and a dead alternator
Great to see an Allegro being given the respect it deserves: I also think they are very cool and that the styling was decades ahead of its time. The 1275 is the best engine in them I reckon too
Love this classic series on this channel more fun and interesting than the main channel, feels more genuine for the car enthusiasts
It would be a nice project to somehow make it more modern if possible. Better supspension. Some nice new hubs and wheels. Possible engine upgrades to make some more power en just main fixing and emoving the rust. And after that a road trip.
Im really happy Taylor is part of this party. It's like when James May joined Top Gear.
