Great job Jon in 2014. Your interest in this hobby, your knowledge, and willingness to share, reflects back to us,the viewers. Thats why WE keep coming back to watch your vids...I think 2015 can be even bigger...Awesome ,Awesome job "Long Live Arcades"
Hey John, this is about my 3rd viewing of this video. Thanks for all you do for the hobby. I've been wanting to get into it for several years. Thanks to what you have shown/taught me over the past couple of years, 2016 will be the year I officially get into this hobby. Take care and hope you never loose your love for this. I know you have been stressed lately with all the changes in your life(VGO/AO/your dog). Be sure to take time for yourself. While we love your videos we don't want you to get burned out. Again, thanks for all you do & share with us.
Wow, I just watched it all on my tv! Awesome, thanks for the great videos, John. I really enjoy the repairs, restores, arcade walk thrus (like this one) & the on the road vids. Keep up the awesomeness and happy 2015.
Thank you for all the awesome content John! I loved this video and it was a great way to pass 3+ hours while I'm off work! Keep up the great work!
I watched the lot and found it all fascinating. Once of the best UA-cam videos I've ever watched!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!
I really really enjoyed this vid John! Watched it in two parts and enjoyed every minute of it. You are doing such a great job of capturing the love for the arcade classics and bringing it to the big public. Keep it up in 2015 and I'm sure your channel will grow even further then in 2014. Wishing you and your family all the best for the New Year.
Love the videos John! Great job on this one! I got a lot of laundry done during this one!
I love your attention to detail over the history of the designers and their contributions. It's nice they get some credit for what they did.
I love seeing all the PSAs that these old machines have. Winners Don't Do Drugs is still a big part of my childhood due to all the Capcom games I played.
First video of yours I watched, and watched it all the way to the end. (In a couple sit-downs.) Informative and fun! Good work.
Thanks, Stefan!
The best arcade channel on UA-cam by far. Here's to another great year of John and his arcade!
Matt Manning Thanks, Matt! Truly appreciate it!
Great stuff, as usual. Looking forward to all the 2015 builds!
John Victor Thanks, John! Me too! Can't wait to get to the garage in the spring!
Phew, watched the whole thing, tidied and organized my entire gameroom while it was on :)
Re: the lcd monitors at the end, I agree with you completely but mame does have some great effects in it now that emulate the curvature, scanlines, glow, colours bleeding etc, you can make games look really nice. Still not a replacement for an arcade monitor but it's a million times better than the flat plain lcd look.
Just finished watching this (we watched it in two parts over new year)..i discovered your channel this year and i really enjoy watching...
Hope you have a great 2015 !!...you mentioned you would like to open your own bar arcade , that would be AWESOME and really something to watch.
Best wishes for 2015!!
We are ending the year together Johny boy !
Thanks so much for sharing so much of your work and your passion for them beloved arcade Video games
Thanks, dude! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Congrats on all of your success. I enjoy all of your videos. The quality is excellent and you are always looking to improve. I am glad that you have decided to put yourself in front of the camera this year. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see what is next.
WOW - What a Video over 3 hrs of Arcade Goodness!!!! Great Work BLKDOG!!!
Great vid! I actually watched it all. I always love the campground paperboy story...crazy.
Congrats on the million views! Well earned! Pass the popcorn!!!
I played arcade games like crazy in the 80's. But I don't remember ever seeing some of these ganes like Major Havoc, Zoo Keeper, and Journey. I have 2 Mame arcade games in my basement, and now I know how to play these rare games. Thanks John!
your videos are great , big hug , happy 2015 !!!
Happy New Year, bro!
36:59 "Theres a girl frog right here, she gets on your back and you can take her to the home to get a little bonus" 😎👍😉😉
Great Job Brother. One of the best youtube game related videos I have seen in years, you will be the next big thing soon and have inspired me (I watch all the major channels you're one of the best). Cheers brother even though this was last year, having a drink now at the end! haha. Take care from Canada!
Watched every second of any video you make don't mind if every one you out out was 3 hours long ... after I get home from work I lay down relax and watch you vids. Since I was a kid I wanted to own my own arcade. Now iam looking to collect and restore games the only problem is I live in Brooklyn and search on Craigslist and find nothing.. I check ebay but the price to ship Is ridiculous. . Hopefully one day I can find one .. thanks John for all you hard work keep it up!!
john only wobbles the table to make the viewers nervous :)
I just found your channel in the last month or so. I would say these super long year end videos are great. I've watched 10 or 15 of your other videos for different reasons. I've been wondering what all you had in your arcade as well as your personal story about why you wanted these games, what you did to them, the value/rarity of them, past memories, etc. etc. but didn't feel like peeling through your channel to try to piece all that together. This year end video did all that, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and YES I made it to the end. By the way, I'll actually be clicking subscribe after I post this comment, so you can credit this video for making that finally happen. ;) Thanks John and keep doing what you're doing!
+Geplus Logger Awesome! Thanks so much for watching. Glad you liked it. :) And... thanks for subscribing. :)
You bet! :)
What? No Space Invaders, Wizard of War, or Phoenix? Ah well, you can't have everything, you have pretty much everything else! The fact that you have Dragon's Lair is beyond impressive. Your basement would have been heaven for me and my friends back in the 80's!
i think that your videos are special, cause they are so long. most of your videos are at least an hour long and i love watching all of them =)
congrats on the 2 million views and happy new year john ^_^
Waiting all day for John's video...
BAM! 3 hour video :D thank you for a great year!
Thank YOU for watching! Happy New Year!
Love your videos John. Keep up the good work.
I have been collecting, selling, repairing etc. since I purchased my first DK Jr. cocktail in 1994. I currently have 8 pins and around 18 arcades and at one time I had over 30 cabinets but had to sell a bunch when I moved across the state 7 years ago.
The passion you have toward this hobby is truly amazing and you have inspired me in a lot of ways when I work on my gameroom. I want to make some videos for you tube but there is no way I can match your charisma on the camera although I am going to try anyway.
By the way - After your dad drove over your sisters foot and all the drama settled, did you guys go in the arcade and play Paper Boy?
Thanks john for all the entertainment this year buddy! This ain't a video this is a movie.lol
Ha! Thanks, Franco!
John, Happy New Year
I am personally proud to have contributed to your 2014 success, and look forward to your continued growth in the future.
Really enjoyed seeing all of your collection and the story behind each. Keep up the great work...
Michael Salomone Thanks tons, Michael! Truly appreciate it. TONS.
Terrific video, as always, thanks! I played Mario Bros and Zoo Keeper in the summer of 1983 when my family was visiting my grandparents in Chicago. I also played Wacko. . I'm from Long Island, NY.
over 3 hours of fun :) yes i watched it till the end. love your work. greetings from germany :)
Great video john. My favorite so far. I gave had to watch it in segments, but enjoyed it all the way
John you having a Blondie album cover on your stair-case wall just like upped my respect for you, You're a good man.
***** Dude, Blondie was bad ass back in the day! Good shit.
Love your videos and work thank you from Cardiff Wales Uk.
Your videos really awaken loads of nostalgia from when i was kid.
Cat eating out a... LOL!
These videos motivate me to repair & fix stuff John, cheers for that mate, quality channel - one of my favorites!
Thanks, Bimmy! Appreciate it! :)
Thankyou John.....This video is great.
Mad Planets is one of my all time favourite games ..i love the dial and joystick control scheme.
Happy new year !
Stuart Sumner Yeah... seriously. Mad Planets frickin' RULES.
Just watched full video while working out how I fit my arcade cabinets into my small garage/basement/utilityroom/arcade. Rolling around these small papercuts around my floorplan :D It´s 4am but I´m not even tired.
Finished the whole video. Waaay too short.
;-)
What a year. Thanks for all videos & hard work, John.
hahahah! Way too short? Thanks for watching.
Thank you for mentioning the arcade sign that you got at Hobby Lobby. It looks pretty cool. I went by my local Hobby Lobby yesterday and got the last one. Everyone else in town that watches your videos must have already come by and got the rest of them. The sign is "$35" but of course they are always having 50% off sales.
Watched every minute and loved it
Great 2014 vids can't wait to see what 2015 brings
Awesome, Steve! Thanks for watching!
Thank you John! Wish you and your family a good and healthy new year with lots of arcade gaming of course... :-)
You too, Mario! Happy New Year!!!
I remember the spectator monitor above the Donkey Kong in my hometown arcade when I was a child. Those Nintendo games really benefited from them! (That and the 10 coin slots to claim your space in line) :)
Great work over all. I was in Vegas a while back and went to the Pinball hall of fame, I never would have known about it, had it not been for your video. Suggestions for popcorn topping other than butter and salt; Hot sauce, honey, brown sugar.
I Work at a movie theater and Pro Tip on the popcorn, put the salt in with the popcorn kernels in the kettle and try swapping the places of your seasoning and that oil.
I really liked this video . And I enjoyed watching you playing the games along with talking about them . Haven't seen some of these games since I was kid . been watching your videos for while and I just subed . Can't wait to see your end of year 2015 :) and yes I watched all 3 hours lol
I watched it all. :D
And enjoyed every second of it, looking forward to what the next year brings and an early Happy New Year back to you john. :).
Happy New Year, Leighton!! Thanks for watching!
Happy new year John! Thanks for the great videos!
I watched it in about 4 to 5 parts to finish it! Whoa! Good stuff!
I'm very jealous of your man cave John, all three hours of it! Love it mate; happy New Year. :)
MagikGimp Thanks, Gimp! But it's not a man cave. :) It's an arcade.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech A Mancade then? ;)
Am I reading the time right? Over three hours?!? Can't wait to watch!
Sadly, this is true. :) It's a long ass vid.
Great job with the review. I watched it in pieces.
Your year end reviews are always a good time, can't wait for that next Donkey Kong Video too.
Thanks! I think the next vid will be a DK vid! :)
Hell yeah, I'm playing it myself on mame quite a bit, I just broke 100k.(which is huge to me).
Love the year end video, I stream it on my HDTV and love to hear the backstory on the games
Thanks, Brian! Glad you liked it. :)
Nice one John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech, watched that all in one sitting, never apologise for lengthy vids... You need a John finishes Outrun series now too... ;) Keep it up mate...
PantherUK Thanks, Panther! I can't seem to finish that stupid game! :)
Love your videos John. Hope you can make more at some point ❤
My favorite part was at 03:03:12 when you accurately predict the future. You described John and Jay's Arcade almost to the t. Congratulations. Love the channel.
Woah, 3 hours? Awesome! I have your videos on as background at work, and this is going to be sweet. (Co-workers don't approve of the language on Arcade Outsiders.) Happy New Year, pal!
Frederick Porter Ha! Sorry about the potty mouths on AO. :)
Hey John thanks for the shout out. Happy New Year
Mos' Def', bro! Thanks for the beer!! Heady Topper rules!!
It is good but I would rather a bottle of Cantion Iris or Rose
Awesome video. I always wanted to try Heady Topper. Cheers thanks for the videos!
Gyruss hidden away in the corner..... oh the humanity lol :)
But yeah, I'd have that cab out and in full view because its just awesome.
Love the Outrun upright also. Again, pity its in the corner.
Dont know if I've ever mentioned, but I do watch all your vids from start to finish, however it can take me a few days just to get through one episode, like this one for instance :)
Great video - I watched it all (over three nights). I really like the vids just hangin' in your basement. On a music note, is your Blackface Twin a reissue or an actual 60s model? Take care, man!
***** It's actually a 70s Silverface with a Blackface mod and faceplate. It has been hotrodded.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech Awesome! I'd imagine you're pretty handy when it comes to repairing/modding up amps. I have a '64 Bassman and a Princeton Blackface reissue; a fender-lover here as well. Thank you for the reply and take care, John! Also, thanks again for all your hard work.
Hey John, I live in Oklahoma City. We have an arcade called Cactus Jack's. My kids love that arcade. Anyway, they do have 2 NBA Fastbreak pins linked. Kinda like you, I've never really played pins as a kid, but now I'm getting into it. My son and I really enjoy the head-to-head NBA Fastbreak.
Awesome video John and Happy New Year buddy!! Keep up the good work!
Happy new year!!! :)
3 hour video?
No thnx john i had for this year
Happy new year buddy

Hey John take some love from Portugal have a great year you and your family PS: keep up with the big vids never get bored with John´s Arcade
Good stuff! Watched in completion! This video is longer than The Hobbit lol. Happy new year, dude; can't wait for next years projects.
Yes, it was longer than the Hobbit and I made it for about 40 million dollars less. :)
That's a sick setup you have man. Kudos!
love your restore vids the most
Nice john! Watching from my home arcade in Indiana! Still and hour and a half to go!
Awesome! ENJOY!
John, have you ever heard of yestercades? It's an arcade like yours, so it's AMAZING.
Love your video's John! The Journey restoration was amazing. I have wanted that game for years but don't have the skills like yourself to pretty much build the game from the ground up. I was a Moon Cresta kid as well. Don't know if you remember that one?
***** Yes, I have played Moon Cresta. Neat early shooter.
You are a bad influence John. Beer AND Popcorn! I've just opened a couple of beers and eaten a box of Jaffa Cakes since watching the viewer mail section ;0D. Happy New Year!
Oops! Sorry. :) BTW -- I didn't finish the beer and I gave the popcorn to my family. :)
Thanks for the video man, love the channel!
Crispy Thanks, Crispy! Means much. :)
Hey John! Fantastic year end review....watched it all....I hope your dream of one day opening a barcade comes true. I would pay to get in! Anyway I can donate a new non-wobbly table for your basement??? Thanks for videos and keep em coming. Hope to see you at Pinfest 2015 in Allentown, Pa May 1-2...Happy New Year
John, I have been a FAN of this channel and subscribed months ago when stumbling on here looking for arcade topics and videos. I can't get enough of your videos there classics in my opinion. You prove what a true arcade fanatic really is your so dedicated to this hobby it just blows my mind. If I could afford the hobby i'd be right there with ya collecting these classic's myself. I grew up in the 70's - 80's so I know so many of these games there all fresh in my memory. My fav is DK2 how I stumbled onto MAME was back in 2012 I was watching YT here and wanted to know more about that game and how to own it. That's when I stepped into the world of emulators. Maybe not a cab but as close as i'm going to come maybe to this hobby. I feel truly blessed to the world of MAME. Good Luck to you always in this must have classics kinda world. Keep it old school brotha. Love it. Jim - from New Castle, DE
Thanks, Jim! D2K and MAME can be very fun. :) Game on!
Great 3 hour prediction at the start
I get lucky sometimes. :)
For what it 's worth, i also played Galaga, Gyruss and Super Pac-Man at a Sheraton Hotel (in Ohio (?) for the first time on my way to visit my Mom's parents in 1983. I also playsd a pinball game (but I'm not sure what its name was: Flash Gordon, perhaps?) The arcade games released in 1982-83 were awesome!!!!
You've got a great collection man. I'm a crazy beer drinker and I've never heard of or seen that.
Google it! It's a big deal.
Ten years now.. jeeze
Awesome video, love it so far!!!
hy john i wish you a happy new year 2015 and all the best for you and your family
outrun is so awesome, oh and instead of mala check out gameex or hyperspin, way slicker frontends for mame, gameex is my personal favorite because of the way it categorises and organises the mame collection.
What a great year! As a child of the 80's I love the nostalgia. What do you think about Hard Drivin'? It would be a beast for the basement for sure. Looking forward to your adventures in 2015!
tehtubes1 I really like Hard Drivin'. I think it's pretty fun.
John my name is lance jackson love your videos and channel and i also subscribe to your channel and John love those arcade games in your basement enjoy the rest of your day and keep up the great work
Hmm, which should I spend the next 3+ hours watching, Gone With The Wind or John's Arcade 2014 Year End Review? Let's have some arcade action! Happy New Year John!
Yes! Watch John's Arcade! Gone With the Wind has been played to death. :)
Another great year end vid John. Time limits be d*mned it it takes 3 hours it takes 3 hours :) I did watch the whole thing (As I have all of your other vids.) Keep em coming. Personally I can't wait to see the Quantum completed an I'm still waiting to see what you do with the sprint in the garage :P Happy new year to you and see (or rather hear) you on VGO and AO.
Thanks, Jerry! I can't wait for the spring! I need to get back in that garage! :)
awesome mate just awesome.
I gotta ask though , how was your voice after this video and
hows you power bill?
2:18 yes, I am still watching
Hay john Ms Pacman is believed to be the highest selling unit game with around 115.000 midway units and 150.000 clones :) Pacman was a phenomenon when it show up right after space invaders , but by time arcade thing exploded Ms Pacman ended on top list , surprising lee Donkey Kong sold over 60.000 units and quarter eater :) it was too dam hard , but the merchandising drove it through the roof :)
Of course! :)
Dear John, Love all your videos . Would you say arcades and spare parts for arcades are getting harder and harder to find and come across these days ? In the UK there is not much of a following for arcades which is a shame .
saw the infamous bell for VGO under the monitor. hehe
John you are AWESOME
damotheking p So are you! Thanks! :)
busted open smoke alarm at bottom of stairs lol!
You guys don't miss anything! :)
Happy 2014 ! To you too ! ;)
Happy New Year!
was that a les paul jr on the wall. very underated guitar. leslie west used one through his time with mountain.
I've seen/heard your comments beore on Super Breakout... That games super legit..
My first experiences with that were Alleyway on the Gameboy and Arkanoid in the arcades which is the version I would probably choose to own... Arkanoid is probably less therapeutic though...
Holy crow! Three whole hours of video! :O
:D
Yeah! I'm not messing around. :) HAPPY NEW YEAR!
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech
Happy New Year to you too! :)
