  • It Begins! Dealers Can't Sell These $100,000 Trucks
Car & Truck lots are filling up and inventory is coming in faster than it is going out.
Cost Of Living Crisis is a real barrier to people being able to afford a new truck. Increased prices, to trim levels, greed and reason abound are why dealers can't sell these $100,000 and above trucks.

But there was no way I was going for a new one. First home I bought 8 years ago I paid 117k for. No way am I paying that for a damn truck

in the early 1900's only the rich could afford a car...when the model T was introduced in 1908, the middle class finally could get into the 'game' ...we are now going into reverse and heading back to the origin of motoring...the car manufacturers produce and push the expensive high end trim models because that's what the rich/(well to do), who are the ones that can actually afford cars, want...there is no sense making stripped down cars for the masses who no longer can afford any car....even what would be considered a basic car, now sells for 35, 40 ,45K...out of reach for many.

Lets not all forget about all the government required emissions and other stuff that costs the consumers thousands of dollars. A touchy subject is the emissions on diesel engines. All those emissions probably add $10k to $15k easily to the sticker price. Not only are the manufactures driving those prices up but the government is giving them a hand. When a manufacture has to develop a new motor to meet current emissions standards, that expense is passed on to the consumer as well. Our safety standards are nice but those standards add cost to American vehicles compared to overseas vehicles that do not have those standards. I look at the mark-ups as a collaboration between the manufacturer and the government.

The dealers got used to bending over buyers with 30k above MSRP during the pandemic and chip shortage. Now the inventory is piling up again and buyers have options and very little disposable income, so they are be cautious about where and how they spend. All I can say is get ready for huge mark downs like never seen in history come this fall.
