Birds and reptile count as different things. Dinosaurs are considered different as they are prehistoric creatures, who knows maybe a Dinosaur is both a reptile and a bird.
For the same reason we have different languages: language is in constant evolution, but not in the same way everywhere. When the phonetics of a language change in different ways in two regions, the two regions have different accents.

We have different accents because random mutations become regional mutations by random chance, which leads to different regional accents when those mutations pile up.
