Just wanted to say thank you for making this video. It has really helped me out...
The owner's manual for my 2006 9-3 gives directions for changing bulbs on page 234 & 235. The driver's side was a little tricky, and took about 5 minutes - and I'm a girl! You do have to pull out the washer fluid fill pipe and air pipe - I wondered - but it worked and went back together easily.
I wondered why he did that lol
We'll keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future.
We do show you at the very begining of the video how to reach in and change the bulb without taking the headlight out. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Thanks! Just replaced shattered driver's side unit. This helped tremendously!
+BOB COTTRELL Thank you! We are happy we could help.
You can try to reach behind the main beam and see if you can access the bulbs.
While removing the entire bumper cover certainly gets the job done, you can leave it on. Just remove the top and wheel well fasteners then pull the sides of the bumper cover out and tuck them just low enough to get to the headlight bolts on the side. Then change the headlight housing as shown. Good Vid. Thanks.
+Steve Filipponi Thank you for the added tip. Have a great day! 1aauto.com
could there be a video on how to replace the small side position lights
Thank You! Even though my 93 is a 2001, this helped me get it done (the owners manual doesn’t give enough details.
+Denali 96 Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
No need to remove bumper cover. The washer fluid neck is designed to be removed to accommodate bulb replacement.
can you do a video on how to replace a fog light lens please
I have a 2004 aero convertible and the HID lamp assemblies were broken before I got the car, the tabs were cracked from a fender-bender. I'd like to replace them but they are like 1000 bucks a piece. My question is can I replace the whole headlight with halogen type headlights which I can get much cheaper or is is the voltage and harness completely different?
Thanks , good help
Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
My geuss would be that this PROFESSIONAL did not read the owners manual!
Good job chief! This why people do not trust use professionals! Do your study on things you do not know!!!
what other video did you watch?
I'll probably just drill a hole to get a socket on extension through. Then put a rubber plug in it.
Is This the same process for the '08 models ? 😧
My drivers side light burned out. After I viewed your video I thought I was going to have to dismantle the front of my car. Luckily I saw another which demonstrated how to replace the bulb in about 2 minutes, without the front of the car being torn apart.
Am I correct in understanding that I can replace either the bulb or the entire headlight, which has the bright, regular headlight & turn signal bulb?
Yes, this video will show you how to fix both the headlight and also the bulb.
thought you just removed the fuze box to get at the back of the headlight that's what I do on my 2010 aero
This is for replacing the entire headlight assembly, not just the bulbs.
I need to replace my ballast on the other side. I assume its the same process and I need to remove the headlight to access right?
+trencher7 That is correct!
my bulb is nothing like this. mine has round base and stays in assembly
this helped thx..
+nebulae10 Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
no annoying spring clip?
Why do you have to take off the front bumper to change the headlight bulb?
The bolts that attach the headlight to the header panel are covered by the bumper cover. Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com
On the passenger side you don't. You can just reach in and take the rubber hood off. On the driver side I think you may.
This is for replacing the entire headlight assembly, not just the bulbs.
You would more than likely need to change the wiring. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
I want that car.
+Raymond Gonzalez Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them www.1aauto.com/1A/HeadLights/Saab/9-3/1ALHP00611?UA-cam&CTA+Comment&UhFAbJ5z8
Ummmm yeah not removing that whole cover to change a bulb
way to show everything EXCEPT how to remove the head light!!
You have got to be kidding. And this is DIY?
Darn it! I have all the tools except for a lift.
+Isabella Grimes You should be able to perform this repair in your driveway without a lift. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
Did this today in driveway. Car on the ground.
The lift is just to make it easier, but the job can be done without.
I wondered if just a partial removal of the front bumper would work, as the bumper is quite flexible.
Are you serious? Why are you disconnecting the fluid hoses in the bumper? Just let it hang dude. I wonder if you even have to remove the whole thing. Seems like you made a small job into a big job.
+Dunparrow Removing the whole bumper cover and disconnecting the hoses just takes stress off of the parts that would otherwise stay connected. You do need to remove the bumper cover to gain access to the lower bolts holding the headlight assembly in, but you're right that if you really needed to save a few seconds you could leave the hose attached. We took it off so as to not stress the rubber, and suggest our viewers do the same. Thanks for watching!
