You've got this feeling in the 90's that this was the final Crash game when you're hearing dialogue Cortex with Uka Uka. Darkest intro from trilogy :-D they spoiled the atmosphere of the remaster terribly!
I was never afraid of the N. Tropy entrance but now looking back it’s understandable that it seems scary to some the fact that he waits in the background and you can see his shadow and makes a full bright appearance at the end of the Uka Uka and Cortex scene
I used to play this in 2003 although i always loved crash 2 and saw that as a 5 years old as my #1 game. I must say that back than Uka Uka first scared me the crap out of me. They had this scary/disturbing details. But the good thing is that these games were whitout extreme violence, cursing, and other dirty stuff what i play nowadays. Like Gta
This was a great warmup for Clancy Brown on doing Hades for God of War 3. His voice in Crash Bandicoot 3 is such a fitting & terrifying voice for Uka Uka. Far better then that soft version Dimaggio has provided for the character now!!!
I love how Dr N. Tropy was visible as a sillouette in the distance from the very start. So much better than the cringe remake where he just pops into existance through a portal.
Technical limitations though. Because the original game had such terrible resolution (relative to modern day), N Trophy could easily blend into the dark outline of the time twister so long as he wasn't moving. The dark lighting and low resolution was the only thing that made the trick possible. Obviously in the modern version his outline would have stood out like a sore thumb and it would have felt foolish having him just stand there trying to be hidden in plain sight.
From deep inside my temple prison, I sent you simple instructions to follow. But you lost the gems, you lost the crystals, and I HAVE LOST MY PATIENCE! There is now no other power source left on this planet.
It would have been nice if Brio was more involved in the original trilogy. It's never really explained why he helps crash in crash 2 but than is back with cortex in crash bash.
Remember when Uka Uka used to be actually intimidating? Seriously, only original Crash 3 and Crash Bash managed to maintain this level of menace. _All_ of his other appearances, including the remake, pale miserably in comparison to how he is here.
