I love books. I love turning the pages and smelllllll of a new book or a bookstore. I like reading on my phone bc it’s easy to access If ebooks disappeared I wouldn’t be sad I tend to collect the small paperbacks mostly. ( collect as in having over 1000 at one time before I moved )
I mean honestly floppy paperbacks are a godsend when it comes to reading experience, like for me there's too types of paper back. Stiff, which is most of them, and floppy, which is amazing
i love paperbacks, also when it's already "used" i can see its scars from the reading and it's somehow satisfying because i know its our memories we spent together. and i hate ebooks because the smell and hold of the book is unreplacable
Ereaders are great. Being able to read a book while lying down, holding an ereader that weighs 100x less than a small book, while it's pitch black in the room, is incredible. Not to mention it allows you to annotate, highlight, take notes, look up definitions with a press etc etc. On top of that you can carry thousands of books with you where ever you go.. ebooks rock
im ok with any physical books actually because it has more feels reading off a physical book then an ebook, and i normally wrap my book in clear book wrap so i would withstand a little harm from whatever that might happen to it
The cloth bound books are actually troublesome in the library because the spine labels don’t stick as well, but sewn binding is the only way to go for durability.
I like hardback and library style, it just like you said feels like your holding knowledge. When I hold a hardback book I have a solid thing in my hands and it's just better. Plus the cover can't fold and get creases in it
Kindle for me. I have access to all the books I ever read in a searchable tool in my phone. More recently, I used the text to speech function on a Kindle Fire for a long drive. I have my kindle fire in a leather case… not too shabby.
I don’t think anyone has ever said paperback was the best before this But that was for a good reason paperback damages so easily so if you want to preserve your books quality then don’t pick paperback
I love the hard cover. If it makes a big bang when you drop it on a table I’m happy. Even thick soft cover can do this but also the thin hard covers aren’t great either.
I do like a really floppy paper back but ever since I got my kindle paper white I’ve actually come to love the feeling of reading a book on it. Getting excited when it says I completed my chapter or have gone up a significant percentage in my book.
For me I always loved getting any book in hardcover over paperback because it doesn't get tortured over time when you misplace it somewhere and the cover doesn't get wrinkled. The extra price is worth it for me.
I'm in my 50's now and I am trying to get back into reading. But you feeling that bound book took me right back to my childhood in the 1970's. I haven't thought about it in decades but I remember a big book of stories that my parents used to read to me. It was brown and very tatty with the spine broken. I guess it had been used to tell stories to many people before me. But I loved that book at the time.
As someone who is legally blind; I love the accessibility of a kindle and it’s convenience is unmatched. Obviously physical books are different. But to me they almost exist in a different dimension. Honestly I don’t know what I would do without a kindle.
Phone. Maybe it does not have the feel but it’s so nice to just be able to use it anywhere and I personally love voice support while I read and that also gives me that option
Paperback! Love the feel and smell of a physical book. But I will switch to reading on my tablet if I have to travel light, though usually I still take one book everywhere I go.
Hardbacks is the ideal for me. I try to buy paperback because I can place them in areas that are more convenient, but hardbacks remind me of all the libraries I've ever been in and it makes me smile. It is a little pricey and I did have to buy a freaking bookshelf for them all, but I still love hardbacks. ❤️ 📚
I prefer hard cover because it's less likely to get damaged in a backpack but paperback if I'm keeping it at home cuz it's cheaper. If I read regularly on road trips, a kindle like tablet will be convenient though cuz I don't have to take mutiple books
Kindles are especially good for people such as myself with a reading disability like dyslexia because you can edit the font, spacing, colour, and size of the text
I love Ebooks, I usually read on my computer and phone because that’s easy, but if I’m going to sit down and read a book for a while I’ll send it to my kindle. I do prefer the reading experience with a hardback book but nothing beats the convenience of a ebook
For me it's an ebook because not only do they just allow more books to be carried around together but also do things like bookmark for me and can even be read by my pc so its like an audiobook
Heavy hard covers because you don't have to hold them down while you're reading... Paperbacks have a certain tension to them that will not allow me to just set them down and have a nice read, you literally have to place your hand on them to keep them in place...
Floppy paperbacks are the best because I don’t like cracking the spine and hardbacks are just inconvenient for reading as they’re only better for display
I prefer to read on my kindle, because I’m always so scared of damaging the spine. That being said I love paperback books, I’ll pick them up at charity shops or car boot sales, it’s always what I ask for on birthdays and Christmas because you just can’t beat the clean look of a paper back and the feeing of holding an actual book
Library style is my pick. My study was filled with them, though now I only have a Kindle. Sold the house and my collection. The Kindle doesn't really do it for me though its better than nothing, i suppose.
If you don’t like physical books, buying a kindle would work wonders. The screens use electrically charged ink to display text and it keeps from straining your eyes. 🙏🏽
It's the kindle for me! Font get me wrong i love paper books and displaying them... but when ur on the go all the time and don't have a lot of space to display them it's definitely the way to go.
I think the biggest feature of the Kindle is that you can carry as many books with you as you would like. Say you're reading two or three books at a given time and want to have access to them all without going home. It's also obviously easier--and free--to get books on an e-reader. Physical books will always be more tactile, and I like having shelves of them to look at and casually draw from, but e-readers are a near infinite degree superior in most other respects.
Just a general question, I haven't seen a library style book in ages, the most recent one I own was a sort of "American classics" collection translated to german, which I got back in middle school. Are those types of binding going out of style, or are they only used for bigger works or something?
Well, I read paper backs mostly, because they are very affordable,, but hardbacks are really nice too cause they dont bend or break their spines easily and i can open the whole book well. I think kindle can be very useful for frequent travelers and people who stay up all night reading books, because we can read while the lights are off on kindle. So for me, Paperback - (4/5) Hardback - (4/5) Kindle- (3.5/5)
If you’re on the go/ traveling: Kindle Reading at home: Books I would choose books regardless because I love the feel and the smell that Kindle just can’t give me.
*Hardbacks!* They can handle the stress of school/college/university better. _Look better and more expensive in your library AND stay in shape way longer._ *My (work) IT/Computer Science books are manly hardbacks.* *Same with most of my comic collection* 🤗
leatherbound/hardcover/clothbound. I read most of my books on my ereader and only buy nice editions of books I like or that mean something to me. I hate how paperback look, I also don't enjoy how it feels I prefer a good full size leatherbound or hardcover.
My fav is the A4 cover, take it off as ur reading and then put it back on when finished. I like those books bc when opening the book all the way the spine doesn’t get damaged as the paperback for example would
Paperback i good because it is also cheaper for some books and some people like me. (In my area a paper back book costs around 1-10 USD*im from india* and hardbacks cost like 40 bucks.dont even get me started on the a4.......60...bucks....for a freaking piece of paper! The electronic reader is a waste to buy in india.it costs 150$at least and you have to pay at least 5$for each book u want to read on it.+u gotta charge it.) *from the prespective of a 16 y/o*
Do you know how many times in life I have seen people learn that if they only still had the dustcover, the book would be worth a zillion dollars, but since the dustcover is missing, it's only worth $1.17? An awful lot, Max, an awful lot..
I don't know why English paperback books have to be so compact and thick. I can never go through a book without bending it's back. Chinese books, on the other hand, usually have bigger pages (15cm x 21cm usually) and hence thinner. The glue thingy in the back also seeps deeper s. It's almost impossible to bend the back. Another plus is that the covers in the front plus back have an extra fold that's folded in which protects the corners from being bunched up.
I am incapable of reading for long periods of time on a screen 2/5, paperback always messes up (literally 0 water resistance) 1/5, hardcover is amazing 4/5, the floppy plastic cover is annoying (but I can deal with it) 3/5, the library style is great aesthetically and has the pros of hard cover 5/5.
Well, paperback until you start reading the book

Paperbacks get ruined in my bags and if I drop them falling asleep reading 😂
hardback all the way, cause you get the book smell too
Leather has them all beat when it comes to the smell, but hardcover has them beat elsewhere.
For me it’s hardback. I always read in my room so if I have to bring it I’ll bring a paperback but good, hard books are where it’s at for me
I love books. I love turning the pages and smelllllll of a new book or a bookstore.

Didnt see a trade paperback. I like them. Mass market paperbacks are the most convenient to bring along. I have a Kindle but rarely use it.

In terms of sustainability, accessibility, and portability ebooks all the way. In terms of experience, paperback for sure!
