      @@sixtyfiveford use and aluminum fire extinguisher or even better a stainless steel one it will have a tire valve already built in and will not rust clogging the tip up. Its a blast to play with. But you will find out there is a 100s of other uses for it. I can eliminate and entire tobacco barn full of wasps in 10 min from the ground with water and dish shop. Its stupidly amazing .

    Think I watched the gas one great idea .! Wishing I had saved the old gas dryer from this house I'm working on lol but I have been playing with a diesel heater and I have 3 big torpedo heaters but still be fun to make one. Wounder how hard it would to hook that to a thermostat probably not too hard!!! Great video thanks for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    As always excellent job. I got a perfectly good lawn mower and generator at the dump this week, lawn mower had a loose blade bolt making a nasty sound easy fix, generator needen the carburetor cleaned, people are lazy and wasteful!

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  2 місяці тому +4

      People are wasteful but it's a great way to get some good deals. It's a catch-22 though. If you don't know how to fix it, the cost of labor to have it fixed generally exceeds the cost of the item. This style of living can't maintain itself.

      I've started buying used tires for my cars. It's not that hard to get a good set for a hundred bucks and install them myself using a tool made with plans from this channel. When I take my old tires to the dump, I'm amazed at what people have discarded. Often, they are in better shape than what I'm installing. On one visit, I was talking to a guy who was getting rid of a two week old set of tires. His wife had decided that they weren't the 'correct' brand for her.

    I paid $40 for a 1995 Whirlpool gas dryer 8 years ago. My wife said it was the dumbest thing I ever bought. Our 2 year old Maytag was not heating and five of our kids were still living at home. I had to do something. That thing has paid for itself 50 times over. Since then I have had to put an igniter in it once, and a belt one other time. I love that old thing.

      @@sixtyfiveford Yep, our gas heating boiler here in the UK is 20+ years old, all the gas fitters said whatever you do don't replace it with a modern one, they may be slightly more efficient but so much electronics to go wrong! Only thing it's needed is a new exhaust blower fan, 20 pounds on ebay, and 10 mins to fit :)

      For some reason, there are people who need to have their washer match their dryer. If one appliance breaks, both get tossed. My dryer has been going strong for 28 years. The biggest expense was one blown thermal switch from when my daughters stopped cleaning out he lint trap.

My new garage is so big that I could run a gas grill for heat in an area without the fear of CO2 poisoning. I do like doing it cheap, but I bought a NEW 20,000 btu propane heater that mounts on the wall for $45 at an auction. Anything to knock the chill off is welcome. Had 2 stripped bolts on a trans pan that was leaking bad. 1 I was able to drill and tap a bigger bolt. Another was in a hard to reach spot which would have me remove a bunch of supports holding the trans which I really wanted to avoid. Remembered a vid I saw on your channel years ago about copper wire to help get some grab on the bolt and it worked like a charm. No more leaks. Thanks for the invaluable info man your solid.

      You're never going to notice the moisture unless you live in a sealed plastic bag. Generally, the moisture level in winter time is significantly lower than summer. So The miniscule amount of moisture added to the air is great. Moisture also has the benefit of carrying heat much better. So it will feel warmer at a lower temperature.

      Don't need it. A forced air flame puts out zero carbon monoxide. And it's under the 40,000 BTU limit for safe use indoors that's put in place for commercial vent free propane/natural gas heaters/fireplaces to maintain good air quality inside a home. This would never be used in a home though. This would be a drafty shop/garage.

      Under 200 watts for it to spin the fan.

    Did you have to change the orifice size in the burner to smaller id to allow for the hotter propane ? Looks pretty good .

      They take way longer than they should just to figure everything out. But in the end it's always fun.

    Would you ever sell one of your shop heaters? Or make one for sale? I am currently trying to figure out how to heat my garage and would love one of these, preferably the propane heater.

    These conversion videos are irresistible to me! How do you get the rolled edge on the intake holes in front? Also, how do you do the custom decals?

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  2 місяці тому +1

      Generally, I would just drill the hole and then use a pipe from the backside and a ball peen hammer from the front side to round it. In this scenario I used a Christmas tree/ stepper drill bit in the drill press. I used a lot of force and it deformed the metal inwards as it cut. So it gave me a natural rolled edge in. I showed a teeny tidbit of how I make the decals but didn't want to focus on it as it's in an entire process by itself. I essentially use a graphics design program(Adobe illustrator) to design them from scratch and then they get imported into a decal cutting machine called a Cricut. This cuts them out of vinyl then the rest is history.

    i love your video which do you prefer the electric , gas or propane. which one would be most efficient

    • @sixtyfiveford
      @sixtyfiveford  2 місяці тому

      The electric is the simplest and quietest but most expensive to run; $0.60-0.75/hr if I recall. Natural gas is by far the cheapest at around $0.20/hr and depending on propane prices it is around 0.50/hr. So my favorite is Natural gas.
