Good morning, Laura ☕️8-21-2023 Is the day I’m watching this and man, what a time for the Power Planter! I love watching these old videos. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
Laura that's a great design...you got some curves in there it looks so good but I can imagine the softness and color contrast of some lavender...so exciting...I have been redoing my gardens after having a stroke over 10 years ago and I dont have a lot of income but I have managed to redo quite a bit by buying 5 very small pots a month it is starting to look gorgeous with a few different salvia aduba, butterfly bush lots and lots of plants you have spoken about my next job I'd to start collecting bulbs to add drifts and buy a few evergreens for my winter interest but thankyou for teaching me to grow one patch at a time years ago I would have to have the whole lot done together now I pick a pocket of my garden and plant and change until I like it so I'm calling it pocket gardening so thankyou from the bottom of my heart for teaching me how to pocket garden it was overwhelming but a little bit everyday has given me my happy beautiful place.
What a lovely comment! ❤️ This is absolutely my favourite channel! She has taught me and inspired me more than you know. They need to get their own TV show on HGTV!
🌷🌿🌻Your neighbors are so lucky. They get to enjoy looking at all of this beauty every day. Although your projects are on a grand scale, every gardener is inspired and encouraged to make their own spaces beautiful. I can't wait to get outside and garden! 🌻🌿🌷
Amazing formal design ! Add some benches, along the pathway , to invite a well deserved rest, as you glaze and admire your handy work . Just keep the benches away from those wonderful bees. 🐝🐝🐝
I feel so very lucky to get to watch this entire area come to life from the beginning! Thank you Laura and Aaron for sharing this with all of us and for all of the inspiration. I don't think I would be gardening as much as I do if I hadn't found your channel!!! 💚💜💜💚💜💚💜💜💚
Looking lovely!! I really like the whimsy of the swooping boxwoods. I'm looking forward to seeing the flowers planted. Maybe a bench as the focal point in front of the flowering crabapple. Really appreciate the design and planning tips. I have LOTS of garden books but have learned so much more from watching you!
Pretty design. The lavender and roses will add so much! As others have said, you've got a perfect venue for additional benches! I hope you'll include a water feature somewhere along your walkway. It's always great to watch you guys work on a project together! Take care. God bless you.🌾💜
Laura, I can only imagine the satisfaction y'all must feel when you drive in, see your hard work paying off in such a beautiful way. You were so right with the straight pathway. Looking forward to each part!!🌳💚🌳
Instead of urns flanking the path you should put in pillars with built in lanterns on the top! If you do built in lights on a timer it would be gorgeous at night
You two are truly the BEST! Your property is just therapeutic in the most grandest form, and the longer the vid the wider my smile/eyes gets 🤓😍. Aaron your drone shots are simply mind blowing whether you do them on or off your amazing property 😍🤩😍 I thank you dearly for those!!. Your teamwork is so on point as in let our work speak for us. Oh yeah!!! Your ideas are so vivid, when they come to life, one could just bow and give you nothing but award winning praises 🥰🥰🥰🥰. Lastly I must say I am right there with Russell and that charming and handsome little Benjamin 😍😍😍enjoying this glorious property. Thank you and your family for sharing...each and every moment is thoroughly and highly appreciated.
Wow, fabulous design, Laura. So elegant. Watching your videos is so good for me. I'm naturally "cottage-y," but you've helped me see how I can bring in more structure. I really appreciate that. Also, great that you talked about how long this project has taken. Puts things in perspective.
Beautiful ! ~ I agree, that area does not need a large statue. I would NOT place any urns/containers at the beginning of the brick path either . . . It doesn't need it, too busy. It will only divert attention from the GORGEOUS urns/plinths. ~
Love the design of the box woods, I think it has a bit of whimsy to it. I can’t wait to see the inside swoops filled with color. You guys are doing an amazing job, I’ve actually been anxiously waiting for another brick pathway video. It looks awesome!!!
Hi guys!!! Y’all did such a wonderful job!!! Wow!!! We are absolutely loving this area so so much!!! 😍 I can picture it and it’s going to be like entering another world a very beautiful world. I’m looking forward in seeing the roses and lavender just stunning everything 🙌🏼!!!! 😃😍💐💚💚💚💚💚💚
What a great design. It is going to look fabulous. Well it does already. I agree with no statue/concrete at the end of the path. The crabapple will look fabulous as the end point. Lavender and roses sounds perfect.
Wow, That's alot of planting, watering and fertilizing to do. It'll be Beautiful when everything comes together and gets done. It's hard to stop the creative juices in gardening... it's so fun! Good luck with it all. Can't wait for all of the flowers to fill in and bloom everywhere! So pretty!
Wow Laura and Aaron, I can only imagine what it is going to look like once it fills in, I'm loving the design and I think lavender planted in the curve would be spectacular. I think the way you have the ends work well, I think putting a cement square would take away from the lines and design you have going on. I'm just loving it so much and I'm so excited to see it as it grows. I have been trying to tackle just small sections of my yard at a time, although my yard is tiny in comparison to yours, but I love it and it fits me. Thank you so much for this video it was so much fun to watch, see you in your next one, bye for now.
For people who are just watching it, it may be helpful if you set a playlist for this project. It would be a great review on how to plan a space from scratch! And enlightening for any judgemental people that this is a project you've been investing for. Great video! Love how you broke down the planning concept.
That's a good idea. Or you could be like a lot of us Garden Answer nuts and just go back to the beginning and watch every single video...several times. lol
OMG!!! Great design. I'm not a professional, just a home gardener, but I too designed my yards. I love your design, I love how you came up with it, the decisions you made. Wish I could see it in person. So awesome!!! I love everything about it!
Everything is beautiful. I’m I the only one that can’t wait for Christmas, and see the beautiful things that you do with your new pieces. Love love love it
HI Laura, My son and I love watching your videos! For the last 10 years I've been gradually been making-over the gardens at our 100 year old house. It was completely wild and neglected when we moved in complete with tree stumps and poison ivy. Your show is an inspiration!
Hi Laura and Aaron! You two make such an awesome team! I like what you did with the sprinter boxwoods and the cone shaped shrubs. It looks so nice! I'm anxious to see what else you do later on. I like your idea for the lavender and roses. That will be so pretty! Facing the large urns, what about putting some smaller cement pots to the right of them? As far as a large piece at the end of the walkway, I agree with you. If you could find just the right bush, or small tree, that might work. I know you'll the find the perfect thing to go there. Thank you for sharing!
We have a small yard (2500sqft ish) and are trying to landscape it. This will be our 4th summer at this house. 1st year we got rid of moss from the walk way, kept the weeds mowed and edged around the walk way and house. 2nd year we tore out all the dead plants and shrubs from around the foundation to create a foundation garden. Last year we had a baby at the beginning of spring so we just maintained and this year we’re hoping to go in hard. We got rid of 1 dying tree which has created so much more air flow and light. Hoping to get rid of another, add to our foundation garden, move the shed, create a “patio” space at the side of the house where the shed is now and possibly grade and reseed the whole lawn area (in the fall). The lawn may need to wait another year of the shed and patio don’t get done... but those are my goals!
I can just imagine walking down your path with the soft, early sun highlighting all the boxwwood, roses and lavendar. It's a classic garden look that will have greater impact with each season. 🌹 Beautiful design!! 🌹
I support the roses ideas. The fragrance from roses as you walk down the pathway... ohhhh heaven. The green, the roses, the scents, the peaceful walk... a walk to remember 😍😍😍
Omg its lookin so good!!! 😍 I think a nice bench/seating area right where that "5th urn" would be would look sooo cute and perfect outside the veggies and the walkway meets right there, and then the path would have 2 destinations now, yes?? Please?? It would be perfect?? And I'm vicariously living my life thru you and your garden lol??!!
I think your formal/cottage style is perfect. The pathway is beautiful. I just had 4 large Leylands taken out, so the timing is perfect. Can't wait to see what you plant in the urns!
You two work so well together, I'm looking forward to seeing the next steps and how you prune those Sprinter Boxwoods. You guys have an absolutely gorgeous property! It's amazing to see the progress you've made so far in 3 short years along with having Benjamin in that same time frame. You both are very inspiring! I planted the "stinky" English Boxwoods about 30 years ago and it's time for me to pull those things out and plant some of these Sprinter Boxwoods, so I can enjoy my backyard in the spring again.
I'm so glad I found this video! This happens to be my favorite place in all of your gardens! It looks so beautiful today! I can't believe how big those arbovitae has grown!
You two are amazing really. I think my only hesitation about so many boxwoods is the amount of water needed to keep them happy. They really are very thirsty plants in a high desert climate.
WOW !!!! That looks amazing Laura :) :) You are soooo good at designing and visualizing an area ! Thank you for the blank slate design tips, that was extremely helpful and better advice than any tips I heard before, seriously !! You are absolutely right that the crab apple does a great job at being a focal point. I love how beautiful the area looks, you are a natural designer !!!!
Stopped the video to say that I agree about skipping the concrete piece at the end. I think once everything is growing in it will be too much. Those concrete planters on the side are stunning. The area is gorgeous and I LOVE the boxwood design & plan with the roses. You have such an eye for design.
Just wanted to let you know I just HAD to go back & find this video when i realised somehow I'd missed this progress! And WOW ! What a wonderful design( the straight path perfect foe here) You've both done a wonderfully here- so restful & stunning simultaneously! Big congrats from Australia 🌻🌻☕️
Omg i am imagining the design in my head with the roses and the hedge and the lavender and maybe tulips if you guys will ( they are my fave ) and i am just so thrilled to see the results. I really can't wait the tease is reaallllllll . All the love ♡♡♡
Well done! Looks gorgeous, fair play to you guys, it takes an awful lot of time and money to do huge projects like that. Thanks for all you do for us fans!!! Rebecca, Ireland ☘😁😉😍
Laura and Aaron, it does take a long time but it is coming together beautifully. Love the way it looks and it will look even prettier with the lavender and I think you said roses in those curves. I get so much inspiration from you. I have to tell you that none of my hellebores survived the winter but I am going to try again, they are too pretty to give up on after only one try. The sedum I planted after seeing it in your garden however, is doing marvelous, going to get a few more of those also.
Wonderful you finally have the curves you always saw in this spot. As a floral designer and educator for over twenty years the power in design always shines through with the use of odd and even numbers, which gives an even flow within any design/arrangement. So with that being said I see that you have two black arbors within your garden, why not introduce one more black arbor at the far end of your brick pathway! Then you've introduced an odd number which always stands out.
Laura, Stunning!! I agree with nixing the piece at the end. In my minds eye I imagine a niche made out of a hedge. Something mysterious with maybe a bench in it. A place to sit and view the length of the garden from that side and a way to create a destination from the vegetable garden. Just an idea.
Laura has such beautiful eyes. Looks just like her pretty mamma. I enjoy watching your videos sweetheart. You have a god given talent. I did, for the first time, buy some PW superbells lemonslice. They were a little pricey but I started off with 4 plants to put in pots. I watched so many of your videos and a few other videos of other sites and I completely ripped out my old flower bed and updated the whole thing. Better late than never.......new gardener at 50 here.
Thanks so much for sharing your process, it helps to understand that it’s okay to take your time because our plans can be overwhelming. Your garden/landscaping is stunning!
Watching this approximately 40 months after you installed these boxwoods & amazed you dug all these holes, especially knowing you later discovered AUGERS! Your work is remarkable.
Beautiful!! Laura when you talk about plants/trees I just fall in love with all the varieties you show us. I wasn't a big fan of boxwoods but I'm coming to appreciate them more because of you. Thanks for always inspiring me and helping my garden evolve.
What an undertaking! Poor Aaron, all those holes! It sure does look beautiful already. I can’t wait to see it when the area is all planted up. I love everything you do in your garden! 😍
THANK YOU so much for putting it in perspective!!!!! I get impatient when I don't get to plant anything and it's just about prepping the soil or removing invasive vines or pulling weeds. My husband and I bought an almost 100 year old Colonial and it took me a solid year to get a "feel" for the types of gardens I wanted. That pesky prep work pays off in spades, it's just hard to focus on that when you're in the thick of it!
Girl you are a work horse , die hard It is beautiful already I love your garden's you inspire me daily I reference your plants every shopping trip to the nursery thank you and God bless you and your family 💖
Yes! A fountain in the end of the brick path! It'll be the focus point and the pots a long the brick path will be the part of the stage and th focus point will be the staring.
Ah! I’m in love! Trying to convince my husband to let me spend this big of an investment in our small backyard. But you’re right Laura! You have to prep first, and next year we need to get the whole yard graded and drainage fixed before I go crazy with putting in a formal space.
Gosh, you guys work fast! Ha ha! Even in real time, to complete planting more than 100 shrubs in two days is awesome. There must not be a sprinter boxwood to be found in the entire region. It's good you'll be planting the rose bushes soon before those maple trees get too established and compete for root space. I can't wait to see the part two.
Wow this is beyond awesome, the curves around the trees are brilliant, I LOVE the straight brick path, I don't think this beautiful design would have worked with a curved path !! Personally I would not like a heavy cement "something" at the end of the path. I can tell you are somewhat excited !! xx
It’s a banner day! You uploaded a video and I just received shipping notification Proven Winners for my sprinter boxwoods and bobo hydrangeas. Can’t wait to plant. I’ve learned so much from your videos and I’m soooooo jazzed and excited to do more landscaping. All thanks to you!!!
Great ideas. Here's a idea for your for the end peace plant both sweet williams, & button flowers. They look gorgeous together. Plus give you some great color there.
I love boxwoods and especially in a hedge. Thanks for the information about the sprinter variety. My wife doesn't like them because of the smell and now we can have the best of both worlds with the sprinter!
Wanted a refresher course on how to plant a boxwood hedge. Watched this older video of yours. Just think how fast it would have went if you would have used your now handy auger. 🙌🏻
It will be beautiful! So nice to see young people working really hard to achieve their goals. You deserve all that you have accomplished through all your hard work!
Your West border is MY VERY FAVORITE PART OF YOUR GARDEN
Good morning, Laura ☕️8-21-2023 Is the day I’m watching this and man, what a time for the Power Planter! I love watching these old videos. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈

I feel your enthusiasm 😍😍 that's also me 😂
That's so awesome your able to get back out in your garden again. I pocket garden myself. 🙂 God bless, and happy gardening! 🌼🌻🌷
So happy you are able to get back in your garden. Happy gardening💚🌱
What a lovely comment! ❤️ This is absolutely my favourite channel! She has taught me and inspired me more than you know. They need to get their own TV show on HGTV!
I love that...."pocket gardening" I'm also a pocket gardener.
🌷🌿🌻Your neighbors are so lucky. They get to enjoy looking at all of this beauty every day. Although your projects are on a grand scale, every gardener is inspired and encouraged to make their own spaces beautiful. I can't wait to get outside and garden! 🌻🌿🌷
I still laugh when I think about how she climbed the fence and planted trees on her neighbor's property (with their permission, of course).
Amazing formal design ! Add some benches, along the pathway , to invite a well deserved rest, as you glaze and admire your handy work .
Just keep the benches away from those wonderful bees. 🐝🐝🐝
I think some lamp posts would be nice too. (Then we could nag Laura into doing some evening garden tours, lol.)
I feel so very lucky to get to watch this entire area come to life from the beginning! Thank you Laura and Aaron for sharing this with all of us and for all of the inspiration. I don't think I would be gardening as much as I do if I hadn't found your channel!!! 💚💜💜💚💜💚💜💜💚

Christine Pops love the bench idea
My favorite thing is the dandelion in front of the crab apple. It makes me feel like my childhood again.
Hon, your sweet husband must love you to the moon and back to plant all those bushes! You love him right back!
Another black arbor to match/tie in with the veg garden, at the other end of this garden would be gorgeous!
I don't know how that would look when you're coming down the driveway from the perpendicular direction though.
Besides, once those trees waiting to be planted are established, THOSE will be the "statues."
Love the design of the box woods, I think it has a bit of whimsy to it. I can’t wait to see the inside swoops filled with color.
You guys are doing an amazing job, I’ve actually been anxiously waiting for another brick pathway video. It looks awesome!!!
Love the design !

Oh wow, just watched this one several years on and can't get over how much it's grown!! Incredible!!
You guys are amazing!!! Woah-the scale of your projects are mind blowing!! 😱🤯😍
It pays to grow up wealthy.
Tim Standaert Unnecessary...
Wow Laura and Aaron, I can only imagine what it is going to look like once it fills in, I'm loving the design and I think lavender planted in the curve would be spectacular. I think the way you have the ends work well, I think putting a cement square would take away from the lines and design you have going on. For people who are just watching it, it may be helpful if you set a playlist for this project. It would be a great review on how to plan a space from scratch! And enlightening for any judgemental people that this is a project you've been investing for. Great video! Love how you broke down the planning concept.
That's a good idea. Or you could be like a lot of us Garden Answer nuts and just go back to the beginning and watch every single video...several times. lol
@@Bamboo4U2 lol💚💚💚
Love love love it
Gorgeous! I am so covetous!🥰 I need boxwoods and an Aaron!🤣 Great work, guys.
I am thankful the majority of my screen time is through your videos!! Full of inspiration and nature!!
For some odd reason seems I missed this video and I watch GA with my coffee. Shovel digging!!😭😭😭ohhh my goodness! Labour of love!!
HI Laura, My son and I love watching your videos! For the last 10 years I've been gradually been making-over the gardens at our 100 year old house. It was completely wild and neglected when we moved in complete with tree stumps and poison ivy. Your show is an inspiration!

I love that you talked about how to marry the cottage with the formal... that’s my preference for a garden... or so I’m learning lol

It is looking good and I do like the idea of open spaces so your eyes can rest and appreciate. There is so much to look at even now.
I know nothing about gardening, but I wish I did. I love your videos.
I support the roses ideas. The fragrance from roses as you walk down the pathway... ohhhh heaven. The green, the roses, the scents, the peaceful walk... a walk to remember 😍😍😍
Coming here in June 2024. Wild to see the changes. Now you’re contemplating the idea of putting benches facing the urns.
Omg its lookin so good!!! 😍 I think a nice bench/seating area right where that "5th urn" would be would look sooo cute and perfect outside the veggies and the walkway meets right there, and then the path would have 2 destinations now, yes?? You two are amazing really. I think my only hesitation about so many boxwoods is the amount of water needed to keep them happy. They really are very thirsty plants in a high desert climate.
The crabapple as the terminus is perfect!
This is the perfect opportunity to mass plant some David Austin roses around the maples!
Looking back through some older videos. I can’t believe how the box woods have grown now. Wow
I love it all....I was not hot on the concrete object at the end....just build with trees and plants....but you are the master Laura!
Loving the new area. Lanterns, either side of the new path, to mark the entrance, would be lush!! xox
WOW !!!! That looks amazing Laura :) :) You are soooo good at designing and visualizing an area ! I really like the look of the hedge with the swoops around the maples. I like the apple as the focus at thee d of the path.

Cant wait to see the urns planted!
And she's got drip running to them so I can't totally see her loading them up with Supertunias.
Well done! Looks gorgeous, fair play to you guys, it takes an awful lot of time and money to do huge projects like that. Thanks for all you do for us fans!!! Rebecca, Ireland ☘😁😉😍
I love that you explain the thought process behind this - not just what you ARE doing, also what you are NOT doing and why..
Laura and Aaron, it does take a long time but it is coming together beautifully. Love the way it looks and it will look even prettier with the lavender and I think you said roses in those curves. I get so much inspiration from you.

Love watching your videos before I went to sleep and call it a day. You really inspired me in gardening. Much love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
So pretty!! Love the idea of At Last roses and lavender! 😍
Wow, those Arborvitae have grown so much. Beautiful design.
Girl you are a work horse , die hard It is beautiful already I love your garden's you inspire me daily I reference your plants every shopping trip to the nursery thank you and God bless you and your family 💖
I babble endlessly about all the plants I see now that (thanks to Laura) I know what they are and I know so much more about them.
The clouds during time lapse!
Wow this is beyond awesome, the curves around the trees are brilliant, I LOVE the straight brick path, I don't think this beautiful design would have worked with a curved path !! Personally I would not like a heavy cement "something" at the end of the path. I can tell you are somewhat excited !! xx
Your landscaping just gets better and better. Love all of your design ideas. I look forward to each new video.
It’s a banner day! You uploaded a video and I just received shipping notification Proven Winners for my sprinter boxwoods and bobo hydrangeas. Can’t wait to plant. I’ve learned so much from your videos and I’m soooooo jazzed and excited to do more landscaping. All thanks to you!!!
a very special and formal KUDO to Aaron for all of that digging!!!! Wow!
It’s going to be amazing! You and Aaron sure do not need a gym membership! What a workout! Can’t wait to see it with flowers! 🌸🌺🌸
Great ideas. Here's a idea for your for the end peace plant both sweet williams, & button flowers. They look gorgeous together. Plus give you some great color there.
An Artist’s sensibility.
I love boxwoods and especially in a hedge. Thanks for the information about the sprinter variety. My wife doesn't like them because of the smell and now we can have the best of both worlds with the sprinter!
I feel like I've just run a marathon!! You two are incredible. Love the design...the finished product will be amazing!!!
I think a red bud would look amazing where you had thought about putting the fifth urn. With a bench under it when it’s a mature tree.
Can't wait to see this on a drone video...
You couldn't do a curved walkway so you put some curves into the hedge. SMART!!!
Wow Laura you are so talented I can picture what it’s going to look like it’s going to be so beautiful.
Wow who needs a gym membership! Been in my home for 40 years still a work in progress 😂
Beautiful design and execution - that is a mammoth project - you guys are such hard workers!
I think you should match the arbors you have in your vegetable garden at the other end of the pathway. That would be so pretty!
you two make a great team
keep up the wonderful job
i love how you have transformed your garden over the time
What a wonderful way to start my morning I love the swoops around the maples! Always giving me ideas for my own yard! 😁
Love the design...can't wait to see the roses and lavender together!!! And I believe that you can't have enough statuary in your garden!!!
Wanted a refresher course on how to plant a boxwood hedge. Watched this older video of yours. Just think how fast it would have went if you would have used your now handy auger. 🙌🏻
That long pathway will be perfect for your childrens bicycle riding!! Lol
Your 'design mind' never ceases to amaze me ! Love the swoops !
Laura, you are the sunshine to my day, thank you for sharing your beautiful eyes, smile and face with us!
Your design eye is wonderful...it may take time and money but it always works out looking awesome. As always well done.
It will be beautiful! So nice to see young people working really hard to achieve their goals. You deserve all that you have accomplished through all your hard work!
