  • Puppy pose is a heart opening yoga pose that stretches the front of the body, particularly the shoulders and chest. It's great for improving upper body flexibility and counteracting bad posture. Here, Personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher Ryan demonstrates how to do puppy pose stretch.
    How To Do Puppy Pose Stretch
    1. Begin on all fours in a table top position with your wrists directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hips.
    2. Walk both hands a few inches forward and spread your fingers wide.
    3. Exhale and slowly lower your chest towards towards the floor while keeping your hips over your knees.
    4. Hold this position and use the breath to relax. With every exhale, try to lower your chest further towards the floor.
    5. If you can reach, rest your forward, chin, or chest on the floor. Hold for several breaths or as long as comfortable.
    6. To come out of this stretch, walk your hands bakc in towards your body and push up to all fours.
