I really wish you didn't feel the need to apologize for your answer on picky eaters! It's not a simple answer, and I thought yours was very well nuanced, and covered the range of reasons well, without pretending to know more than you did. That's 1000x times better than what most influencers offer! You're great, your channel is great, and I love watching your whippets enjoy their life with you. Keep it up!!

I've just adopted a beautiful 2-year-old blue and white whippet. Unfortunately, she has had an awful life and is extremely anxious. However, she is slowly becoming used to living indoors and to humans who love her rather than beat her, so I'm hopeful that she will regain her confidence in time. Have you any experience in this area? Any advice would be most welcome, she is such a sweetheart it kills me to see her too nervous sometimes to even be petted.

Hi, I love your videos and hope to see more from you soon.
I need that hand drawn picture posted on the wall above your bed! I want to make it into a sticker for the back of my truck. Who drew it and can you make that happen? ❤❤

Hi I have a question regarding picky eaters. How do I put weight on my little whippet lady? I am trying everything but she doesn’t really eat as much as I would like her to. Compared to your wonderful whippets she seems to be much slimmer with barely any fat tissue. She is one and a half years old by now and I hoped her to bulk up a little over time. Her muscles seem to be growing slowly but she still is a very petite lady. Thanks a lot ♥️

Hello Addie! I just wanted to tell you that I just got my first Whippet puppy on June 3rd! She was born on April 1st. Her name is Shadow and she is tan with brindle marking and a black mask. She’s absolutely gorgeous and so smart! She is very sassy and spunky and her sire and dam are both from performance-bred bloodlines, and you can tell Shadow is going to be larger than average because at 11 weeks she was already 12.2 lbs, and her legs are all so thick and strong, and her feet are pretty large. Her sire and dam perform at races of all different kinds in the US and last weekend the sire placed 7th out of 26 in New Jersey at a straight race.
I have enjoyed watching all of your videos and always look forward to seeing new ones as they come out. Your content and pack of Whippets are what helped me decide on getting a Whippet of my own!
I lost my 16 year old Italian Greyhound, Bella, in November of last year due to kidney failure. I cannot describe the grief, but you know the pain as I do. She was my little girlie and spent most of our time together in my lap when I wasn’t training her.
I am going to truly enjoy raising Shadow and began the training process with her the second day home. She’s still a very young puppy, but has learned a lot of things very quickly. I can tell she’s going to be an incredible girl that I will enjoy spending lots and lots of time with, playing, training, and spending lots of time together.
    Keep up the great content!

Hi! We have 2 whippets, almost same age, both females. They are fed 3 times a day with same amount of food, but while one is slim and fit, the other one became a little bit chubby. We've already reduced the portion by 20% and it helped a little, but still there is a noticeable diffeence between them - 1kg in weight. Next step is to change the diet. Could you recommend dog food with high fiber content? BTW I absoluteley love your videos and learned a lot from them 😊

Which are your whippets favourite toys? My 16 mth old ‘Poppy’ enjoys her squeaky ‘ratty’ and monkey hand puppet ( child’s glove puppet, that has lasted 6 mths). She also loves a tennis ball and various rubber balls. But I’m always on the look out for strong durable toys for her as she’s a strong chewer who loves to play chase me and tug of war etc. Any toy tips would be appreciated, thank you! Love your whippet videos and gorgeous whippets ❤️

Kong make a teddy that has rope inside that makes it durable, this has lasted well and the kong wubba which is a ball but with a material outer and tassles. Teddy has had one arm removed and has needed multiple surgeries to keep him alive lol. We also have a ratty, he is our oldest toy and is on his last legs, he has no fur, and has been re-stuffed multiple times but he is still the favourite.

@@Ned.1274 Thank you so much! We have the little grey teddy now with knotted rope inside plus the rubber ball with tassels which makes her quite loopy with joy 😂 I also found a leather rugby ball with laced stitches across it, she loves zooming around the garden with that in her mouth, even though she can’t always see where she’s going. Soft toys don’t last long but she still plays with them after they diminish from a padded bear to an empty rag 🤣🤣 oh the joys of a whippet ❤️

Thank you for this video Addie. Maja is not as picky eater now when she’s a bit older but she’s still to skinny and just doesn’t eat so much. She had diarrhea for a week and lost 0,5 kg. The vet wasn’t worried but wanted us to try to make her gain some weight again. The vet took all blood tests and she’s a healthy girl. So I guess I have to keep making extra goodies just to make she eat more during a day.

I want to mate my whippet female. I live in Cancun Mexico. Any lists of possible candidates?

My intact male is extremely food motivated, to the point he becomes much less picky the second I introduce a task and the food becomes a reward. This is how I can manipulate him into eathing kibble which he normally wouldn't. And here's the issue. As a pup he would eagerly try anything, like apples, carrots etc. Not sure if this is due to age (5 yrs now) or to the routine. After first 3 years he's been loving mostly with my mum, who cooks him rice + meat + a little of veggies. Now he gets bored with any kibble after 1-2 meals. Maybe I should try to "restart" him the hard way. The painful tooth didn't cross my mind, though it seems unlikely in these circumstances, right?

He's so picky sometimes he won't even touch the food unless it's heated up lol :D And yet he asks for food, just not necessary the one that's in the bowl already :[

Addie, does Arts’s scar hurt her chances when doing a show? I know the judges like seeing perfection! Are you spaying or breeding Arys?

    • @ShowPaws
      @ShowPaws  7 місяців тому

No judge has ever commented on her face scar, but it's really tiny and hard to notice. It's not a fault, so it's never influenced her show results. We have breeding plans for Erys for the distant future. She has to pass all health tests, we have more showing to do and I have to come to peace with the fact she's not a baby anymore 🤣 So not for another year at least.

My two year old whippet girl has been hospitalised four times due to injury (and one illness of week-long diarrhoea and vomiting). Her most recent operation was 12 days ago to remove a grass seed from the plural space outside her lung, which had collapsed due to being punctured by this nasty little object. The surgeons think she must have accidentally inhaled it while running, panting, through a field and it made its way down her respiratory system where it caused damage and disease and then punctured her lung. She has had her surgery and is now fit and full or energy again and wanting to hunt, which I have to prevent her from doing. Her internal stitches won't be healed yet. Another time she had her throat and chest gored open by a dear and needed extensive surgery when she was one year old, but she was saved. Two months later she impaled herself on a stick when she was running through another field and had to have her hip area all stitched up and clamped back together. She has had numerous less serious skin punctures, infections, and injuries that I treat myself, and she's only 27 months old! I am now in financial ruin and I have prematurely aged. This cheeky girl also had ten babies a few months ago so she has also been a mumma. She is living a crazy, full life. My role is to try and curtail her energy and eagerness but she is a wild spirit, fit and young, so it's not easy. Now that she's had a lung lobe removed due to the grass seed incident it hasn't slowed her down as I thought it might. She is the same as she was before and full of energy. She is truly unstoppable!
