Very informative, thank you I have a Lenz system and I am just learning my way around it.
It is reassuring that I can call on you tutorials at a drop of a hat.

Wow! Thanks for the fantastic information. I can tell I will need a LH100 throttle. Your explanation of the CVs and their functions was very helpful. Much appreciated.

Do Lenz decoders have a CV value limit? like over a certain number it doesn't work, or is only accessible through sub menus?

Really not sure what you mean. In general the individual decoder manual will show the value ranges applicable for each CV some may be locked depending on what they control - for example the Manufacturer ID in CV8 cannot be changed

@@digitalcareline I guess I mean their range like 0-255. I have an esu decoder that I need to change some things in the 291+ range of the CV's and its not working.

@@dwpedalplayer With Lenz you can programme CVs in the range from CV1 up to CV1048 (Version 3.6 available for 12 years - Older versions had 900 cvs I think). It can cause confusion - in the current recommended practices for DCC there are 1048 cvs each can have values between 0 and 255. ESU decoders may be locked or they may use banks of CVs controlled by the value in another CV- They can be very complex to work out manually and ESU sell a programmer to aid their set up - to manually set up the latest ESU decoders you really have to sit down and work through the decoder manual and write notes. Take care when making changes and write down the original value before you delete it so you can reset it if you need to - Take care Chris
