I could find no info on this engine, so thankyou for a little input on it,s operation. Even without water cooling, the cylinder never gets too hot to touch. Would probably need it though if using a torch! My setup is good enough for demonstration, but not for maximum output. Thanks.

A good Stirling engine needs compression. With adiabatic temperature rise in the order of the difference between the high temperature compartment and the low temp one. Only then will the optimal performance be achieved. Look at the Carnot cycle diagram of pressure and temperature.
is that a desktop for show engine or just a sub assembly? whats the specs on it? would be interesting to see a number of those operating in parallel. where did you buy it? was it intended to be modified?
@@crazydoug66 I've noticed the lack of good info. the basic mechanical components there like cylinder casting, crankshaft look like they could be the basis for something with more power. a water kacket on cooling cylinder, even flame on hot head, a good regenerator, etc would be nice.
Very nicely fitting pistons by the look of it. I was going to mention the possibility of compression and decompression in the crank case but then I spotted the big hole in the side of the crank case. Must be very well fitted pistons. Do the pistons have silicon O rings? Could explain the air tightness
Nice engine Doug. Actually stirling engines should have compression but no friction. If they spin freely without compression they are unlikely to run. The engine was designed by Andy Ross and here's what's going on inside: ua-cam.com/video/8lqoEAUY7r8/v-deo.html
with the EDM and the FDM tech available now, in exotic metals... why isnt anyone simply making an inconel cylinder/heat exchanger with the same layout as andy ross was depicting in his builds, where the brazing failed on his folded sheets? swap the pistons and cylinders out for deeply splined and interlocking parts with maximum surface area, no worries about machining or needing to rely on brazing techniques... surface area and transfer rate is always the limiting factor with these... then pump the dam thing full of helium :) i would, but in the country i live? lets just say that a mere bar of inconel requires one sell their house first. any company offering services? rely on military expenditure to stay in business, not private work. it needs to be vertical for water cooling to circulate and gas torch on head to give really powerful output

Hi, where did you order this from I would like one to make a generator with
A good Stirling engine needs compression.
With adiabatic temperature rise in the order of the difference between the high temperature compartment and the low temp one.
Only then will the optimal performance be achieved.
Look at the Carnot cycle diagram of pressure and temperature.
Hot side should be covered to lower heat losses. How much power?
If memory serves max compression for air is about 2:1.. You may check your displacer clearance..
Cool
Have you tested to see how much power it makes?👍
is that a desktop for show engine or just a sub assembly? whats the specs on it? would be interesting to see a number of those operating in parallel. where did you buy it? was it intended to be modified?
It is capable of doing work but not with the small burner i am using. There is more info on the internet but not a lot.

very interesting engine and I like your mods, thanks for showing
Very nice and compact little engine
Maybe the displacer expands and hits the cylinder at the end of the stroke

Do the pistons have silicon O rings?
Could explain the air tightness
Nice. Extra heat would not hurt at all. Tight compression is good for power.
This is a stupid question can you tell me what horsepower it has thank you
Not really, but it would be fractional
very interesting engine

that bloody red bucket is so annoying. What is it doing there?
Where did you get it?
Facebook marketplace. Putting on ebay soon
What's making the noise ? Is the displacer a very close fit ? Interesting engine. Cheers Rob
It is indeed very noisy, yet i dont see a reason. The displacer has .035 clearance
Very nice! Never seen one before, were or are they commercially made and still available that you know of?
Thanks fir sharing.~Paul
I know nothing more about it. Maybe others can add some further knowledge

It should be even more efficient if cooled.
Get to the point...
Get straight to the point you 4:00

No point really. Just sharing a really rare engine that i own and you don't.😊
Must be from Kansas.
