Super awesome video. This has been great. I was DJing over a decade a go now prior to all the digital controllers. I have been mind blown and overwhelmed by the what and where of everything. I am looking a turntables thinking I must get a top of the range Ddj flx10 plus a new laptop.. (big investment! For me) but the flx6 has caught my eye and now I know it has stems capability to be set up I am going to get this plus a laptop.. thank you for such a insightful video
Bro, I'm completly a beginner and did not decide which specific controller to buy yet, your video will push me more toward the Flex6 than the Flex10 specially with a difference of $1000 between both, Thanks again your video is precious bro!!!
It is possible, although it has a very different mapping functionality and not all features are available there (ex you can't process fx separately just track stems) furthermore, I've personally avoided using serato due to its imperfect default mapping, overall not just a huge fan of its ergonomics, so, if you wanna do it on serato, you definitely can, but i didn't make same presets/mapping for it. Do you think it might be beneficial if I make a video tutorial about it?
@@appar1tixn yeah that is a fair comment, i do like serato but i find rekordbox more versitile when it comes to the affects. It is entirely up to you mate if you want to make a vid about serato and mapping etc. I was just curious if you could do the same on another program.
It isn't possible to entirely same setup due to differences in software but I'll probably make another vid, cos there are for sure some serato fans out there
Haha, tbh I was considering it as well, on place of sp. scratch functionality, it’s just it quite tedious 😅 but probably would be quite useful. Atm super busy but maybe in 2-3 weeks
Hi I'm wondering if you can help me . I just got a DDJ-FLX6-GT and loaded rekordbox 7 and the firmware for the ddj but the DDJ-FLX6-GT is not working. Please help
Hi! Good question, filters or in fact any CFX which are active atm (filters are part of CFX in rekordbox) are always active, but only on what is active via CUE, so, if all 3 parts are active, filter or any other effect would behave like usual, only now you can for example leave out the vocals, and filter inst and drums, or whatever your choice would be
Hi! If it works only on deck 2, then it should also work on all other decks. Check in recordbox if there’s option with 3 dots selected instead of 1, in case it’s three, basically you can have different CFX for each channel, which isn’t programmed in this controller. When it’s 1 dot option, you’d have same CFX for all 4 channels. Make sure that CFX are enabled (name of effect button is blue)
Thanks for making this video. Just got my flx6. How did you learn to program it like this? I’d like to add more features too to make it work like pioneers more advanced controllers.
🍌 Instructions for Manual Mapping (in Rekordbox): Part 1 1. Navigate to… MIDI Settings > DECK Tab 2. Select ADD & add TrackSeparation Function for each “ActivePart” (Vocal, Drums, Instrumental) 3. Add each function & ActivePart for each DECK (2 or 4 Decks total) // for extra clarity: DECK 1: TrackSeparation: ActivePart - Vocal TrackSeparation: ActivePart - Drums TrackSeparation: ActivePart - Instrumental DECK 2: TrackSeparation: ActivePart - Vocal TrackSeparation: ActivePart - Drums TrackSeparation: ActivePart - Instrumental 4. Add TrackSeparation Function for each “ActivePart” under the FX Tab (only 1 round of adding each ActivePart for FX) 5. For Part Isolation (Vocal, Instrumental, Drums, Mode), add TrackSeparation for each “PartISO” under the MIXER Tab Part 2 6. Find unused MIDI mappings from which to remove Functions & replace with our TrackSeparation functions 7. MIDI codes are assigned to instruct controls: for example, “MIDI IN / OUT - 9734” is assigned to “SAMPLER5 Play / Stop” 8. If you don’t use Sampler5, navigate to the SAMPLER Tab & delete the associated functions for Play & Stop, etc 9. Delete each unused MIDI mapping function per DECK Part 3 10. With Sampler5 functions removed, the associated pad is freed up, so we’ll select SAMPLER on our controller to initiate SAMPLER mode // access the freed pad(s) 11. In MIDI Settings, Select *MIDI Learn or *LEARN to start a mapping session (works like "record macro") 12. Select whichever [TrackSeparation Function] to map to a control (it will be highlighted) 13. Manipulate / map your desired control - in this case, push the pad associated with Sampler5 📝 NOTE: When “learning,” your software is essentially recording your actions. We selected SAMPLER (pushed the SAMPLER button) outside of “learning” because - had we not - this would toggle every time we used our pad! 14. End MIDI Learn session (re-click LEARN or MIDI Learn) Part 4 15. Map all the things; name & save your MIDI mapping profile 16. Test (or don't, lol) More: 📝 NOTE: I’m not entirely sure, but features like ‘MIDI Learn’ may require a plan, although I think the DDJ-FLX6-GT qualifies as a “hardware unlocked” device. @@appar1tixn New features have appeared on all decks. The problem is that I can't turn it on/off with the Keyboard Pad. However, I downloaded and imported DDJ-FLX6-STEMS.csv.

In this tab there are functions "Active part Drums/Inst/Vocal" and all of them should have 4 digit numbers assigned for MIDI IN and MIDI OUT. If they're not present - config wasn't imported properly. 4. Last, just to be sure, you press on hot cue button while holding shift, right?

The answer is unfortunately always "read the docs" 😅
Rtfm is the secret power :D
is there a serato version of this?
Not yet since I’m not a serato user, should I make one?
