- How to replace engine mounts on 99 thru 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with the 4.7 engine. The motor mounts are very similar to the 4.0 equipped Grand Cherokee's as well. So if you have a 4.0 Grand installation is very much same as shown in this video.

It never occurred to me how a bad mount could affect the acceleration. Totally makes sense, thanks for including that aspect, learned something new!
Glad to help!
Excellent, recently did the same job on my 99, vast improvement to the acceleration, overall feel of the car.. Did the tranny mount too... Great video many thx
Martin, just want to say thank you! Watched your pitman arm seal change. I have a 2001 Cherokee, but had the same issue as you. Looked under the pitman arm, and there was no snap ring. I was lucky enough to be able to drill a small hole in the outer dirt seal, then access the snap ring and the rest of the parts from underneath without having to remove the sector shaft (which would have required me to remove the radiator.) Anyways, yours was the only video I saw that showed the one seal to tee outside of the snap ring. All others, including the instructions in the repair kit showed the snap ring first. Without your video, I had no idea how to proceed. THANK YOU!
thank you and you're welcome appreciate the kind words I'm glad everything worked out for you
nice work Martin as always.....and you overcome the banana skin of the mount holes very nicely...;-)
Great video i watch it did mine in 30 min thank you great information.
Thank you, I really appreciate that. I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful.
Great video! (Truly) Thanks Martin for updating playlists. Now it’s truly an ultimate. I’m going to change my motor mounts out because obviously they’re super terrible.
I was wondering Martin have you done a video for oil pan removal? I’ve seen some questionable things, wondering what tips or tricks you could offer us. Super appreciate all the information you have put out. 🙌
Glad it was helpful!
I haven't done a video on the oil pan removal.
Thank you! I subscribed
Hi Martin, I have a question, did you know what is the function of the hoses beside the second motor mount? you have it canceled. In mine are free
I installed a transmission cooler and by-passed the cooler in the radaitor. The trans temps are much lower now. Here is a video I did on it. ua-cam.com/video/X_5dd39Z4_A/v-deo.html
im removing the oil pan and need to loosen the mounts. curious where you placed your jack and stands or if you had a hoist to raise the engine?
How about the harmonic balancer
Hi Martin, I am new to Jeeps and working on cars in general and I have been watching your videos to help me do some fixes. However I am stuck on the engine mount replacement. I am simply not able to get the top bolt on the passenger side off. I was wondering if I took the brackets that go on the frame off, then remove the long bolt that goes though the Engine Mount, I should have access to the rear bolt with a socket wrench. Do you see any issues taking the brackets off first rather than the mounts?
try this video this should help with that.
Replace Motor Mounts 99-04 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ with 4.7 using Prothane Polyurethane Inserts
ua-cam.com/video/ZYPwa3j_lNM/v-deo.html
Where do you jack to raise/support motor? Thanks!
I used a floor jack and a piece of wood 3/4 inch thick, placed between jack and oil pan.
Hi where do you get those baldwin filters at?.is it just a b2 or are there any specific numbers for the 4.7 ho
Baldwin B2 oil filter amzn.to/2Metnkf
i can't do right side passenger side. I can't unscrew 9:45 bolt.
What is a martinbilt video without some kind of modification, drilling, welding etc. required ? I learn a lot from your adventures.
If you like that , wait till you see the up coming videos. Things that have never been done to a WJ
That sounds intriguing. Will it fly or be a submarine WJ ? Don't answer that.
Where did you get your hood scoop from?
Americanmuscle.com It is made by MMD. Made to fit the 05-09 Mustang
I know this is super old. What are the part numbers for these? I'm thinking about going with the "anchor" # 3008, and 3012. Any help is appreciated.
Those are the part numbers
Dont cheap out! Work at oreillys and even our power torque mounts look off...
Hi Martin, could you please tell us what mfg you used for the 3008 mount that fit perfectly?
I bought them on eBay. I looked back at that seller he does not list a manufacture. I did find this seller and I like the look of this mount. Notice the machine work around the bolt holes. www.ebay.com/itm/Right-4-7L-Engine-Mount-Jeep-1999-To-2004-WJ-Grand-Cherokee-Crown-52058936AB-/372044221656?hash=item569f904cd8
3008 is an anchor part number seen it on our oreillys catalog before
I bought just the bushings. A lot cheaper, and I reuse my old mounts. I have a press.
Will this cause vibrating while accelerating??
yes or a transmission mount
Could this cause vibrating while in drive my Jeep idles perfect drives perfect when I'm stopped at a light in gear it vibrates still idling at this point when I take off it stops I changed my passenger but didn't have the tools for driver please help
it is possible, the driver side one sees the most wear because of the torque while accelerating.
martinbuilt I was told to change the driver side motor mount the AC would have to come out and so would the radiator is this true?
martinbuilt or could it just be that I need a tune up ?
Jenny Bailey I don’t see why you would. It might protect the ac lines from bending but radiator hose are flexible and we’re only talking 5/8- 1-1/4 inch drop.
Dumb question but couldnt you just replaced the rubber part for the new one to the new one?
Yeah, if you can find the rubber inserts. Here's a video I did on using a polyurethane insert.

How long did this take all together?
I would give yourself at least 3 hours
How many do I need to order? Based on this link?
You need to order a left and a right they are different part numbers. The link that I have below is for the right only, none of the ones I have seen on the internet I would approve of for the left side.
Awesome video bro. Im doing mine on my WJ overland with the 4.7 high output engine. 👍 the right side mount made by anchor is no bueno. No matter how much clearancing I did with a carbide bur.
Time to return it and try an omix ada brand and see if that works. Fingers crossed 🤞
hello, did the omix ada brand work better?
I read that about the Anchor mount too. I’m also wondering if the Omix-Ada brand fit properly?
how ON EARTH do you get the one hard to get to bolt with stock exhaust? Just spent 3 hours turning my self into a raccoon under the jeep but I could not get a wrench on it
I have a 2002 Overland with two mini cats converging into one on the right side
This video should help with those hard to reach bolts
studio.ua-cam.com/users/videoZYPwa3j_lNM/edit
I finally got it by taping a 15 mm holden crows foot wrench to a double long extension ratchet and pryed the tool on to the nut to hold it on while cracking it.... needless to say, I got it but I need a new O2 sensor now 😂
how about exhaust manifold gaskets?
@@wehz0r In this video I install headers parts of it should help ua-cam.com/video/u6-Yl1z8auA/v-deo.html
What brand were those crappy mounts where you had to drill the hole out larger? My goal is to avoid buying those. Also do you know who makes OEM mounts for Mopar? Id like OEM quality but not the MOPAR name brand price. Great video. Thanks
Motor King was the one I would stay away from. I haven't seen any other brands that I would recommend especially the left one . I would recommend going to your Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership to get the Mopar Originals or there are some online sites that sell Mopar original parts.
This is a good video. BUT I see you skip the four passenger side bolts coming out and then skip the upper rear passenger side bolt going in. Which I get it, cause I cant figure out how on earth to get a tool and torque on it. But if that was hard, dont cut it out. Hard for you is GOLD for the viewer because surely they are about to deal with the same thing. Currently I'm stuck trying to figure out how to get the last bolt out.
Those bolts were easier for me than the driver-side
I ran into the same issue yesterday. Any luck getting that bolt out? If so how did you do it?
@@dtown3o3 try using a gear wrench, I believe that is what I used.
@@dtown3o3 I ended up removing battery and tray, moving things around and hitting it from top. I also needed an extractor socket after all I'd done trying before. But from top, it was simple. Put socket on and it was out a few seconds later.
@@martinbuilt Thanks for the advice. That worked for me.
It would have been helpful to show that on the passenger side, you had to remove the battery and battery box to get at those upper bolts. Also, a long 1/2 breaker bar or pry bar was necessary to move the rubber mount so that the long bolt will go through.
I did not remove the battery or tray as I removed and replaced the bolts from below.
@@martinbuilt I wish you would have shown that right side removal. I cannot get the upper rear bolt out to save my life. There is no room at all to get at it as the frame side bracket has a lip on it that makes direct access impossible... I removed the battery box and I still cant see a way to get that bolt out. Ugh. I also had the same problem with the replacement mount not fitting on the drivers side.
@@ikashibimauler Try this video
ua-cam.com/video/ZYPwa3j_lNM/v-deo.html
@@martinbuilt Thanks! I guess I just need a couple different tools than what I currently have to get up in there. My headers really clog up that area and the wiring and stuff really cramps it up too.
I am in the same situation . Did you figure it out ? I’ve been trying different things for the last hour still can’t break it . I feel pretty stupid everyone else can
Isn't it possible to replace only the rubber part? Seems like a waste to replace that big piece of steel.
Diego C. yes you can just buy the rubber Steel part of the motor mount. I wish I had because of the trouble I had with the left side motor mount. Of course you will need a press to press out the old part and then press in the new part
you´re greath!!!11 good job
Thanks
I got death wobble and it snapped my motor mount
Beware
That's got to be the worst death wobble I've ever heard of that it would actually take the motormounts out.
У меня та же Проблема , Разрывает подушки крепления двигателя
check out this video ua-cam.com/video/yN-lJpsS7Zk/v-deo.html
@@martinbuilt спасибо , буду пробовать . А какие инжекторы лучше применять ? Injectors Chrysler , Bosh , Denso ? Which ones are better to apply?
It is ALWAYS something lol true story
for sure😕🙂
Is it really that easy?
The one on the passenger side is the hardest.
crownautomotive.net is the go to place for stock replacement JEEP parts.
It's where I go anyways
very nice wj wanna sell it
Ok ok 9opoooo poo ooppp
The 2.7 CRD version is much harder, the mounts are in a hard to reach place
