Obviously these kids both have the talent and heart to be elite, that's been around American folkstyle for decades. What blows me away, and excites me for the future of US wrestling, is the wrestling IQ and mat awareness. These kids are 17 and you can see the end of period urgency or holding on, the positioning as they hit the edge, and when to push and when to slow.
Absolutely amazing stuff for their age. Excited to watch them over the next few years.

@@mufafaa9254 Yeah, well, "control," isn't really necessary any longer for a TD. That's a TD at the College level every single time. They keep changing it because these kids are so damn good at scrambling, you'd have so many fewer TDs if it was old school control.
His mistake was not grabbing those toes on the far ankle(harder to bend or twist your leg out) and then driven through him as he went out of bounds. But Arnold was so quick kicking out and facing...it's easy to say what he should have done.
I remember ~15 years ago Wrestling in the Finals and looking back at guys who'd wrestled before me and thinking, "I'd crush those guys." And I would have. Wrestling had changed and the techniques were developed to stop the top Wrestlers.
Now I look at these kids and think, "they'd have killed me," BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE. Not these two in particular(though these two). Just the passing the ankle and the scrambling. What gets me is when a guy does a gramby roll on the bottom and the top guy just releases, waits and then jumps back on. THAT is some incredible, impressive shit.

@@normanhuntley5747 for sure I agree he was stalling but at the same time it’s not like gabe took any shots until the end we really shouldn’t give stalling calls based on who’s pushing who out instead we should find a way to make it like freestyle where the wrestler is earning the points instead of being given by a reff I hate stall calls they’re too subjective.

There’s not many black guys in division 1 wrestling as it is. Psu and isu probably have the most and they probably don’t even make up 1/4 of the entire roster. There’s just a hell of a lot more white guts in the sport of wrestling than black guys. Just is what it is. Black people are more into basketball

@@honestlybruh4533. I understand that but the first takedown would have won the match. Do you think the first one wasn't a takedown? I know it's subjective but when you have the laces you're usually parallel to each other and not sitting in the guys lap. Sitting in the guy's lap with his arms around your waist. 9:12. You don't think that is a takedown? Yeah, it's subjective but the 1st takedown wasn't that was both ankles while Tate was inbounds. Great match and congratulations to the winner. But, the issue is you not only have to wrestle your opponent but the refs.
