    A valiant effort to the end -very well done - wish I still had your youthful enthusiam !.I can thoroughly recommend obtaining a condenser from a well known distributor specialist who make their own.The market is flooded with cheap imported foreign made ones that are totally unfit for purpose and if working will prematurely fail in the most inconvenient of places .They cost a little more but well worth the fit and forget reassurance .

    Big effort in getting her back on the road, you are quite a good mechanic and I like your can do attitude, the little BMC 13oo is cool. Thanks for posting.

    I admire your perseverance to get it done for the run. Think I would have thrown in the towel after removing the head from the "new" engine. 👍

    Well that was a restoration marathon. You looked so tired at the end, your facial features were no longer communicating with each other. Well done dude, seriously, you put that Wolseley back in usable safe order and entertained us all the way through. Looking forwards to the next video, next car (or bike)!

    looking good thats another car saved, I wish I had your youthful energy, I have a mate comes round every saturday and we spend a few hours working on the Morris Oxide, its on the jig now, but so much stuff still to strip out before I can weld !!meccano for grown ups
    I think the clue with that other engine was the green spray paint on the fan !! so many people tell porkies about engines and gearboxes, I nearly got caught with a gold seal engine, fully rebuilt mate
    but when I visited the blokes garage, it had been sprayed badly with gold paint and was clapped out !

    Very rare car now but will be alot of welding like any old vehicles but basically it's based on a mini like alot of different models then little bottles of welding gas are a waste of time and money for little body jobs I use flux wire but my welder is only 200 amp gas/gasless weld up to 5mm I only do car repairs my self friends and family cannot be dealt with idiots expecting it really cheap been a welder for 25 years i had built a couple of mini they are fiddly to work on i had a metro turbo in mine that was alot of bulk head work to make it fit but its a tidy old car and fair play to keeping it on the road 👍

    Good grief, what a mammoth effort that all was! Well done on making a good one out of two horrible ones. Memo.. always take spare points and condenser.🤣.
    Some nice cars there, and you show up with a BMC 1100. Oh well, to each their own😊. Attaining a finish should win you an award, you get my congrats at least. Thanks for all the effort, and bothering to video it. Les

      It was rather!
      I know, I know! Kicked myself for not packing spares, but I was so tight on time I was all I could do to throw in a jack and wheel brace!
      Ha! I know what you mean. I got to the start and thought, I could be in my mini with an entirely functional trip meter, and many more hours sleep! But where's the fun in that!

    A super effort. I've actually learnt a good deal from your videos (do we still have videos ? Anyway...) and as a consequence, I'm back to making incremental progress on my own Morris 1100 automatic. I hope mine goes as well (?) as yours..in the end. I shall watch out avidly for you next adventure!

    Just found your channel and binge-watched the Wolseley series to date - love your content and that little car! Well done for saving it, it looks such a happy little chap!
    One day I'd love one of these myself, but the rust notoriety rather terrifies me. I'm machanically not a total arse but I have absolutely zero welding or bodywork skills. I'm curious - once properly fixed and cared for appropriately, is it possible to keep one of these fellows in good rust-free order long term, or is the design fundamentally flawed such that it is inevitable that they'll end up needing costly metalwork on an ongoing basis? I love tinkering, but will never be a welder or so rich that it wouldn't matter!
    Thanks again for putting together such great content about a great little car!

      Well, if you manage to find one that isn't rotten, and then look after it with regular cleaning and waxoiling etc, then it should be possible! Our 1300gt is rot free still.

      @@whatsintheworkshop4478 thanks, that's reassuring! I'd love a classic to pootle about in, fettle and take to summer shows - I always envy the people sitting behind their cars, chatting and eating bakewell tarts.
      However Mrs Steve, not a car person, needs to approve and to date the only two old cars she's expressed any positive feelings towards are Austin/Riley/Wolseley ADO16s and things that are, or resemble, model T Fords. The latter are beyond me, but one of these cheeky little fellows I could get along with very happily!
      Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more of this little chap and your 1300 GT too I hope. All the best!

    Well done getting the Wolsely to the finish line of the tour, do you think the lumpy tickover and the burning of points sets are connected as I had something similar and it turned out to be the distributor was worn specificlly the centre bush/rivet/spindle that holds the vacuum rotated points plate to the base plate, also is the little braided wire from the points plate to the distributor body in place and good condition?

    • @whatsintheworkshop4478
      @whatsintheworkshop4478  Місяць тому

      Thanks! The burning of the points turned out to be the coil. With the coil borrowed from the kind Hillman imp owner's spares box it's been absolutely fine since. Lumpy tickover still present. I do have another distributor I could fit to rule it out, but it's running fine through the rev range, so I suspect it might just have a mild cam. The duplex chain and big valve head suggests someone was having a play, so I wouldn't be surprised.

      @@whatsintheworkshop4478 I wonder if what you got with that Wolseley is an old cooper 1098..? well used, but the sort of engine someone might have in their garage when a mate with a dead Wolseley knocked on his door..?

    • @whatsintheworkshop4478
      @whatsintheworkshop4478  Місяць тому

      @@leuvenlife they never made a 1098 cooper. But the MG1100 came with a 12G295 head, so possibly it came from one of those? It's odd, pistons aside, it looked like the engine had just been rebuilt. The cam still had the black coating on the lobes.

    • @whatsintheworkshop4478
      @whatsintheworkshop4478  Місяць тому +1

      I suspect it overheated. The piston skirts appeared to have stuck to the bores, but the rings survived apart from the oil control rings. The oil cap was also semi melted, so that adds up. @@leuvenlife
